Lauren's P.O.V
Well...I guess I was wrong. I hate being wrong but I really fucked this one up. There were just so many signs...how can she not be...
"Can I have my wine back now?" Normani says from her spot across from me in the kitchen.
It all started when Normani finished cooking. She went to grab the bottle of wine and I took it from her. If she's pregnant I can't have her hurting my kid and she's too stubborn to just listen to me. Long story short, after dinner I went to the store to get a pregnancy test. Turns out she was right. She isn't pregnant. I roll my eyes at her but nod my head. Mani then makes her way over to the counter and pours herself a glass.
"Want some?" She asks me. I shake my head and sit in a chair. Is it bad that I was kind of looking forward to having another kid? I mean yes unexpected but I love being a mom. I wouldn't have mind having another kid.
"Why do you look like someone just told you your mother died?" Normani asks between her sips. I shrug my shoulder and look up at her.
"Guess I'm kind of...disappointed..." I tell her. Mani puts her glass down and walks over to me.
"You want to have another child? I thought we decided we weren't having any more?" I sigh and shrug then I feel her hand on my shoulder.
"I know but the thought was nice I guess. I'm not saying I want to try for another kid but...I guess I got use to the idea of going through another pregnancy and having another one these little demons running around." I tell her. Mani smiles at me softly then kisses my forehead.
"I know what you mean. I think the last thing we need right now is a baby. We have enough on our plates." She says and I nod. She's right but that doesn't mean I'm not sad about it. Well, I wouldn't say sad. Just disappointed.
"You're right. I'm okay." I tell her. Mani pulls me into a hug from the side and I lie my head on her breasts. I didn't think I'd be this upset about her not being pregnant. I guess it just wasn't supposed to happen. Mani's symptoms probably came from stress then.
"I want you to go to the doctor." I tell her.
"Why?" She asks.
"Everything that's been happening with your body. If you're not pregnant then what's going on?"
"Probably just stressed but I'll go if it'll make you more comfortable." Mani says and I shake my head.
"Come on. Let's shower and get ready for bed. We have an early day tomorrow." She says. I nod my head and stand from my seat.
We go upstairs and I let Mani shower. I'm lying in the bed waiting for her to finish and I can't stop thinking about what tomorrow is going to bring. Now it's Normani's turn to go to court and deal with this pathetic excuse for a human being. I asked Mani how she felt about it earlier today but I left her alone after that. I know she's nervous and scared but I also know she won't want to continuing talking about it. Normani can't go back to work until the trial is over now. I can't remember the details of it but her boss called last week and told her. I just want my life to go back to normal. Who am I kidding? My life will never go back to normal. I still have to deal with Camilaand all her bullshit. What the hell is wrong with that woman? Like I'd seriously keep Aiden from talking to her. Aiden is old enough to make his own decisions and if she has an issue with it, that's something she should take up with him. I'm not going to fight in court about this.
Mani's P.O.V.
After Lauren and I eat breakfast, we just lie in bed taking turns picking movies to watch until the kids get home. I haven't told Lauren but this thing with Camila has been bothering me lately. I just...what is her point in going to court? Aiden is old enough to tell them he doesn't want anything to do with her and the judge may rule in his favor. I'm just annoyed with this situation entirely. Maybe I'll have to have Aiden talk to her and tell her he doesn't want her in his life. I'm actually surprised he didn't just tell her that since he's blunt when he chooses to be.
Before I know it, the kids are home and we're helping the kids with their homework. After we help the kids, they go off to play and Aiden sits in the living room on his phone. I sit on the couch and Aiden looks over to me.
"So I was wondering..." He starts. I look at him and he continues.
"Would you like to go on a mother son date with me tomorrow?" I smile and tilt my head to the side slightly in confusion.
"Of course I would. Where is this coming from?" I ask.
"A son just can't want to spend time with his mother?" He asks. I roll my eyes and he smirks at me.
"I just want to have some fun with you ma."
"Okay. What do you want to do?" I ask him.
"You don't worry about that. The whole day is mapped out already. I just need your company." I nod my head.
"What's the real reason for this though? Is it because of what happened? Aiden, I told you that you don't need to treat me -"
"Ma this isn't about you." He says interrupting me.
"Well, It is but not because of that. I realized because of all this Camila stuff, we missed our day this year." He says and I can't help the smile that creeps along my face.
Aiden is a person with an almost impeccable memory and has had one for as long as I've known him. Our day that he's referring too is the day he first caught a cold in Lauren's care. Aiden feels that was the first time he saw me as his mother even though Lauren and I weren't together yet. It's amazing he remembers that but we've been celebrating it for the better part of 11 years now.
"I had no idea." I tell him.
"I know. She kind of messed everything up. It's okay though." He says and I nod.
"How come you haven't told Camila that you don't want a relationship with her?" I ask.
"I would think blocking her would have sent that message." He responds.
"Well it didn't work like that. Now she's convinced Lauren and I are keeping you from her." I say and Aiden laughs humorlessly.
"Really? I'm 16 years old. I can make my own decisions."
"I know you can but apparently she doesn't see it that way. Maybe you should sit down with her and tell her you just don't want her in your life." I tell him.
"I guess I have to. I don't want some crazy lady trying to destroy my family. I mean Camila is cool and all but she's got some issues. Plus, I don't think she knows how to be a mom. If I lived with her, I'd probably be in jail or something because she'd let me do anything, and I mean anything that I want to. I don't have boundaries with her and she tries to be my friend too much. It's weird." I would never think a kid would dislike the opportunity to do whatever they wanted but Aiden isn't an average teenager.
"I just want you to talk to her so we can clear this up and you can focus on what you need to which school and picking a college already." I say playfully and he rolls his eyes.
"I have time ma." He says.
"I know but that time will fly by before you know it. Trust me. How are things with Christina?" I ask.
"I don't know. That's complicated. We're together but we hardly see each other lately." Aiden shrugs.
"I still love her so I'll see if we can spend more time together." He finishes.
"Not too much time." I tell him and he rolls his eyes.
"Of course you had to make this weird." Aiden looks down at his phone and I chuckle.
"I couldn't resist. Just let me know if you need condoms." Aiden sighs then stands.
"And on that note, I'll be in my room." He then takes off and I shake my head as he walks past me. Kid can't take a joke.
I'm hoping that everything is about to turn around for us. All of us. I don't know what I'll do if something positive doesn't happen soon...
