Another regular day in the life of Shehnaaz.
She was busy doing endorsements and shoots and song recordings.
It was quite late but she was not the person to rest before she nails everything to the core.
She gave another take and went to check it.
"Yea..this is perfect"
Sabby....i think it is enough for today....we can continue the rest tmrw...olrite.
Baaz-Thank fkn god di....mujhe toh lga tha aaj hum sbki kabar yahi khudegi....tere perfect shot ka wait karte karte.
Chalo bhai....jao ghar saare...madam ne thumbs up de diya.
Everyone swarmed out of the set like they were holding their breath to leave.
Sana laughed and asked her brother
"M i really that scary"???
Sabby pulled her cheeks-Nah....thodi si bas...ek do chammach scary hai baki pure cuteness hai.
Par kabhi kabhi smile kar liya kar di...kuch ni hota.
Sana glared at him and said
"Smiles don't get the job done...sabby...hard work gets it done...smjha...chal ab lets head home"
They both sat in the car to leave and finally get some much needed rest.
They were on there way to home and Shehbaaz was trying to tell her something but failing miserably.This was his life story....outside of the house she listens to whatever her manager tells her to but as soon as they wrap it up,she is his Ice Queen sister...who is so hard to talk to,you will chew your own head rather than talk to her about something personal.
He knew shriya will kill him soon if he will not let sana know about both of them...but he was trying so hard to not let it affect him.You must be thinking that shriya had no intentions of telling her,what changed, well he will catch you up.
It was few days back and they were having a heated argument about this private thing..
Shriya-Why do you have to be so persistent....i told you we can wait.
Sabby-May be you can but i can't...i live with her 24×7...pta hai kitna mushkil hota hai usse jhooth bolna..kabhi kabhi toh lgta hai uske retinas mein scanner to ni lge hue...shriya plz yar main pagal ho jaunga.
After an hour long convincing, shriya finally agreed to it and said
"Fine,do it...main nahi karungi..bataoge tum,Now the next time i come over there aur tumne nahi btaya hoga...toh mujhse bura koi ni hoga..yaad rakhna"
And it was since that phone call he has been trying to tell her but dude...it was a way lot harder than he imagined it to be.
As soon as they reached home,sana organized her shoes by the door and then called her cook
"Badi maa.....khane mein kya hai....kitni osm khushboo aa ri hai"
The only person who gets to see the child in her is her badi maa...that stayed with her all through her childhood and even today refuses to go back to Punjab....her exact words were
"Tu pagal hai...itni si thi...hath mein fit aa jati thi..tbse tujhe paal ri hun...mujhe pta hai mujhe kya karna hai tu apna dhyan rakh...main idr hi rahungi tere sath...hun chup chaap chaliye roti khao....lgi smj"
It was that day and to this day ,she never once told her to go back if she wanted...she has been more than a mother to her,hence the name BADI MAA...unko is ghar mein naukar bolne ki himmat kisi ki bhi nahi hai..aur agar koi bechara glti se bol deta hai toh unki agle hi din ticket kaat di jati hai.
Badi maa came and started her whole mirchi ghumana process and sana objected as usual.
Yaar bdi maa...isse nazar utre na utre ....mujhe asthma zaroor ho jayega....plz na ab bas.
Badi maa-Thu kar..thu kar...nalayak..kya kuch bhi bolti hai...
Chal naha dho k aa..dekh kya bnaya hai tere liye.
Sabby-Shabash badi maa...main hotel chala jata hun khane...mere liye toh kuch nahi bnaya na aapne!
Badi maa pulled his cheeks and said
"Arey mere golu molu....kyun ni bnaya..teri kheer fridge mein lga di hai...ja naha k aa...sb ek sath khayenge"
They all went to their rooms and while sana was about to head downstairs for dinner,her phone rang.
Shehnaaz has a female friend or you can say.....the only female friend Shriya.
She is like a sister to her and the only woman allowed in her mansion anytime.
