I was at a small cafe in a shopping center people watching as I ate my sandwich and fries. I was focused on one family in particular. There was who I assumed was the father, a big man, probably about 40 with dirty blonde hair that was starting to gray, a kid with the same blonde hair that couldn't be more than 12, and another kid with black hair.
The blonde kid was slightly taller and had muscle on him like he played sports. I could also tell he was spoiled, he was running around, being loud, just flat out rude. I was surprised he hadn't got them thrown out. The other kid was probably only a few years younger. He was lean, but had a different build than the blonde and had a different demeanor.
He was quiet and seemed to try to hide. I could hear the father figure order food and the wild kid got twice what the father did and he ignored the other kid. "Father, I'm hungry," the black-haired kid said.
"Your behavior doesn't warrant any reward," the adult snapped. Now that was cold. I came forward, denying someone food was way past wrong.
"I'll pay for his food," I said standing by the young boy.
"No you won't!" he snapped at me.
"You can't deny someone the basic right of food. Plus you can't stop me." I handed the kid a ten-dollar bill. "Get what you want kiddo." His father tried to take it from him and I blocked. "If you want to talk about behavior you should look at your other kid, his behavior is horrid. I'm surprised you haven't been thrown out yet. At least your younger son has some manners."
"He can behave how he wants!"
"What? Is he the king?"
"No, but I am. Odin, All-Father."
"Not here you aren't, here on earth your title means nothing, you have to abide by the same rules as the human." With that, he walked off to eat his lunch and I noticed his other kid, the one with black hair was eating at my table. This must be his adopted son Loki. I was half Asgardian. My mother was from there but moved here to earth when she fell in love with a mortal. So I joined the young prince at the table.
