Song: Can't take my eyes off  of you- Cover by Morten Harket

[Also, I was thinking about mixing up the book cover. Do you guys like it or should I change it?]

The rain tapped on your window as it fell from the clouds. You stayed tucked in your sheets, eyes open as you listened to the occasional crack of thunder as it roared through the sky. You rolled over, your parents had gone to bed, which was indicated by the lack of light that failed to seep from under your door. The winds were picking up, storms never frightened you, in fact, you enjoyed them. It was somehow calming, the only downside being that they made you feel almost too relaxed.

*knock knock knock*

You slightly raised your head, hearing the tap on your door as it swung open. You watched as a small Pikachu onesie came into view. "(Y/n)? Are you awake?" A faint whisper emerged from the figure. "Mhmm." You replied, sitting up as the door was closed and the boy slowly came closer and closer to you. His golden yellow eyes shimmered in the moonlit room as he pulled himself up onto the foot of your bed. "It's loud outside..." He commented, scooting over next to you and tucking his legs under the blanket.

"You are gonna be that loud one day." You joked, hearing a small giggle escape his mouth. "It will be awhile...second grade seems like it lasts forever." You shrugged, wrapping yourself back up in the blankets as you laid back down. "Mommy said to enjoy being a kid Denki. Things get hard when you grow up."

"I'm ready for it though!" Denki flopped down next to you, rolling on his side so he faced you. "At least when you are older you can do what you want!"

"I guess, but you are on your own. No one really takes care of you later on..."

He scoffed, "That's silly! I'll always take care of you. Just like you will always care about me!" Denki's goofy grin made you chuckle as you tucked yourself further into the warm sheets. "What? You will won't you?" His face seemed worried and you playfully poked his forehead. "Of course I will dummy. But we have school tomorrow and I need sleep." You both froze as you heard the floor squeak. Slamming your eyes shut, you buried your heads into the pillows as the door opened, the voice of Denki's mother ringing in your ears.

"Oh, here he is. I told you he wouldn't have gone far." She whispered. The footsteps approached you both as she tucked him into the sheets and it seemed his father was doing the same to you as well. "They have always done this, I don't know why it still surprises us." He said, You noticing the Denki was peaking one eye open and looking at you as he resisted the urge to smile. "We should let them rest then. Lord knows (Y/n)'s parents wouldn't be too happy if she was exhausted for school tomorrow."

The footsteps faded away as the door closed, your eyes opening once again to see Denki on the verge of breaking down in laughter. "Denki...be quiet!" You urged with a whisper. He seemed to swallow the laugh and dim it to a chuckle, "Sorry, it was funny how they didn't even notice." With a smile, you had to agree, it was quite close. "We do need to get to bed though." You suggested, Denki nodding and scooting a bit closer to you before he replied. "Goodnight (Y/n)."

"Goodnight Denki."

(Present Day)

The clock ticked on as you tried with all your power to focus on the Pre-Test that seemed to be bearing into your soul and tearing your heart to shreds. You slightly lifted your head up, the desks were arranged in a circle around the room, Aizawa diligently working on his own things as every student looked like they had just seen a ghost. While Momo and Iida seemed to be okay, you couldn't help but notice that even they seemed stumped on a few questions which no doubt made everyone else a lot more nervous.

Your eyes travelled over everyone until they reached Denki. He seemed to automatically notice your stare as he looked up and sent you a small smile. You returned one, not before mouthing 'fuck' to him in desperation. He silently laughed, writing a quick note on his paper before slightly lifting it to show you.

'You got this!' With a small smiley face written on the end.

You thanked him in sign language before looking back down at your test and putting your focus back into the questions. The Pre-Test was accumulative, not only that, but it was a little bit of everything, which made it worse for everyone who tended only to struggle in certain areas. But because of the school teaching not only regular academics, but hero work, you had three major Pre-Tests and seven major finals. Four were your average courses: Math, English, Economics, and Science. While the other three were Hero course only: History of Heroes, Physical Exam, and Hero Compatibility.