They are childhood friends and sana trusts her more than anything in the world.
Shriya is a sweetheart and poles opposite of sana...she is everything you would want sana to be.
Sana smiled and answered
"Hello"
"Konsa flavour...strawberry ya classic vanilla"
Sana-No baby...i don't like using them...tumhe toh pta hi hai i like it raw,she laughed.
Shriya giggled and said-Kamini....answer fast na i am at the checkout...bol jldi.
Sana-Vanilla....sun get me a bag of doritos as well...i just finished a shoot and i am fucking eating some well deserved junk.
Shriya smiled and said
"Aye aye captain...chal see you soon"
Sana smiled and disconnected the call.
She remembers her best friend being always there for her and she knows how much she means to her.
She went downstairs and saw shehbaaz already eating.
"Sabby....seriously do min.ni ruka gya terese"
He smiled with his mouthful and said
"Ruk ke konsa medal milega...khana toh garam garam khane ka hi Mza hai...aap bhi baitho,aap bhi khao maine mna thodi kiya hai"
She gave him a disappointed look and he kept eating like a pig...honestly you give him anything with gravy and he eats it like a starving man begging for food from many years.
Sana called badi maa and said....
"Badi maa....shriya aa ri hai...uska khana bhi bna dena"
Shehbaaz coughed and started wheezing like a dying fish...it was really funny to watch...sana ran and patted his back and offered him water.
"Pagal hai kya..koi cheen thodi raha hai aaram se kha.....janwar kahin ka"
Shehbaaz wanted to tell her why he coughed like that but how?
He was soon going to be at the end of a sword jiska naam hai
"Have you told her yet"???
Bechare ki bhookh khtm ho gyi thi but still he was trying to pull through.
After a while when he was breathing fine,sana told him.
Tu aaj kal shriya k aate hi bhaag kyun jata hai?
Kabse dekh ri hun wo aati hai tu gayab?
Achanak kya sharam aane lgi hai tujhe?
He looked up at God and whispered
"Mere pet pe laat marne k liye itna bda pair kyun utha rahe ho....isko hi saara dimag dena zaroori tha"?
Sana asked again-Oye...kya soch raha hai sabby bta na..all is fine b/w you two right?
Sabby-Ofcourse di...i swear its all good.
Han par mujhe pta bhi ni hai aapko aisa kyun lga...bas ye hai wo late aati hai bahut toh main thak jaata hun ,tujhe toh pta hai yar workload.
Sana nodded and he took the bowl of kheer in his hand and stood up
"Main room mein jaake kha lunga"
Byeeee!!!
Before she could ask him what is happening,he ran to his room.
Sana let it go and waited for shriya to be here so that they can have dinner in peace,she chewed on few pieces of salad and went back to her room.
As soon as shriya entered the house,she was nervous...
"Ab tak toh bta diya hoga yar...i hope she is not too mad...well even if she is,it doesn't matter....i have ice cream...well and if that doesn't work I've got doritos too....kitni der naaraz rahegi...she has to smile at me kabhi na kabhi....oh god ...plz help me"
She knocked on Sana's door and her voice came from the other side
"I will meet you downstairs...neeche kitchen mein chal"
Shriya went downstairs with all the bribe she got for her..
"Pkka gussa hai...aawaz se hi lg raha tha...shehbaaz kahan hai...mujhe is bhookhe sher ka dinner bna k khud chup k baitha hai"
She kept the stuff on the table and hugged badi maa and told her she will be back for dinner in a second.
Shriya knocked on shehbaaz's door and waited for some kind of answer.
Shehbaaz-Badi maa...main so raha hun..meko theek ni lg ra aap di ko bol dena plz.
He shouted in his desperate attempts to make shriya feel like...oh bechara thak gya hai..koi na kal baat karenge.
Par maaf kijiyega...ye drama aapki bndi ke aage bilkul nahi chalega.
She banged the door for a while and then stomped her foot away from the door.
Shriya faked footsteps that would sound like she left angrily but in reality she was standing right outside his door.
