Chapter 11

"Max?" Kate said, in shock. He looked back at her, his cold gaze immediately softening.

He rushed to her.
"You called." He said, hugging her tightly.

She called him by mistake.

"If I see you ever again, you're dead." They heard Evvie grit.

Max walked over to them, stalking towards Jerry. He grabbed his collar and made him stand up.

"And I will follow through what she said." He gritted in his face, glaring at the guy. With one final punch, which made him fall down and groan, Max took both the girls' hands in his and started walking back to the cafeteria.

"Are you okay?" He asked, as both of them nodded.

"Oh God! What happened?" Jenna rushed towards them. She made them sit down and looked over at Evvie's lips, blood on side.

Before they could freak out, Evvie wiped it off with the back of her hand, saying,
"I'm good."

Max rolled his eyes and tended to her injury, dipping a cloth in cold water and wiping the blood away.

"Are you okay?" Evvie asked Kate, when Max stepped back, still concerned about the injury.

"Yeah." She said back, not maintaining eye contact.

"Did he hurt you before?" Max asked.

"N-No." Kate stuttered, shaking her head.

"You're lying." Max and Evvie said together.

"He's dead." Evvie gritted, standing up again.

"Your guards were there." Max said, putting a hand on her shoulder and pushing her down to sit down again.
"They handled it."

Evelina's POV.

Max wanted to know, everything that happened with Jerry, while Kate was in a relationship with him. We knew something was bad about that guy.

I saw Oliver rushing over to us.
"What happened?" I asked.

"Boss wants you home." He said, making me groan.

"Let's go." I said, sighing. I looked down at my hand to see it bruising already.

"Are you okay?"

That's the first thing I heard as I entered the house.

It wasn't Will or Leo or any of the caring soft brothers.

It was Elonzo.

"Yeah." I smiled, before he put his hand forward, silently asking me to show my knuckles.

"Guess I'm in trouble?" I said, showing him my hands. His jaw clenched while looking at my hand.

"Maybe." He said, before asking, "Where's Kate?"

"Here." Kate said, entering behind me.

"Are you okay? He didn't hurt you, did he?" Elonzo asked, moving towards her.

I was engulfed in a hug by all of my brothers, before they started interrogating Kate about it. Making sure she was okay.

"I'm okay, I swear. Evvie came to the rescue." She said, smiling at me.

"Ok. Did you eat?" Will asked us as we nodded.

I led Kate to my room as Max followed, as if reading my mind and knowing he had to be involved in the conversation.

Kate sat down on the bed, while we stood before her, towering over her, our arms crossed.

"Did he abuse you while you were together?" I asked, coming straight to point.