You had already finished up the Hero course tests, your class passing with flying colors, and now it was onto the normal classes. "Students, the time is now 11:25. In five minutes the bell will ring signaling your start of lunch. You are to put your pencils down and leave everything in this room, including your bags. Lunch will be served in the cafeteria where you will sit at your classes assigned table in order to prevent test answers or questions from spreading. I hope I don't need to remind you to not share answers or topics of the test with your classmates...it will result in failure of the course." Aizawa finished.

The winter winds seeming to hit right on cue as they blew around the school.

Iida raised his hand, Aizawa nodding his head over as a reply. "After the Pre-Tests are we allowed to help each other on things we struggled with?" Aizawa nodded, "Once the Pre-Test is completed and turned in, you may form study groups and hep each other as much as needed. The Pre-Test is simply to see where you are at currently and help you realize what you may need help on."

The class gave a collective sigh.

The bell rang and you immediately stood up to stretch. Your shoulders popped as you rolled them back, a yawn escaping your mouth as you wiped your eyes. The line began to move, the class filing out one y one, making sure to train their eyes on the floor so they didn't look like they were trying to cheat. It was unusually quiet in the halls. Only the first years were at lunch right now and you were all separated. As you walked, you heard someone begin to jog toward you.

You turned your head to see none other than your best friend Denki. "Oh my god that test blows!" He muttered, a smirk growing on your face as he walked beside you. "I think there are some easy ones, but I don't understand why they have to use all these extra words." Denki tapped his head, "They are trying to confuse us. It's a political scam!"

You could tell the yellow haired boy was trying to make you laugh, to cheer you up from the sadness that was evoked from a simple piece of paper. You let out a small laugh, his eyes lighting up before a few others decided to join your conversation. "I'm more upset we have to eat cafeteria food today..." Sero grumbled, rubbing his stomach as it growled. "I don't really understand who would put notes in their lunchbox." Momo questioned with a tap of her chin.

"Me." You and Denki replied quickly, enticing a laugh out of the both of you. "Besides you two." She added. "Literally anyone besides you and Iida Momo." The raven haired girl looked around, your friends agreeing with your statement as you continued on. There was light conversation made along the way, until you got into line and saw the food. It wasn't detestable, but wasn't a fan favorite. Denki groaned as you scooted up in line, him following just behind you. Everyone was eager to eat, most kids were to anxious to eat breakfast so the demand for sustenance was strong. Everyone was almost flat up against one another. "(Y/n), do you think you could help me study for these exams?"

You turned as best you could, looking up at him as you faintly saw his clear worry of failing. "Of course I can...what's in it for me?" You joked, he chuckled an eyebrow raising in thought. "Hmmm....how about some killer mac and cheese, made by your truly."

"And can get a high-five?"

He sucked in air through his teeth, stroking his chin as he thought. "I dunno. That might cost extra."

"Damn. I really wanted a high-five." You said in mock disappointment, the smiles on both of your faces growing as the playful banter continued. "I can do a hug though!" He said, wrapping his arms around you from the back and hoisting you into the air. You couldn't flail or you would kick the kid in front of you so you just laughed along as he set you down and the line began to move. Denki kept his arms in place and rested his chin on your shoulder. "What if we walk like this?"

You chuckled, grabbing your trays and moving up the line while he held onto you, making a little tune. "Dadum-ba-bum, dadum-ba-bum" It sounded like an old cartoon where a dopey character was wobbling his way back to his destination. You looked at the food options and saw Denki close his eyes, "Denki. You have to choose."

"No! I shall not! I am trusting you with my life to know what I wish to eat!"

You playfully rolled your eyes and chuckled. After ordering your food, Denki plugged his ears and kept his eyes closed all the way through the line until you guided him to sit down. "Here is the chair dork." You laughed, putting his hand on it before his head faced you with eyes still closed. "(Y/n)...if I were to ever go blind. I want you to be my caretaker."

"I already did that when we were kids and played dark-tag in a bouncy house place and you got lost and thought you were eternally stuck in a bouncy house."

"True. You saved my life!"

"Just in time for pizza. Now, speaking of food. I want to know how good my skills are."