Shehbaaz stealthily woke up and went to check outside.
Wrong move sabby.....as soon as he opened the door to see if she left..he was met with two big black eyes looking into his scared ones.
Shriya was tapping her foot continuously on the floor.
"I am waiting...i am sure you must have some good reason babe"
Sabby felt like a fish out of water..he tried to frame a coherent sentence but failed miserably.
"Wo main..wo i was tired..toh main wo"
Shriya turned him around and slapped his back so hard he fell down on the floor.
Baaz stood up and looked at her in shock!
"Owww...what was that for"??
Shriya-Ghar pe jab remote atak jata hai na..toh usko peeche se thok ke hi sahi karte hain..tum bhi atak rahe they toh maine socha k help kar dun...feeling better.
She smiled sarcastically and before the poor man could say anything, they heard sana calling shirya to the table.
She looked at baaz and said"This is not over mr...don't you dare sleep".
She left him with a sting in his back and sweat on his forehead....aane wali interrogation se ab mujhe uparwala hi bachaye....babaji help kar do plz yar.
Sana looked at shriya emerging from the corner and was shocked.
Sana-Just a second...tu wahan se kahan se aari hai?Aaj ye chamatkar kaise hua??
Shriya tried to come up with something really smart but all she could say was
"Arey na...wo main na kbse dekh ri thi k main tujhse milne roz aati hun par shehbaaz milta hi nahi hai mujhe...gayab hi rehta hai hamesha.....tu neeche ni aari thi socha time toh hai hi kyun na main hi jake dekh lun"
Sana-Hai na...i was talking to him about the same aaj...weird sa ho gya hai.
Shriya thanked god and immediately responded-Han..chal jane de ldkon k apne drame hai,you know na.
Sana-Oh...i know trust me i know.
They both laughed and got settled on the dinner table.
Shriya-Talking about men...how is kaaya??Its been quite sometime humne girls night nahi ki.
Sana*smiling*She is fine....waisi hi hai..forever running and always ready for her world famous advices.
They both giggled and decided to plan a girl's night out soon...well a sleepover was more likely.
After dinner they took the ice cream to her room and ordered movie on demand.
Shirya groaned-Uuugghhh...sana plz yar kuch aur dekhte hain plz i am bored of this.
Sana-Shut up...you know star wars is classic...chup reh.
They started the marathon while watching the series and in between of it..sana opened another pint of ice cream.
Shriya was a therapist..she reads moods for a living,so she played her shot.
Shriya-Oye...are you okay??You eating junk itna guiltlessly....kuch hua kya?
Sana shushed her and said
"Plz....aisa kuch nahi hai babe...ek toh tu teri saari degree kya mujhpe hi practice karegi...m fine"
Shriya paused the tv and made sana face her forcefully
"Oye actress apna oscar kisi aur se lena..either tell me what happened or i swear i will start my grilling session and you"
Sana-Mom called...she interrupted her before shriya was done.
Shriya held her hand and said
"Oh...baat ki"?
Nahi...sana just said a word and stopped.
Shirya-Come on sana...kai saal hogye us baat ko...i know you have all the right to be mad but can't you just stop this ever avoiding spree...it bothers you as well yar...plz.
Sana*angry*Maa hai meri...unse zyada safe kahin feel nahi karti thi main....when she remarried that devil of a stepdad i didn't even say a word shriya...me,the girl who was forced to work in the industry ever since she was 7....you know i always wanted to be a doctor.
Sana was now reminiscent of the days she was forced to get up and put makeup and go to the shoots while all she wanted was to have play dates with regular kids.
Sana was home schooled and even her college degree was a mere formality...wherever she went..people treated her in a special category...no one talked to her normally,teachers never scolded her and she never felt NORMAL.
Shriya knows that an adult might find being treated differently cool but as a child that was constantly forced against its will to do something, in case of sana to be the breadwinner ever since her father died...she was waiting for sana to stop talking and may be then she will make her understand what she needed to.
