Su Tang waved off their thanks and asked Mrs. Li, "Do you have their slave contracts?"

When Mrs. Li heard Su Tang's question, she quickly replied, "Of course I do miss, just give me a moment. I'll bring then to you now."

With that, Mrs. Li prepared to take the voluptuous widow and Miss Bai away, ready to get the slave contracts of the mother and daughter for Su Tang. When the widow saw that Su Tang wasn't interested in buying her, she just pursed her lips indifferently and followed obediently behind Mrs. Li.

However, unlike the widow, just when Ms. Bai was about to be pulled away by Mrs. Li she suddenly knelt down in front of Su Tang with a plop. "Miss, please, I am also a hard worker, I'm strong, and I'm younger than her. Also, my cost is only ten taels of silver. Please buy me instead, miss, I swear I will be loyal to you in the future. I'll work hard. I can sew, cook, or do any work you need me to do."

Encountering such a turn, even Su Tang was startled. Actually, Ms. Bai had seen Su Tang was a local, and her only thought was that if she was bought by Su Tang she might still be able to go home and take care of her parents and brothers in the future. That's why she had been watching Su Tang expectantly this whole time, assuming that she was the best choice of all the servants Mrs. Li had for sale.

However, unexpectedly, Su Tang chose to spend an extra five taels of silver to buy Zhang Cuilan and her daughter, rather than choose her. So, muddled by her anxiety, she decided to kneel down and beg.

When Zhang Cuilan saw what Ms. Bai was doing, her face turned pale, and her daughter also understood what was happening so her eyes reddened and she hugged her mother tightly.

Mrs. Li was very angry. Back then she had really bought Zhang Cuilan and her daughter out of the kindness of her heart and out of the memory of the old feelings she had with Zhang Cuilan's mother, but it was undeniable that this mother-daughter pair were not easy to sell. After so long, it really wasn't easy to find a willing buyer that seemed decent. So, when this Ms. Bai made such a scene, how could she not be angry? She shouted, "What are you doing? If the miss doesn't like you do you think you can force her to buy you?"

At the same time, she walked over and strongly pinched her waist to get her to shut up. But Ms. Bai, who was being pinched by Mrs. Li, only looked stubbornly at Su Tang and said, "Miss, please buy me. I can definitely do the work of two people for you."

Seeing this scene, Su Tang only watched on with a shallow smile before saying to Mrs. Li, "I'm sorry to trouble you, Mrs. Li, but I'm still in a hurry to get home, so could we hurry this up?"

Mrs. Li was very afraid that Su Tang might really change her mind and decide to buy Ms. Bai instead, so she quickly pulled the gathered slaves away and went to get Su Tang the slave contracts.

Zhang Cuilan and her daughter hadn't expected that Su Tang would really insist on buying them, and they both looked at her with surprise. Su Tang saw their surprised faces and understood their confusion, but she didn't bother to offer any explanation.

In fact, in her previous life, she had seen a lot of these types of women like Ms. Bai who wanted to support their little brothers at all costs, okay? For this type of woman, no matter how capable she was, she would definitely betray her master for her brother in a heartbeat if it ever came down to it. Right now, Su Tang had so many secrets in her hands that she was not at all interested in looking for trouble by herself by buying such a person.

Although this mother and daughter pair were a little more expensive, she could see that both Zhang Cuilan and her daughter were able and willing to work. Plus, they had no family since Zhang Cuilan's parents were dead and her husband and in-laws had plotted to ruthlessly sell them. The only relatives they had were each other. This meant, in the future, when they would both be dependant on Su Tang to make their living, they would be that much more loyal and obedient.

Su Tang had her own ideas about what kind of people were the best to buy so, even if she had to spend a bit more money, she didn't hesitate to buy these two. Compared with this small amount of money, their reliability was much more important than anything else. She just had too many secrets in her hands, so she had to be careful when choosing her servants.

Soon, Su Tang had purchased Zhang Cuilan and her daughter's slave contracts from Mrs. Li, and then led them to the courtyard that Luo Xingchen had rented and told the two of them to stay there for now. Fortunately, Luo Xingchen had been living in this courtyard with her attendants for a night, so there was bedding and food, otherwise, Su Tang would have had to spend even more money.

Although she could still afford those daily necessities if she had to, she currently had less then ten taels of silver left in her hands after buying the mother-daughter pair, so she didn't want to waste any money if she could avoid it.
