He sat down next to me. We kept our heads down facing the table. I felt my skin prickle. With anger. Pain. Jealousy.
I didn't even notice that I had dug my nails into my thigh before Dream's hand snuck under the table to gently pull it away.

I steeled myself although his action made me question what he was doing.
"It has become apparent that we are in desperate need of defenses...against magic."
Her voice traveled across the commanders and generals. My father stood several feet behind her seat. His face directed forward and unmoving.

His green and red eyes flickered to me and I immediately looked back down. Dream said that my father hadn't suspected us but I knew better. He wouldn't say anything until he had proof.
"Which is why I have a proposal to make."
Everyone gazed at her. She was vile but hell could she capture an audience.

"To travel and retrieve the Lost Boats of the End."
I choked as my heart leapt up. Murmurs and whispers surrounded us. Shocked faces and frowns.
No. Not this.
"She can't possibly be serious. I don't remember any such expedition."
He whispered to me not moving his head. His hand found its way onto my thigh discreetly. A surge went through me: insatiable...powerful.

"Would she really have told her fifteen year old son about a plan like this? Didn't think so."
I hissed back. I was mad,not at him, in fact I had no idea who I was angry at. Her hand lifted and silence fell.
His hand still sat delicately drawing circles in the black fabric of my robe. My body felt as though it was in the desert.

"I realise the risk of such a mission-"
"Your Highness no one who has found that place has ever come back alive. The Beast is sure to tear even more of our soldiers."
A distressed middle aged man with a receding hairline interrupted. I unconsciously grasped onto Dream's hand.

I saw his green hood shift until he realised why I had done it.
As if on cue the man head simply twisted in a 180 degree turn. He crumpled to the floor soon afterwards. My father's hands lowered once again and he returned to his position.
"Thank you mage."
She responded.
"As I've said I realise the risk and superstition around my late father's death and his lost possessions. However I found record of many magical items which could be our kingdoms saviour."

She clasped her hand behind her.
"Gentlemen...and,"
I saw her turn to me,
"Lady. Imagine having the power of the gods. Now imagine amplifying that power to the point where we could create ourselves into gods."
I shivered at her implication.

"I will be selecting a team and this will take place in a year's time. I require your best warriors."
Anticipation filled the air. Among the smell of mothballs and sweat the scent of excitement, bloodshed and hope roamed.
"Dismissed."

I gently let Dream's hand go, the intoxicating surge slowly disappearing.
"We have to go and train."
His head lifted enough so I could see his green eyes. Forests. Vines. Emeralds.
Oh to just hold his gaze without pain or guilt once again.

"Deathly Duo."
We stopped and turned to the Queen.
"I apologise for taking some time away from training the children. It is one of my biggest priorities however there is something of importance that needs your immediate attention."
We sat back down. The soldiers closed the big oak doors and left.

She discarded a piece of paper onto the table. I started to read it.
"This may never be discussed to anyone outside this room. Ever."
"What does it contain?"
Dream asked and I started to read aloud.

"Queen Puffy. You do not know who I am, but soon you'll desperately want to. I know of your secret. It has grown to my attention that the kingdom of the SMP has no future with you in power. Your son,"
I felt Dream lean closer,
"By your teachings will simply lead the kingdom to ruin. If you do not step down...I will tell your secret of his truth. You see, I am the person who raised that truth his entire life.
-S"

I read it again. And again.
"What...what does he mean Your Highness?"
Dream asked. I could hear a slight crack in his voice and I understood why. Queen Puffy clenched her jaw and tapped her foot.
"This is...this is not something I will ever be proud of. When..."

For once in her life I saw the woman who had tormented me,humiliated me and hated me struggle to speak.
"When Clay's father died I wasn't placed into the best mindset. One night I sought for...comfort. I came across a man with whom I regret to say...I spent the night with."

I saw Dream balling his fists under the table.
What?
I placed my hand gently over his. His breathing was staggered.
"So...you found later on that you were with child."
I stated, trying to get the inevitable out the way. Her blue eyes blinked in surprise.
"Y-yes. I had to lie about being terribly ill with a contagious disease and went off onto the sea. I gave birth to a baby boy."
