"This is the Asgardian refugee's vessel Statesman. We are under assault." The first thing I hear when I awake. My entire body hurts, even lying still. The screams of my people had died down, only because most were now dead.

It was the strangest thing. After half of our people managed to escape they sent all of their troops in motion. That Proxima Midnight woman packed quite a punch. I can barely remember the fight. It's all hazy. But that may not be because of her.

"Repeat, we are under assault. The engines are dead, life support is failing. Requesting aid from any vessel within range. We are 22 jump points out of Asgard. Our crew is made up of Asgardian families, we have very few soldiers here. This is not a warcraft. I repeat, this is not a warcraft."

The person speaking, Kilorn, was cut off. I incline my neck to see him getting tossed by one of the Black Order. Kilorn lands in a heap not far from me, clutching his side in pain. From here I could see the blood that was seeping from his wound. Oh God.

"Hear me, and rejoice. You have had the privilege of being saved by the Great Titan," decrees some alien scum. Ebony Maw as he had introduced himself. He was a part of the black order, the one with telekinesis.

I grunt in unspeakable pain as I roll over to the side, trying to reach my scepter that's far within my reach. Sometimes I wish my scepter would come to me like Mjolnir used to do for Thor. It would definitely be helpful right now. Unless I have it in my grasp I won't be able to call forth the actual power of the sun.

"You may think this is suffering...no. It is salvation. Universal scales tip toward balance because of your sacrifice. Smile... for even in death, you have become Children of Thanos."

That's who we were ambushed by. By that monster who calls himself Thanos. His monsters just stormed our ship, without warning and slaughtered at least half of our people.

We tried fighting back as much as we could. But like Kilorn had said in his radio communication to whoever out there was listening. We aren't a warcraft. We are a ship filled with families and alien refugees. Or were. The alien refugees helped us out.

But even with the help. We couldn't stop them. Only half of our people managed to escape. The other...

Loki stands with the Black Order. This was another shock. During the battle, Loki had revealed that Thanos was the one who had ordered him to go to earth and start the invasion with the Chitauri all those years ago. It was him. Thor was right when he said we were playing someone's game. We have been playing Thanos' game for years now.

Thanos stands shrouded in darkness and light, a vague silhouette. He wears golden armor, and a gauntlet on his arm.

"I know what it's like to lose." He says. His voice is all deep and terrifying. I get chills down my spine as he speaks. "To feel so desperately that you're right... yet to fail, nonetheless."
