"We're just mates"

Liam and I are spending a lot more time together since our night last Friday. Every time I see him in school we agree to spend lunch together chatting shit as Liam has a fag outside. I'm always worried someone will catch us but he doesn't seem bothered at all. We went back inside after he'd finished and as we're laughing we join the others at the lunch table.

"Hey Luce"

"Anna hey, so how's it going with Liam" she asks quietly for no one else to hear"

"Oh yeah he's a good mate" I reply pretending I didn't know what she meant"

"Yeah but have you guys done anything, have you shagged?"

"No!"

"Kissed"

"No I said we're mates, just friends yeno that's it"

"Yeah but you must know he likes you I mean the way he looks at you and how he helped you that night"

"He was just being a good guy that night and he doesn't look at me in any sort of way Luce"

"Oh come on you don't even..."

Lucy is interrupted by Sam who cuts in and looks at me apologetically

"Hey Anna, I just wanted to apologise for the thing at the party. I shouldn't have treated you like that, it was wrong and inappropriate and I'm sorry"

He looked at me but seemed to be doing this out of fear of the other eye being blackened by Liam's fist rather than sincerity. But it took guts to say that in front of everyone so I forgave him

"Aw Sam don't worry about it, you were just a bit drunk"

"You're one to talk though Anna" James perked up

"I wasn't that bad come on"

"Yeah well those dances on the table were a great reason for us to have another party. Lucy, Anna do ya wana give us a preview now??"

"Fuck off James" I replied slapping him on the arm

I looked at Liam and he looked proper angry as if something annoyed him. So I went over to him and made sure he was okay

"Hey you good Li? You look a little tense"

"Yeah I'm fine!" He snapped back "sorry I'm just in a shit mood today"

"It's okay mate, we all get like that sometimes" I rubbed his arm but regretted as soon as the remarks started howling behind

"Oooh they're getting closer and closer each day, wonder what she'll be rubbing next" Jake shouted giggling

My face went bright red and I scoffed and Liam unfazed just rolled his eyes.

"Why's everyone here so immature" Liam asked, "hey I don't really fancy going to Maths dya wana skip

My heart was suddenly racing I mean I'd never have done something like this at home. Nuns can be super scary if they're angry. But Liam looked in my eyes and I honestly couldn't say no to him it was like he had cast a spell on me to obey his every word

"Okay" I let out whilst giggling in fear and excitement

He grabbed my arm and we ran out the school gates laughing as we did. We walked and talked until we reached his front door. I looked worried

"It's called hiding in plain sight" Liam said

"Hmmm so you've done this before then"

"Oh sure anytime an essays due" he winked and I giggled
