America, 2085 The United States has fractured into several warring factions, each with its own vision of how society should be rebuilt after a catastrophic collapse. The old world-one of political corruption, environmental decay, and economic inequality-has crumbled, leaving behind a harsh new reality where survival is no longer about simple resources but about power, control, and the will to endure. The "Mindforge Trials" are a brutal, government-sanctioned competition where the strongest minds and bodies are pitted against each other. It's a spectacle-broadcast across the remains of the country, drawing in masses of viewers who place bets and cheer for the participants. The Trials are held in massive, secretive arenas known as "Forge grounds," hidden deep within the wastelands of old America. The trials are a mix of physical combat, psychological challenges, and strategic puzzles designed to break down the participants. Winners are promised power, wealth, and influence, while losers are discarded, their minds and bodies shattered.

The colors appeared in the night. It had been happening to the human race for as long as I could remember. My father had said that we were not like this once, that we were clean, perfectly bonded; perfectly ordinary. There was a time in which the human race could hide their emotions up their sleeves, and no one had to brave the world knowing that their secrets were just unspoken truths that couldn't be hidden. In today's world, we would be the aliens of the past. He was different though. With a whole head of dark midnight blue, so perfectly blended with the night sky that it was borderline black. It brought out the color of his eyes, a shade of light evergreen that dulled the forests that ran across the borders of our land. Me myself, I was a collection of reds, colors of the sunset and of the dawn in which I was named after. While I was warm, he was cool. I was red, and he was blue. The lilac sky that touched the heavens as our fates collided was enough proof that we would clash and meet. But while everything was a bright burning hue, perhaps purple just wasn't for him after all. - Inspired by Halsey's COLORS Edited and co-written @twelvewonderingstars

I woke in a pitch black space. Cold sweat dripping down my back. An awful pounding in my head. My breath inhaling and exhaling in short and frantic pants. I blinked hard a few times, but every time I felt my eyes open, I still saw nothing, but darkness. I was so lost.

Two worlds. One dying planet. A secret war that will redefine humanity. Half a century after the Separation Act ended a brutal civil war between pro-humans and pro-cyborgs, Earth continues to rot under the weight of unstoppable ecological disasters. Humanity clings to survival inside megacities carved from wastelands or braced against rising seas. Two superstates - the human-led DarkWorld and the cyborg-ruled WorldNet - are locked in a fragile cold war. But peace was never meant to last. When whispers of a mysterious project called Scarcity leak from deep inside WorldNet, elite agents Pearl and Zantia are dispatched to uncover the truth. Their hunt drags them into a web of conspiracies where survival, loyalty, and identity twist into something monstrous. As they cross paths with a group of young street hustlers - Akrom, Tim, Jasper, Julia, and Seth - some unknowingly carrying the key to humanity's future, they find themselves trapped in a shadow war between two impossible visions of tomorrow: Eternal life for a chosen few... or life after death for the many. Either way, humanity will pay the price. The end is coming. The only real question is: what comes next?

This short story (maybe novella, we'll see) visits a place between good and evil where untainted innocence binds yet separates the unseen forces that connect the universes. At the apex of everything that is, each universe is governed by beings of sinless incorruptibility called Ki's, who ultimately determines the malevolency or benevolency of the universe in which it resides. Thing is, it has no clue of its role in our future, nor will it. Feedback and constructive criticism is welcomed. Any suggestions can only help me make this something I can be proud of. Thank you and please enjoy