Sana continued
"I have forgiven her for choosing his narrative over mine..she was in lovvveeeee....but i won't forget it shriya, ever....and i am sorry if that's too dark for anyone but that is the truth"
Shriya tried again,"Are you sure you won't even talk to her once"
Sana-Not now,not anytime soon.
Can we watch the movie now?
Shriya pressed play and cuddled sana closer,she said
"Kaaya ko bhi bulayenge jldi...i miss her string of insults yar"
Sana nodded and said
"I love when she and sabby fight each other like cats and dogs"
Shriya chuckled and they went back to the movie.
After few seconds,shriya took her phone from the nightstand and texted baaz.
"Don't tell her anything...she has a lot on her mind...i don't want to take the only two ppl she can trust,away from her..atleastnot right now....MISISON ABORT"
She pressed send and relaxed..the choice for her is very simple...SANA OVER ANYONE,and the best part was,even Shehbaaz will say the same.
*ON SET*
Sana was on the set of a diamond jewellery commercial .....She hated such jobs where she has to painfully wear 10 different costumes to endorse 10 different pieces..basically anything with too much costume changes,she hates it....she liked acting not modelling but there are some prices you pay i guess for being such a big name.
She was posing currently for some 10th or something set,they planned on making a calendar out of it.
And she was exhausted to the core.
Sana picked her phone up and called her saviour.
"Hello...K where are you?...plz i can't do this..its still three more and yea you guessed it...see you soon"
Sabby entered and gave her a glass of water
"Han fir...kaisi chal ri hai shoot"
Sana glared at him..."Don't even try....tu jaanta tha na k calender shoot hai..toh ad ad kya bol raha tha tbse"
Sabby smiled and said-Di...do mahine se inko stall kar raha hun kyunki tera mood nahi tha..they were about to sue us....khair just 4 more and then we can leave,do you need anything?
Sana-Yea..a manager that is not a major pain in the ass.
Sabby pulled her cheek and said
"Tough luck..manager nya mil bhi jaye...bhai toh yahi rahega na"
Sana-Yea yea...go now and plz send kaaya straight in when you see her.
Baaz looked at her angry-Whaaat???No plz...no...wo kyun?Yar...Tusi mere naal dhokha na krya karo.....i was here na then why her?
Sana laughed and said
"Kitna darta hai tu usse....kuch ni karegi...pange kam liya kar usse bas"
He was about to say something when they heard somebody shouting and they both exchanged looks and said at once
"She is here"!!!!
And indeed after few seconds, entered in her vanity an ever busy balancing 4 items in two hands ,Kaaya..or like sana calls her "K".
She had Sana's Irish coffee in her hand and with the other she was trying to balance a paper bag from Dunkin Donuts.
Sana giggled at her pissed expressions and baaz stared at her mockingly.
Sana jumped up to take the coffee from her while she started rambling to her without even saying "Hi".
Kaaya-Babe....Mumbai's traffic sucks balls...i swear i can have sex,get pregnant and deliver the baby and that baby can go to college while i reach from one place to another...wtf man.
Sana laughed loudly while baaz just was staring at her amused.
Sana-I know i know you have classic road rage syndrome...par itna gussa.
Kaaya-Gussa...i was bringing you your coffee,coz i knew this dumbass has made you do a calendar shoot instead of an ad so i thought hey how about i get some Dunkin goodness for you,coz you and i both love it par nahi..koi cooperation deke raazi nahi hai...na log na gaadiyan...god i hate it.
Baaz-Chup ho ja yar...yar di ye kitna bolti hai...shakal theek kar phle apni ...kya bn k aai hai aaj tu ye.
Kaaya turned while sana sipped her coffee,she knew ab jang hogi🤣
Kaya smiled and said-Kyun kya hua baby....you are not turned on looking at me today?
Baaz coughed and said-Plz....you look terrible...what kind of a look is this.
Kaaya-Thankyou...your face was the inspiration.
