i was ordered to stay on land and help other teams while everyone else was out at the oil rigs.

i walked around the building and out to greet the boys.

"so i'm taking it." graves nodded as i approached.

"taking what?" i asked.

"the building. you've all been relieved, you can leave now." graves called.

"what the fuck are you talking about pendejo?" alejandro asked, approaching graves.

"you're out of line, graves." soap approaached.

"graves what is going on?" i asked, backing up.

"nobody needs to get hurt here." graves glared at us.

"are you threatening us?" ghost asked.

"soldier i don't make threats, i make guarantees."

i backed up behind one of the cars and grabbed my gun, preparing for the impending fight.

i glanced over at ghost and nodded.

he nodded in response.

"let's not do this." graves spoke.

"i'm calling shepherd." soap walked off.

"general shepherd sends his regards, he told me y'all wouldn't take this well."

"he knows about this?" ghost called.

"he's put me in command of this operation from here on out. so, y'all need to stand down. it's time to let the pros handle this." graves ordered.

"i thought we were the best of the best?" i yelled.

"not anymore, not ever."

i glared, bile building in my throat.

"my men are inside!" alejandro yelled.

"not anymore. your men have been...detained." graves smirked.

graves threw alejandro into the van beside him as one of his shadows grabbed him.

"graves what the fuck." soap yelled, getting shot at.

ghost went for cover as i ran out, grabbing soap and dragging him.

we took down the shadows around us and had to split up.

i slipped and fell, getting shot in the upper thigh.

i yelled out in pain, dragging myself to my feet as i ran.

"get out of here! ghost, go!" i yelled to the lieutenant who had been waiting for me.

we split up and got separated.

i'd managed to get to cover in a small town nearby.

"soap, ghost, this is hawk. how copy?" i called into my radio quietly.

no response.