Denki chuckled and peaked open his eyes seeing the array of food on his plate and noticing it was practically everything he liked. He couldn't help but notice the one gold-mine however..."Chickie- Fingies!" He shouted, a chuckle escaping you and your classmates as he dove into his seat and began to chow down on his food. "Did I do good?" You humorously questioned, his stuffed face looking back at you as he nodded. "PEWFEFT!!!"

You all ate and talked, and after 30 minutes the bell rang signaling the pain to begin again. "I gotta use the bathroom before we start this crap again." You muttered, standing up as Ochaco offered to inform Aizawa for you. You quickly thanked her and ran off, Denki taking care of your plate for you and heading back to class where the test resumed. The door cracked open a few minutes later, your footsteps being the only noise in the class as you quickly took a seat at your desk. You saw Denki looking at you and you couldn't help but smile. 'What?' You mouthed, a fake pout coming to his face as he batted his eyes, 'I missed you'.

'I was gone for three minutes.'

'Still...'

A smile creeped up the corner of his lips as he looked at you. You went back to your test, but Denki kept staring. It was hard to be so close to you, friends since you were 5 and practically inseparable, everything seemed to fall into place for some romantic love story...right?

WRONG

It was like a cruel game of cat and mouse. The reality of it all was too perfect, best friends since childhood who stayed in the same schools and even ended up in the same classes. The pair that were always together and confided in each other and knew each other more than anyone else. As years passed and you both grew older, the fear emerged of messing.

Losing a best friend, a confidant, all over some feelings? It seemed that time would make them go away and the issue would be sorted but it only got worse. The feelings grew stronger and now here you both were in this vicious cycle where at anytime, the scale could tip, and the perfectly balanced friendship could lean either way. And Denki knew he had done something that would make it crash and burn forever.

Once the day was over, every student made their way back to the dorms. Tired and exhausted from the day and the mere thought of the days to come. Class 1-A entered the halls of the dorms and collapsed on couches, chairs,...the floor. A few students even made their way up to their room for a nap. In all this exhaustion, you felt everyone needed a bit of cheering up. You hiked up the stairs to Denki's room, knocking on his door with a certain knock only you use.

The door swung open and Denki was already in normal, comfy clothes. "What's up?" He asked with heaving breathing.

Did he rush to answer the door?

"I wanted to see if you wanted to go to the store."

He tilted his head, "Sure, but what for?"

"Stuff so I can make cookies."

Denki's golden eyes lit up, his door closing as he was excited for errand. "Calm down sparky. I have to get changed first. I'll meet you downstairs. Don't tell anyone though." He zipped his lips shut and threw away the key, watching as you went to your room as he headed down the stairs. Denki was greeted with lazy smiles as he leaned on the couch to watch the TV. "Where are you off to?" Kirishima asked, lazily sitting up just a bit. "Going to the store. (Y/n) needs a few things."

Sero leaned his head back to look up at Denki. "How long have you two been a thing?"

The yellow haired boy was taken aback, "What?". Kirishima snickered, "It's obvious that you two are dating. I mean, you were childhood friends right?". Denki felt his heart crack just a bit. It hurt to be reminded of what it wouldn't ever be. "We aren't dating." He simply replied, trying his best to put on a face so people wouldn't pry. They seemed shocked, "Oh shit,...sorry about that dude."

Denki brushed it off as he heard your footsteps approach from down the hall. He put on a smile right as you jumped on his back with a roaring laughter. "Are ya ready kids?" You said like a pirate. "Ay ay Capitan!" Denki replied, holding you up on his back with a large grin as you headed for the store.

The trip was quick, almost too quick for both of your likings, but those were the rules considering the few incidences that had occurred. You went back and made cookies, pleasantly surprising everyone as they smelled it or had it delivered to their door. You took the last six sugar cookies and brought them up to Denki's room, doing he knock, and being invited in.

He was standing over by his desk, throwing darts onto the board that hung over his bed. He seemed focused, but based on the aura in the room alone, you could tell something was wrong. "I brought cookies...I saved the best batch for you." He threw the last dart, it smacking he direct center of the board before he looked over at you. "Thanks."

"No problem...Are you just stressed about the finals? You seem upset."