Sana spat her coffee on kaya's comeback while baaz was sulking.
Sana-K,leave it no...here have a glazed donut...i have to start the shoot again.
Kaaya nodded and started eating along with sana.
Baaz decided to took another jibe at her.
"Kaaya..stop eating too much...you are going to gain more weight"
He wanted her to get offended but kaya smiled and said
"Sabby...i can stop eating and be thin again...no amount of makeup can make you look pretty...tu apni shakal ka soch..bhagwan ne bhi tujhe recycle bin folder mein daal diya hoga bnake"🤣🤣🤣
Sabby realized today was not his day either,so he just left both of them alone.
Sana-Mtlb..full Tom and Jerry ho na tum dono...waise Shriya was missing you.
Kaaya-I miss you guys too man..but can i be honest here...as a friend you get 10 stars,lekin as a boss tu mera bahut jeena haram karti hai...dekh ye dekh...tune jo jo list di thi....sb dhoondhte dhoondhte mar gyi hun main,are you sure you wanna start this project, i mean you barely have time for yourself.
Sana-I know that par soch liya hai and you know i don't change my mind...so lets see how it goes.
They had the donuts and while kaaya was on her phone making some other imp. arrangements, sana was getting her new look once again to go with the new set.
Kaaya looked at her and whispered
"The producer wants you to make a chota sa ad as well babe...i checked...you have to just say a line...like "Money can't buy love..but it can buy the next best thing "Diamonds"a girl's best friend.
Kaaya snorted and laughed.
Sana-Has kyun rahi hai?On the tag line?
Kaaya-Ofcourse on the tag line..diamonds are girls best friend my ass...kisi ko bhi puch lo...BRA is the right answer...no one supports a woman like her bra and that's a fact.
The makeup artist started laughing along with her.
Sana-very true,but i hate the fact that he is making me do two things instead of one...that's not fair..i think i need to talk to him.
Kaaya looked at her and said
"Main hun na madam..aap rukiye i will go and get the word across"
Sana knew she was going to do her one better,so she allowed kaya to go.
And sure enough kaaya came back with a smile in her vanity and said
"Well babe...you now can have any three out of all the necklaces you donned and your lovely assistant has a date...I'll leave you now in very incapable and lazy hands of your dumb manager😋..bye"
Sana laughed at her"how was she so blunt about what she wants in life sana has no idea..still she respects kaaya a lot,very few women hustle these days instead of finding shortcut to get what they want from life and kaaya was one such soul..she stayed away from her family and was Sana's only college friend that entered the industry with her...she still remembers how they became friends.
*Flashback*
Sana was so happy about finally being a student and live a somewhat normal life,she has done some modelling assignments and a lot of ads as a kid but no movies and she has changed a lot ever since she was a child artist...she took a break of 4 years and was pretty much unrecognizable after she lost the baby fat....and now she was doing song videos and playback singing which unfortunately made her more familiar than when she was a child artist.
But the word normal was not ready to stay in her life.
It took the people few days to find out who she is and it started.
The hushed whispers, the picture requests, men asking for dates without even knowing her first...she was so done with all of this.She started becoming more and more closed and unapproachable to them....her dreams of being unrecognizable were shattered and now she just used to go to class whenever she pleases,even the professors were treating her differently.
It was a regular day in the classroom when a girl entered in between the class ,huffing and puffing and without even waiting for the permission sat down.
The professor gave her the stink eye and started teaching again,she didn't even ask for permission and plopped down next to sana.
Sana-Excuse me this is my bench.
Kaaya-Oh sorry your highness...mujhe pta ni tha you are a part time carpenter,acha bna leti ho.
She didn't move...sana was shocked...she tried again.
"I meant i sit here,no one sits with me"
Sana was not trying to be rude she was just stating facts.
Kaaya-Yar tum kya kahin ki heroine ho kya jo tum akele baithogi jab sb class bench share kar ri hai....plz padho and let me study as well.
