"Shoot."
I mumbled seeing her corpse on the floor. Her blood staining the carpet underneath her. Clay rushed in behind me clearly out of breath. He took one look around and sighed.
"Welcome to the party. Almost thought you wouldn't make it."
I replied coyly but could taste bile in my mouth at the sight.

"Yeah, sorry the entourage got in the way. But they disappeared through the masses."
He said already looking around the office. If he wasn't meant to be King he always used to say he'd love to go into investigation work. That streak of him seemed to sparkle in his eyes as he traced the book spines and opened the desk drawers.

A smile rested on his lips when he found a torn page of a notebook.
"She must have thought someone was watching her other than us. Smart lady."
I peered from over his bicep and sure enough there a page torn from the book. Recently too.

"Yeah you can see because the book has never had to flatten the left over part of the page before."
He grinned and crouched down to the carpet.
"A stain. Not blood though, must have been ink from a pen."
"That means..."
I met his eyes.
"She got to write something!"
"She had time to write for us!"
We said together.

That was...
I tore my gaze away.
"Uhh okay so we're looking for a note. She wouldn't have had time to hide it though. Odd. Do you think he found it?"
Clay quickly took his hair and tied it up into a small ponytail. I'd never admit it but he looked like a god with it up.

"Darling could you look under the table while I check the carpet edge?"
His honey voice asked.
"S-sure."
Crap I stuttered.
I bent down to look around. Sweet wrappers littered some areas of the floor but no crumpled papers.

I lifted myself back up so I sat on my knees. This dress sure didn't help me move much. Clay's eyes quickly moved away to look at the carpet. Where he should have been looking.
"Staring Clay?"
I teased. His sharp green eyes smirked at me.
"Just enjoying the view. Anything?"
He played off smoothly. I rolled my eyes.
"Nope. All I know is that she was a sweet tooth and a lazy one."

We searched the entire room but found no trace of a note of any kind. My body was starting to ache and my brain felt fuzzy.
Shoot. I'm not doing well.
I miss my...power.
"What if..."
His voice trailed me back. He was staring down at her corpse. He crouched down and carefully took her balled up hand.

Her fingers unclasped and there lay our note. I smiled.
"Oh my Ends Clay you genius!"
I beamed and wrapped my arms around his neck. He chuckled and placed his head in my neck's crook.
"Thank you Y/N."
He mumbled smiling into my neck too. It was only then that I realised what I had done. I pulled away, cleared my throat and dug my nails into my thigh.

"And?"
I said probably a bit too defensively. He uncrumpled the page. In cursive letters blotched a note but not in English. Clay's face contorted in confusion.
"What...language is that? I've never seen something like that before."
I gently took the page and placed it under better lighting.
"Filius...Regium..."