He walked over to you, taking the cookies from your hands and placing them on his center table before returning to you and taking you in a hug. You quickly returned it, Denki's breathing warming your neck as he held onto you. "Do you wanna talk about it?" You questioned, his head shaking before you rubbed his back. "Why don't we hang out for a bit and then we can talk." After a moment, he nodded and pulled back just enough to see your face. "Thank you (Y/n)."

You started by playing UNO, then a trudging long game of monopoly, which was then followed up by a small dance party with cookies. You laughed and danced, Denki almost choking on crumbs as he attempted to do a front flip with the cookie in his mouth. You twirled around the room, boasting your awful dance moves to Mambo No.5 and many other classic songs. You took a moment to laugh off the sweat as the songs faded out.

The next song began, a familiar trumpet and drum beat filling your ears. Your laughter died down, eyes raising to look at Denki who was across the room. His golden eyes already were looking over at you with a small smile, he took a few steps forward as words began in the song.

Your just to good to be true,

Can't take my eyes off of you.

You'd be like heaven to touch,

I wanna hold you so much.

At long last love has arrived,

And I thank god I'm alive.

Your just to good to be true,

Can't take my eyes off of you.

He extended his hand toward you, the fact you were both in sweats and t-shirts not bothering you in the slightest. You took his hand, remind you of he school dance you both attended with each other for convenience sake. He gently pulled you into him, a small smile peaking out of your lips as you looked into his eyes.

I love you baby!

And if it's quite all right,

I need you baby!

To warm a lonely night,

I love you baby.

Trust in me when I say,

Oh, pretty baby!

Don't bring me down, I pray,

Oh, pretty baby!

Now that I found you, stay,

And let me love you, baby,

Let me love you...

Denki spun you around as your feet moved to the beat. He was known as a swave Casanova for a reason and boy did he make it fun to actually dance. He would pull you in close, hand resting on your your lower back before he would continue his routine of spinning and dipping you. It continued like this through the whole song, the slower verses he would pull you into him, and slowly start whispering the words in your ear, as if he was singing them directly to you. Then when the chorus hit, he would sway with you and spin you around like a princess.

Oh, pretty baby!

Now that I found you, stay....

The song began to slow for the final chorus, Denki pressing himself against you and making sure that you absolutely heard that these words were meant for you. Your breathing wavered, heart beating in your chest at how close he was. You could feel his eyelashes swipe across you cheek as he moved his head so he could look you in the eyes.

And let me love you, baby,

Let me love you...

Your eyes darted around his face as he leaned in, pressing a kiss against your lips. Your eyes fluttered shut, hands moving to the back of his neck as the kiss became deeper. After a moment, he pulled away, lowering his head and dropping to his knees. "(Y/n)...I'm sorry." You were confused, he had just kissed you and was now apologizing?

"For what?"

A part of you was afraid to even ask that.

He sucked in a breath, "We both know we have to get over it...our feelings. I ruined it all."

Your stomach churned. "What do you mean?"

"I'm dating someone else. I have been for a month or so."

Your heart shattered. You were confused, hurt, upset, angry...Denki could see it all as he looked up at your face. Tears welled in your eyes as you looked down at him. "Why would you kiss me then? I get that we both didn't want to ruin the friendship, I get needing to move on from it. But why did you have to kiss me? To play with my heart only to shatter it!"

"I-I don't know..."

The room fell silent. You didn't blame him for moving on. If nothing was changing, one of you would have separated some day. It didn't make the pain any less though. And why, why did he have to kiss you and then say this. It didn't make sense.

"Do you love me?" You asked, tears falling down your skin as you attempted to hold yourself together. "Yes." He answered quickly, seemingly without a second thought. You sucked in a breath, "Well clearly since you have moved on, it would be best if those feelings faded away right? I guess that starts with me leaving the picture..."

"(Y/n) please...don't do this."

"You did this to yourself. What did you expect would happen? We would just stay friends like nothing happened? If you liked her enough to date her, clearly this was your intention, to get over me...over whatever this is." You walked over to his door, opening it and slamming it shut behind you without another word. You ran to your room, walls breaking as you screamed into your sheets, your mind pinning your own stupidity and failure to act to blame.

