It started off innocent enough.

Your best friends, Sana and Momo, came over to your house after school. Your parents weren't home - they had a business trip, leaving you alone with the house for yourself. Your friends probably thought you just needed company, but not to you. Your heart was beating wildly because today was the day you were coming out to them.

However, you didn't get the chance yet. The three of you have already watched movies and cried over Uno, screamed and tickled and laughed, but you still hadn't found an opportunity to bring up the topic.

That was until you were wrapped up in your bed's covers, watching them talk about their crushes. Feeling out of place, you decided to just blurt it out. "I think I like girls."

Sana and Momo shut up, turning to you with wide eyes. You started to panic - what if they were homophobic? What if you'd just broken your almost decade long friendship because you said that out of the blue? You really should've thought this through.

"Um.." Your voice trailed off. You didn't know what to say. 'Surprise'? 'Just kidding'? But they knew you like the back of their hands, so lying wouldn't work. The atmosphere turned awkward, and all you wanted to do was crawl into a hole and die. Neither Momo nor Sana have spoken yet - they only stared at you as if not sure what to say. It would've been better if they just started yelling.

"I need to go the the restroom." Sana finally broke the silence, but her words disappointed you. She walked off and left you in an even more awkward silence with Momo.

Trying to pretend nothing happened, you picked at the skin of your fingers, pretending to ignore the girl whose eyes were still trained on you.

Then Momo spoke. "Are you like... bi?"

A sigh of relief left your lips. She seemed to be fine, not disgusted. "I don't know. I think I am, but I'm not attracted to any boys at the moment."

"It's alright." She nodded, as if she understood. "You don't need to label yourself."

Another silence followed, but this time you were more relaxed. You were about to change the topic when she beat you to it.

"Have you kissed a girl?"

Surprised, you instantly shook your head. "No. I've never had a girlfriend."

"No, I mean.." She shrugged. "For fun."

Your mouth was agape now. You tried not to show your shock at her unexpected words. "Do you want to? Kiss a girl, I mean," she continued.

"Kiss a- I mean, I'd like to? Someday?"

Momo scooted over and placed a hand on your cheek. "Do you want someday to be today?"

You should've said no. After all, she was one of your best friends! You're probably not supposed to kiss your best friend.

But you nodded. And she placed her lips on yours.

It started off slow and sweet, tentative and unsure. She didn't know until how far you were okay going and you weren't sure what to do. Before it could escalate any further - her hand had started slipping under your shirt - a loud cough interrupted you.

Sana was there, but she didn't seem to be bothered by the kiss. You were sure you were red, and was about to defend yourself, but she only seemed slightly annoyed at Momo. "I thought we were going to tell her at the same time?"

Momo scratched her nape. "I saw the chance and I took it."

Shaking her head, Sana took her seat beside you. She purposely shoved Momo away from you, much to the older girl's amusement.

You, meanwhile, were very confused. What did Sana mean by 'Tell her at the same time'?

"What?" you asked, scooting a little bit further away from them and fanning yourself. Sana turned to you and sighed, reaching out to hold your hand.

"Momo and I talked the other day," she explained, refusing to meet your gaze. "We both like you, in a romantic way, and we planned to talk to you about it and ask you about.. something."

"We wanted to ask you if you liked someone, who may possibly be one of us," Momo interjected. "Or, you know, we could try having a poly relationship. But none of us know how it, you know, works."

When you didn't respond, the two girls lowered their heads in embarrassment. Your hand dropped from Sana's grasp, but only to place itself under her chin. "Sana," you said, soft enough to convince her to meet your eyes. "How exactly do you know if you like someone?"

She tilted her head, causing you to bite your lip at her cuteness. "Hmm," she hummed. "I don't know. Maybe you can't sleep at night, thinking and worrying about them? You cry over songs and you can't eat properly? When everything reminds you of them, even the littlest things?"

Your gaze turned to the Shiba Inu and racoon plushies sitting side by side on your bed, smiling internally when you pictured them as Sana and Momo. You then faced Momo, whose shyness from the kiss was evident from the redness of her cheeks.

"But whenever I'm with you two," you started, moving your other hand to take hold of Momo's, "I feel happier. I can eat well even if I feel sick, listening to music makes me want to dance, and I sleep well at night, thinking of you."

Your best friends looked hopeful. A laugh escaped your lips before you smiled. "I like the two of you. And I'm glad I don't have to choose. Are you still up to try?"

Momo's face lit up and Sana grinned, throwing her arms around you and pushing you back down on the mattress. "Is it alright if I kiss you?" she asked with a subtle pout. "It's not fair Momoring's kissed you and I haven't."

Chuckling, you nodded, allowing her to take control and capture your lips with hers. As she pulled you closer, you heard Momo's faint whine and felt a pair of warm, secure arms wrapping around your waist.

Like Momo said earlier, you didn't need to label yourself. You were willing to take on whatever this relationship throws at you.
