Su Tang spoke again and again about how important filial piety was to her and her brother. If she didn't talk about it everywhere, how could outsiders know how well behaved they were?
Sure enough, when Su Yongshun and Madam Qin heard that the siblings were trying to show their filial piety to Su Laochuan, they both thought more highly of the sister and brother pair. The children Su Laochuan had adopted were very good it seemed, even though Su Tang and Su Nuo were so young they were so filial. It was obvious that whether their fates were actually adverse or not, their character was really good.
"Well, that's good. Although we did things too urgently yesterday, Su Laochuan will be able to rest in peace in the future." When Su Yongshun spoke, his eyes were rimmed with red. He had received a lot of help from Su Laochuan and the relationship between their two families had always been good.
So now he was naturally moved to see that Su Tang and her brother were such good children who were willing to show their filial piety to their new father.
Su Tang said that while they were observing filial piety they could not eat fish, so Su Yongshun and Madam Qin let Madam Tong take it to the kitchen, where it could be cleaned up and stewed later.
As soon as she entered the room Su Tang saw a little girl come into the room from a side door. When she saw Su Tang and her brother, the little girl shouted, "Aunt Tang, Uncle Nuo!"
This little girl was the daughter of Su Yongshun and Madam Qin, Su Nuan and she was twelve years old this year. When Su Tang and her brother had come inside Su Nuan had been preparing food in the backyard. The little girl was very friendly and especially came in to greet the guests.
Su Tang looked up at the little girl. She was wearing a light red dress with a common pink flower poked into her hair. Although she didn't have any expensive jewelry, she looked neat and pretty.
"Nuan Nuan is so pretty." Su Tang complimented.
When Su Nuan heard the praise her face flushed and she said, "Aunt Tang is also very pretty."
Madam Qin was very fond of her little daughter so when she heard Su Tang praised Su Nuan she also felt happy. She pulled her daughter over to her side. "You are pretty, you're both very pretty."
Su Yongshun shook his head when he saw his wife not acting modestly at all.
Although he also thought his little daughter was pretty, so was Tang'er. Even though the late Madam Liu had always been in poor health because she was the most beautiful flower in any of the nearby villages she could still marry Su Dafu.
Su Dafu wasn't bad himself either because even after he became a widower he was able to marry a beauty like Madam Wu as his second wife. Su Dafu was handsome and Madam Liu had been beautiful, since Su Tang and Su Nuo had such parents they naturally were born with good features. But because no one had taken care of the two children before and they had always been dirty all the time, no one had been able to notice their beauty.
But now that Su Tang and her brother lived by themselves and they were able to wash and be clean every day. Although they looked thin and frail, you could tell they had a good foundation.
Su Yongshun glanced between Su Tang and his daughter. Although he knew it wasn't modest, they did look very good.
Su Nuan had seen Su Dani before. Back then, Su Dani was always dirty and hardly ever came out of her home. Her hair was always messy and there were many children in the village who laughed at Su Dani behind her back.
So today when she saw that after Su Tang cleaned up she was actually quite good-looking she felt surprised. She looked at Su Tang curiously, "Aunt Tang, how do you do that? Your hair is so beautiful."
Su Tang did not expect that her hair would attract the attention of the little girl. She smiled, "Well, I don't know how good it is compared to yours but I studied how to do my hair like this at home if you'd like I can teach you how to do it."
As soon as Su Nuan heard Su Tang say she was willing to teach her how to do her hair, she felt very happy. "Well, I can also teach you how to do needlework. My mother says I'm good at sewing."
Madam Qin and Su Yongshun saw their little daughter immediately begin to chat together with Su Tang but they just smiled and did not stop them.
Although they knew that Su Tang and her brother supposedly had an adverse fate, they were relatives so it was impossible for them to just cut them off. Moreover, outsiders might believe in something like 'adverse fate' but they did not really believe in it.
Once a fortune-teller told Su Yongshun that his family had the fate of 'great fortune'. But even until now, that fortune hadn't materialized at all so he thought that so-called fate was not necessarily real. Otherwise, why would Su Yonggui's family have lost Madam Liu back when the whole family was doing so well and then replace her with that Madam Wu who could only think of harming people.
That was why they were not afraid to associate with the two siblings at all. When they saw that their daughter and Su Tang were playing together happily, it made them feel happy too. Their two families always had a good relationship so it was right for their children to get along like this.
"That's great. No one ever taught me how to sew where I used to live. I also know some other ways to braid hair so I can teach them to you. In exchange, please teach me how to do needlework."
The little girl was so enthusiastic that Su Tang felt that she could not refuse. Of course, she actually could do needlework but outsiders would think that it was impossible for her to know how to do it herself without being taught. Now it just so happened that Su Nuan was willing to teach her, which gave her a reasonable excuse to 'learn' how to sew. With this, no one would be suspicious if she knew how to sew in the future.
As for styling hair, she knew many different kinds of braids, so it was not a bad deal to teach them to this beautiful little girl in exchange.
Sure enough, Su Nuan was even happier when she heard that Su Tang knew other methods of braiding. She was so excited that she wished she could teach her today. But Su Tang said that it was getting late today so she had to go home. She agreed to do some sewing together tomorrow before she left Su Yongshun's house.
That night, after Su Nuo fell asleep, Su Tang went into her space again. While she had been walking to the Qing River earlier today Su Tang had taken the opportunity to enter the space and collect all the crops.
Everything on the farm inside the space grew so fast that it could basically be collected twice a day. So when Su Tang went inside she saw that she could harvest again if she waited one more hour. Meanwhile, she had reached level four and now the progress bar was a third of a bar short of level five. She decided to wait an hour to harvest again and hopefully level up. In the meantime, she took a look at the soap she had put inside earlier and then went to read a book in the cabin.
There were actually a few books inside the cabin. Some she recognized as books from modern times while others were strange books she had never seen before. The orange cat told her that they had been left by the previous owners of the space and they were of no use to her. So she just looked at them to pass the time.
An hour later, Su Tang collected all the mature produce and, sure enough, the space reached level five and Su Tang directly unlocked the processing plant.
Once the level five processing plant was unlocked, three machines could be activated with points, one was a fishball processor, one was a cheesemaker, and the last one was an oil press.
The oil press, as its name implied, was for extracting oil from produce. Su Tang took a look at it and saw basically every kind of oil she had seen in modern times could be extracted using this machine. It was something very practical.
The cheese-making machine could make any kind of cheese from all over the world. Su Tang took a look at what kinds of varieties could be made. At first, there were all the most common kinds of milk cheese, including goat milk cheese, or cream cheese, etc... but as she went on the kinds got increasingly strange. Basically, anything that Su Tang had heard of and many that she had not heard of, as long as it was cheese, this machine could make it.
Finally, there was a fishball processor. It was the same kind of fishball processor that existed in modern times, which could produce many different flavors of fish balls. That included slippery and tender fishballs, wrapped fishballs, etc... the variety was not as much as in the cheese-making machine, but there was still a lot of different kinds.
Su Tang calculated how many points she could spend. Because she had to buy seeds, young animals, and so on she couldn't waste her points. After thinking about it for a while, she decided to activate the fishball processor. According to her current situation, fish balls were the most inconspicuous thing she could take out of the space.
After doing all that Su Tang really couldn't hold on any longer so she left the space and quickly went to sleep.