Finals were horrendous, friends easily knew something had happened. You avoided each other in the halls and in class, there was no banter or witty remarks, no smiles or stupid comebacks. Just silence and sad eyes as you tried to move on and not think about it at all. Denki would go out every so often to see...her. While the rest of you prepared for your winter break and spent the last few days together until the next semester.

You were all sat around the TV watching Rudolph as the snow fell outside. You snuggled in blankets as you sipped on the hot coco you had made for everyone. The large doors to the dorm swung open and your eyes immediately locked with Denki's. He had just gotten back from visiting his girlfriend and to say you felt nauseous when you saw a small hickey on his neck was an understatement. You honestly felt like crying again, it was hard to get over someone when you were in the same class and dorm.

"Uhm, what are you guys watching?" He asked, shaking off the snow and walking toward the group. You tried your best to glue your eyes on the screen, avoiding the conversation. "Rudolph. Just something to get us in the mood for the holiday spirit." Midoryia chimed in with a reply. Momo tucked you in a blanket and let you rest on her shoulder, sensing your uncomfort with the situation. She was the only one you told and was one of the only people who knew the extent of the background.

Momo was very aware of how much he meant to you and planned to help you with whatever you needed until you were okay again. "How is it?" Momo looked over to see Denki staring at you, shifting to look at her when you didn't move. He asked the question in reference to the movie, but the question was indirectly targeted to ask if you were okay.

"It's okay." Momo replied calmly, stroking your hair as a shaken breath shook your shoulders. Denki looked almost defeated. There wasn't any way that this scenario would have changed unless one of you had just confessed. But the overwhelming fear of losing each other made you both end up lost in the end.

How depressingly ironic.

Denki let out a sneeze, his stupid winter allergies getting to him with all the dust and crap blowing around. He sniffed, clearing his throat. You tapped Momo and asked if she could grab your school bag that you had lazily thrown on the floor. She handed it to you and you opened it up and pulled out a small bottle of medication.

"Denki..." You said, just enough to surprise everyone that you were conversing with him. His eyes immediately landed on you as you sat up enough to finally stand. You walked over and handed Denki the container, "Allergy pills, the ones that actually help you." Denki's gaze lingered, maybe for a bit longer than it should have as you physically had to put the container in his hand for him. "Thank you (Y/n)."

He really had no reason to say your name at the end, but Momo had a feeling that he missed being able to just talk with you and even saying your name and having a need to say it was a rare occurrence. "Mhmm." Momo invited you back to rest your head on her lap with open arms. You laid back down and sighed, Momo praising you for being the bigger man. She had noticed that Denki tended to watch you. Not stalker like, but more in a caring, protective way. He truly wanted you to be happy and safe, but kept his distance because he knew he was the cause of hurting you, which ate at him inside.

Momo had no doubt however, that if someone were to try and hurt you, that he would be there in a heartbeat.

Denki quickly went to change, taking two pills and taking the bottle back downstairs with him. He put it back into your bag, noticing that you were fast asleep and using Momo as your pillow as the movie was almost over. Denki took a seat next to her, a small smile coming to his face as he simply looked at you. Your eyes were red and puffy, as they usually were this time of night, it took every ounce of him to not just hold you.

The movie ended and everyone slowly stood up and left except for you three. Momo looked over at Denki while she scratched your back, Denki watching as you lightly snored while your chests rose and fell. "Do you mind if we talk?" Denki asked, Momo shaking her head as he scooched to sit in front of you.

"I'm so lost... I feel so stupid, like if I would have said something then we could have avoided this whole ordeal. But instead, I said nothing because I was scared and I ended up not only losing her, but being in a relationship that I thought was right but..."

Momo raised a brow, "It isn't what you thought?"

Denki sighed and rubbed his eyes, "No, it is EXACTICALLY what I thought and that is the issue. I knew I didn't love her like that, that I never would. I knew I was going to be miserable and that every time I saw (Y/n)s face, heard her voice, or even thought about her that I was going to fall right back in love and hate myself."