Sana thought she was taunting her but nope it was clear kaaya doesn't even knows who she is.
Sana kept staring at her while she kept taking notes.
Kaaya kept mumbling to her herself
"Aadhi life nikal gyi school mein sar maarte,aadhi yahan in chutiyon se deal karte nikal jayegi...haye uparwale...kam se kam ladke hi hot bhej deta is class mein"
And that made sana smile,but for how long?She was going to google her or someone else will tell her about sana and boom she will sweet talk her frombtmrw for probably a modelling assignment or an autograph.
But it never happened, everyday sana used to sit alone and then when every day she used to be late automatically she was seated with her.
She used to offer her lunch sometimes and while sana kept saying no politely she just snorted and said
"Kha lo kuch yar...tumhe kya modelling karni hai jo itni ptli ho...kuch ni hota"
Sana hated to admit it but now she used to wait for her actually and if someday she was absent it would make sana worry about her.
It was regular day and their lecture was free ,so kaaya stood up and said
"Yar..we sit together pichle 10 din se aur tumne abhi tak mujhse aage se ek baat tak nahi ki hai...kya scene hai you don't like me ya you hate everyone"
Sana was stumped what to say??
Sana-No,aisa nahi hai...i just,i don't know how to make friends toh i thought you wouldn't be interested.
Kaaya smiled and shook her hand
"Hey i am kaaya ,kaaya sharma and you are"???
Sana smiled and shook her hand
"Shehnaaz, shehnaaz gill,nice to meet you"
It took kaaya literally 20 mintues to drag her to the cafeteria and while they ordered samosas she kept telling her about what all is happening in her life.
She had two brothers that wanted her to get married by 21 and have kids by 25.
So she did what any sane person would do...revolted and ran away from home to study and do something with her life.
Her parents currently are mad at her but nonetheless provided her with some money and a place to say.
She was late to college everyday because she knows nothing about the city and doesn't have enough money to take a cab everyday.
Before sana could ask her something, a guy came upto them and asked kaaya
"Hey kaaya...do min.baat kar skte hain"
Kaaya excused herself and came back nonchalantly.
Sana was confused so she asked,"kya hua"???
Kaaya-Wahi...can i have a picture with your friend, baat kra de blah blah...pta ni tumse itna khauf kyun hai sbko.
Sana thought to herself...bechari ko sach ka pta chalega na toh ye bhi intimidate ho jayegi.
She tried to give her a hint-Yea people don't talk normally to me...meri life mein normal hai hi nahi kuch.
Kaaya-Is is because you are a star or what???
Sana spat the juice she was drinking...so she knew who she was?Why this treatment then?.
Before sana said something kaaya started
"Yea yea i know who you are...don't get me wrong phle nahi pta tha...main boarding mein thi kai saalon se tv aur movies se kam hi vaasta tha hamara...hume toh mobile phone bhi limited hours k liye milta tha...but jabse tumhare sath baithi na...koi na koi namuna aake tumse baat krane k lie bolta tha....phle gussa aaya k main kya assistant hun uski lekin fir socha k saala pta toh karun duniya terese milna kyun chahti hai"?
Toh kisi ko puch liya aur bhaisaab mera toh dimag khrab ho gya...fir socha main in ldkon ke puchne se itna irritated feel kar ri hun....tumhari toh ye roz ki life hai..kitna terrible feel hota hoga...so i decided to give you a break!!!
And from there to picking her up everyday to college, they were inseparable.
It was after passing out from college when kaaya was packing her bags because she couldn't find a job ,sana suggested that she should come work for her and not to mention kaaya was thrilled to not go back to her home where the sword of marriage was hanging on her head.
They have been together ever since.
*Flashback ends*
Sana went and finished the ad shoot.She went back home to sleep for a gazillion hours so that she feels a lot better than she does right now.
Unaware of the fact that tomorrow when a part of this shoot will be broadcasted she will catch the eyes of the devil reincarnated and that man that will change her life may be for good may be for worse...we don't know yet!!!
