Global warming, global cooling, what if all the predictions are right? Or worse, what if all the predictions are wrong? Can humans truly hope to understand the complexities attendant on such changes, never mind explain their relationships and predict their effects? The people at WBI - Walden Biodiversity Institute - think they can. At the very least, they intend to prepare as well as possible for the changes to come, whatever they may be. This is not a story of tragedy and despair. This is a story of possibilities and hope, of dreams and perseverance. If you want to know what the future could bring, should bring, start here. " ...this future sounds amazing. Not for the first time, I wish the world was more like your stories..." Utopian dreams and technological innovations. Not merely airy wishful dreams of what it would be like to be there, but realistically hopeful dreams of how to get there. This story could be a revelation of what our next twenty years will bring.

"I realized fast and I realized young that it doesn't take much to start a fire. A spark, and something for the spark to latch on to. Oil burns the fastest, followed by hay and straw, then small sticks, then fabric, then branches and logs. Everything crumbles eventually against so much heat." Cherry, a headstrong, color-blind girl, is one of a few outcasts in The Dome, but with a forbidden love of fire and a dangerous quest, she's starting to feel the heat. In this short-chaptered, easy to read story where science meets fiction, she, with the people she meets along the way, strive to free a utopian society designed to both test and protect humans, whose cruel ruler holds dark and twisted secrets.

The Everlasting takes place in a dystopian future where society is controlled by a totalitarian government that has implanted microchips into the forearms of its citizens. These microchips subtly control the emotions and thoughts of the population, suppressing their ability to truly feel or think for themselves. The chips also leave eerie black veins beneath the skin, a constant reminder of the government's grip on their lives. Ethan, an 18-year-old boy, lives in this oppressive cyberpunk society. Along with his two closest friends-Kayden, a sharp-witted redhead, and Tyler, a fierce and fearless young woman-part of a rebellion that seeks to free society from the government's control. The stakes rise when Ethan's brother is captured, and the government begins hunting down anyone without a microchip. In an attempt to infiltrate the system, Ethan and his friends undergo brutal training to become guards and hunters, discovering along the way the secrets behind the microchips and the dark agenda of the Everlasting Corporation (ELC). Throughout their journey, Ethan meets Amber, his doctor, a young woman tied to the mysteries surrounding the city. As the rebellion unravels more hidden truths, they stumble upon a society beyond their wildest dreams-a solarpunk utopia that contrasts the grim and decaying world they know. They also come face-to-face with interdimensional beings, raising questions about humanity, power, and what lies beyond the fabric of their reality. The story weaves themes of control, liberation, identity, and the fight for free will as Ethan and his friends work to dismantle the ELC and awaken a society long kept in the dark.

The testing on pregnant women was indubitably dangerous; but what else was there left to try when Earth faces the ineluctable consequences? If there was any chance of volition that this generation could make the difference, it had to be taken. But with no palpable differences at their birth, only time will tell if these children will truly be the key to Earth's salvation. Not only for humanity but also for the place they live in. Even if that is the case, can they get the better of the ignorance that destroyed the planet in the first place? Book summary by @minusfractions (mostly some parts). Everything said is either fact, fiction or an opinion. Fact: goats do not have upper teeth, instead their gums are very hard allowing goats to eat almost anything with ease. Fiction: Goats have wings allowing them to fly around the world in under forty minutes. Opinion: Goats are the cutest kind of animal. In case you're wondering why I'm talking about goats, let me inform you that was a small-scale example, even the most uninformed outsiders could understand. Why I'm explaining fact, fiction and opinion to you is so an outsider, like yourself can see what life is really like in Attabrook. Fact: Everything you do in Attabrook, more commonly known as "The Octagon", is monitored. Fiction: You have complete freedom in Attabrook. Opinion: Everybody wants to live in Attabrook. We're tricked into thinking everybody wants to live within these eight walls. To live in "The Octagon" as it's commonly known to the outsiders, is supposed to be every outsider's dream. While that's not completely fiction, it's not quite a fact. Those who are born and raised in these walls will die within these walls unless you lose all your merit points, become a rogue, or somehow escape. Now before jumping to any conclusions, some people love Attabrook, sometimes they're right. There's pros and cons to every option, but in my case, the cons outweigh the pros.

Some people are blind. Some people can look. And some people can see. Unfortunately, there are only a few who want to look, and less who want to see. And, the only way to catch the world in a safety net is to see. Maybe my mother saw, and maybe my sister did too. But, do I want to see? Do I want to understand the issue at hand? Surely, there must be other people at work. Others who see and are saving us. Right? Others who are learning how to keep the metal from destroying what's left of humankind and uniting them as one. Surely.

The colors appeared in the night. It had been happening to the human race for as long as I could remember. My father had said that we were not like this once, that we were clean, perfectly bonded; perfectly ordinary. There was a time in which the human race could hide their emotions up their sleeves, and no one had to brave the world knowing that their secrets were just unspoken truths that couldn't be hidden. In today's world, we would be the aliens of the past. He was different though. With a whole head of dark midnight blue, so perfectly blended with the night sky that it was borderline black. It brought out the color of his eyes, a shade of light evergreen that dulled the forests that ran across the borders of our land. Me myself, I was a collection of reds, colors of the sunset and of the dawn in which I was named after. While I was warm, he was cool. I was red, and he was blue. The lilac sky that touched the heavens as our fates collided was enough proof that we would clash and meet. But while everything was a bright burning hue, perhaps purple just wasn't for him after all. - Inspired by Halsey's COLORS Edited and co-written @twelvewonderingstars