Momo shook her head, "Then why are you still with her? If the girl you love is right within your reach and she loves you too, why are you digging the hole deeper?" She paused, seeing Denki look at you as tears came to his eyes, "You are scared of hurting the other girls feelings and that (Y/n) will reject you?" Nodding, Momo sent him a small smile.

"The longer you drag on the relationship, the more you hurt that girl. Plus, you also run the risk of losing (Y/n)s interest and time. But to be scared she doesn't love you is the most stupid thing I have heard come out of your mouth....and you have said a lot of stupid stuff."

"Hey now, this isn't a roasting session."

They both laughed until Momo returned her gaze to you as she continued, "She has been trying to be so strong. She was stressed about finals, all she wanted to do was hug you. When she was lonely or upset, all she wanted to do was talk with you...tonight, she wanted you here so she could this with you. She loves you so much Denki, you have to see that. You both let fear cause he issue last time, don't do it again."

They sat for a moment in silence before Denki offered to take you to your room. As he walked in with you, he closed to door and put you down on the bed, your body immediately curling up into a ball and tucking into the covers. Denki crouched, leveling his face with yours as he softly rested his hand on your own. His thumb caressed the smooth skin as he eyed your features.

Slowly, as if you were in a dream state, your fingers seemed to intertwine with his. His heart breaking and swelling all at the same time as he muffled a noise from escaping as not to wake you. Denki's eyes swelled, he hadn't cried since the first day you left his room a month ago, and now, in a moment all alone, he cried. The frustration, anger, sadness, pain, everything came to light in that one moment.

He silently wept by your bedside, sucking in gasps for air as he stood from his spot. Denki knew what needed to change, and it started with a phone call.

------------

You paid the Taxi driver as you exited the car, thank him before you quickly ran up to the mansion like house and knocked on the door. It swung open and your mom gave you a large smile and immediately pulled you inside and out of the snow and cold. "My angel! I'm so glad you could make it!" She cheered, helping you brush off the snow and taking your jacket.

You walked into the living room and took notice of your father, grandparents, and Denki's family in the living room. You became nervous, in all the haze of everything happening between you both, you forgot about the tradition of your families gathering for the holidays. This familial bonding is what happens when the two kids are best friends, the parents get to know each other. Each year, this mansion type house was rented out between both families that split the bill and you all stayed in the house over break.

They all greeted you with smiles and hugs, asking how you had been and how finals were. You got the impression that Denki hadn't even told his family about the other girl, which was strange, because he was fairly close with all of them. Either that or they wanted to pretend like she didn't exist too.

"Come sit! Are you hungry? I made Spinach-Artichoke Dip?" His mother offered. You nodded your head as you took a seat on the couch, "That sounds amazing right now." She fetched you some chips and dip, a smile coming to your face as the worries seemed to wash away as you all talked and laughed with each other. Your father turned on the radio and began to dance to Uptown Girl as it came on. He took your hand and began to dance with you, everyone else joining in as both families mingled.

In the midst of the dancing, you didn't even notice that your grandpa had let Denki in once he arrived and he was now standing watching you dance and laugh, something he hadn't seen in a long time. He had a smile on his face as he eyed you, his cheeks heating up as you sang along and acted along to the words.

"Denki! Come join in!" You froze at your dads words and before you could protest, he dragged Denki over and pushed him toward you. In order to avoid questions and interrogations, you decided to just go along with it, even though it was very VERY awkward.

You began to sway a bit, Denki actually surprised you were still dancing. "Oh don't get all shy now Denki!" His aunt shouted, urging him to dance with you. The nervous boy did as he was told, circling you for a moment before taking your hand spinning you and joining in with the others.

You felt conflicted, you wanted to be happy. Happy he was here, with you and dancing with you like he used to. Happy that he chose to show up and that he didn't immediately leave. But yet you were sad, sad you knew it was a temporary moment, one that was filled with fake emotions and empty actions.

The song ended and you tried not to pull away too fast, instead excusing yourself for the bathroom. "When you gotta go, you gotta go!" Your grandma said, everyone sitting down on the couches and saving two spots next to each other for your and Denki. He took his seat, confused at why everyone looked so giddy.

"We have a surprise for you both!" His mom cheered as you rounded the corner, noticing the only seat open was next to Denki. "(Y/n) come sit!" You did as told, trying to make space between you both, even thought you both wanted the opposite. "So, we went through some boxes at our houses and we found a bunch of home videos and pictures of you both growing up!"

Fuck me...

You thought, hating every ounce of the worst timing for these events in the history of the world. "Some of them were so cute and we just had to show you both!" His aunt squealed, your eyes meeting for just a moment before falling on your laps. The slideshow started as the lights were turned off...it started when you had first gotten to know one another, the second grade class party.

There were hundreds of pictures, each click of the sides made your heart hurt more as you felt Denki gaze at them more.

There was one of you at a waterpark, one at a playground, one at a birthday party, one at and aquarium, then a zoo. Anything you could think of kids doing together, you did...but then came the videos.

The first few weren't that bad, but the fifth one almost made you breakdown all over again. It was a fake wedding you both had put on when you were around 12. That was when the feelings were recognized to be more than friends and turned to love. It was funny really, you both had just attended a family friends wedding and wanted to make one of your own. Everything was made from scratch by you both, a little summer project while school wasn't in session.

Everything from the handmade decorations to the nostalgic feelings, not to mention your family members 'awwing' and looking at you both with eyes that seemed to read: 'We know it will happen one day.'

Denki swallowed, seeing you rub your hands out of nervousness as the video continued on. Slowly, he slid his hand over to your own, testing the waters to make sure you wouldn't slap him. But you didn't. You simply open your hand, letting his own rest and intertwine with your fingers. He took a moment, sucking in a breath of relief as he felt you move a bit closer, your shoulders brushing as you looked up at him.

"Can I?" You asked, Denki replying with a small nod as you rested your head on his shoulder. You felt relaxed, despite this situation, you were now calm enough to be able to laugh at the pictures and videos. Talk with the others in front of Denki and more importantly, talk with Denki himself. After the communal home video gathering, you and Denki ventured outside and sat by the fire pit.

It was cold, but the trees that surrounded the backyard made it feel as if you were in a fantasy land with tall snowy trees. It was always quiet, away from noise and thus a great place to think, to talk.

"Do you remember being that little?" He asked, looking over at you with a small smile. "Barely. Why?" You glanced over at him and couldn't help but feel your face heat up at the way he looked at you. Same adoring eyes, same goofy smile, same Denki.

"We had some very smart conversations for kids."

"Like what?"

"I remember one memory very vividly...a conversation where we talked about growing up. We said we would always be there for each other." He got quiet, he crack of the fire being the only noise as you both sat next to each other. "I'm sorry I wasn't there for you." You looked to him, your eyes shining as they began to fill with tears. "I miss you." He was taken aback, "It is so hard Denki...I blame myself for not saying anything like I should have. But without you everything just seems, dull, I guess." You sniffed, feeling him pull you in as you relaxed against him.

"I miss you too." He admitted, heart swelling as you wrapped your arms around him. You both stayed like that for a moment, in each others arms as you both didn't want to let go. That was, until his phone alarm went off. "Oh...I have to go." He said reluctantly. Reality came back to you, he wasn't yours, he was hers. You were really, just a friend.

You let go of him and stood up, "Just be safe." You whispered before heading back inside and making a B-line for your room with your luggage. Denki sat there, feeling like an outsider once again as all he did was watch. He stood up and made his way to the front door, leaving the house for the night.

You got up out of bed, the harsh inability to sleep plaguing you once again as you shuffled across the floor in your fuzzy socks. It was one in the morning, everyone was fast asleep and Denki was still gone. You made it to the kitchen, taking some cookies and plopping down on the couch. You ate a few before your stomach had had enough.

Setting them down, you tucked yourself into your knees and sat there, letting your mind wander and thoughts roam your brain. There were many things to think about, many things to look at in the giant house, Like the large tree in the corner where everyone had already placed their presents. The fridge in the kitchen that was humming while the ice was being crushed. Even the sound of your breathing. You put your head down and closed your eyes, you weren't sure how much time passed until the front door opened.

Your eyes meeting Denki's as he walked into the room. "(Y/n), you're still up?" You shrugged, "I can't sleep. So I came out here...and here you are." You stopped for a moment as he took a seat beside you. "Should I even ask how she is? Or will it make me appear like a venomous snake?" Denki chuckled, "It wouldn't...but I would assume she is pretty upset."

You looked over at him, "Girl troubles?" He titled his head side to side, playing with his jacket as he looked down at his lap. "Not really that...I broke up with her."

Instantly you were awake, it was like someone had poured water on your face and punched you in the gut. "What?" You said, a bit to enthusiastically. He chuckled as he looked over at you, "That's why I left. That and to get your gift." Your face heated up, you didn't want to get your hopes up to quickly however. "What happened? I thought you liked her?"

"I did. But after some hefty consideration, I realized that it didn't feel right. Every laugh and smile felt forced, I never really had any desire to hug her, hold her..." You turned to face him more. Denki's body doing the same as he shook off his jacket, a small piece of snow landing in his shirt, making him shiver. You stifled a laugh as the serious moment was ruined. "You ruined my emotional monologue! I had this whole romantic thing planned out too!"

"I'm sorry! Here, I can act like it never happened." You calmed yourself and gave him a serious look, his time, he began to laugh. "You hypocrite!" You hollered, watching as the tension left the room and was instead replaced with a light hearted aura. Once the laughter died down, Denki took a moment to look at you and then immediately planted a kiss on your lips. It took you by surprise, but after all of that, were you going to complain?

NOPE

You melted into the kiss, but pulled away and left Denki with a distained look on his face. You stood up and put your hands on your hips. "I don't trust you, last time we were in your room and you kissed me I got bad news. What are you gonna tell me next. This is a dream?"

"I hope to god not." Denki said quickly, standing up with you as well. "If a bad thing happened in my room last time..." He added, your cheeks heating up as you replied: "Maybe we should go to my room this time." Your eyes flickered over his body, hands taking his as you led him to your room. Once you arrived, he wrapped his arms around you, kissing your shoulders and running them up to your cheeks.

"Can I stay here tonight?" He whispered, circling around you to the front and placing a few kisses on your lips. "Of course."

------------------------

The next morning, the alarms went off and once you had sacked the phone into silence, you felt Denki's arm wrap around you from behind as he placed small groggy kisses on the back of your neck. "Good. Mor. Ning." He muttered in-between his small gestures of affection. When you playfully ignored him, he gave you a raspberry on your back until you laughed. "Stop it you weirdo!"

"You are calling me weird?! You are he one dating me!"

You rolled over, "This is news to me. You never asked." His face went deadpan. "Seriously?" With a hearty laugh you fake punched him. "No dork, I think we are pretty official."

He wiggled his eyebrows, we did sleep with each other. You smacked his side, "Don't say it like that! We cuddled, nothing more!" Denki pouted before his eyes lit up. "Heyyyyy (Y/n)? Can I give you your gift early?" You debated for a moment, but seeing how giddy he was and the fact that he looked ready to throw himself out of bed made you give way. "I guess so."

He quickly ran and grabbed a box out of his jacket pocket and jumped back on the bed handing it to you. "Open it." He smiled, rocking back and fourth. "It might be a bit a much, but I wanted to get you something that you could always carry." You opened it up and inside, there was a small soft gold ring with two lightning bolts carved out on each end.

You were speechless, Denki began to talk, his nerves and fear getting the better of him.

"It's a promise ring that I had made for you. Which is why I had to leave at such an odd time to go pick it up is because they were very particular considering how late I was to order it in the first place, it was like payback..."

You looked up at him, heart swelling with a thousand emotions. "You designed this yourself?" He shrugged, "Mostly, obviously there was some design editing done by people who actually draw...but I wanted it to remind you of me." You almost started crying at how adorable it was, "Do you like it?" He asked, leaning beside you as he tried to decipher your face as you took it from the box and put it on. "I love it Denki!" You cheered, tackling him and falling to the floor, both of you laughing and smiling as he peppered your face in kisses.

"(Y/n), one day in the future. Will you marry me for real?"

"For real, for real?" You joked, kissing him on the cheek.

"For real, for real." He laughed.

You smiled at him, "Of course."
