Beca got home that night, unsure of how to feel. She rolled her eyes when she thought back to how he seemed to not like her for some reason. Dropping her keys into the small bowl by the door she sighed while walking into the kitchen.

"Hey Bec", she jumped at the sound of her brother's voice, seeing him immediately as she'd walk into the room.

"You scared the shit out of me dude", Beca held a hand to her chest.

Tom laughed a little as he watched his sister grab a bottle of water from the fridge. "I'm sorry"

The soccer star froze with the opened bottle in her hand as she stared back at her twin brother. "Yeah uh.. Me too", she smiled a little after putting the bottle down on the side.

"I was an idiot and messed everything up but I don't want to fight with you", he got up from where he was sitting now. "We've never fought over a girl before and it's not going to happen now", he smirked.

"You're gonna hug me aren't you?", Beca raised an eyebrow as she looked up at the quarterback. "Truce?", she held her hand out,

"Come here, loser", he pulled on his sister's hand immediately wrapping his other arm around her neck so she was squashed against his chest. Tom laughed when he felt the smaller brunette punching and trying to push his stomach to escape his grip.

Beca laughed now when she finally pushed him away and was able to breathe normally again. The twins continued to laugh with each other as they calmed down. "So, where were you tonight?"

Beca choked on her water then, turning round to face the sink instead of her brother. "I, uh..", she turned back round to face him, crossing her arms as she leaned back against the counter. "I was at Stacie's"

"Becs, you don't have to hide it from me", Tom crossed his arms now, mimicking his sister as he smirked.

"Alright fine, I was at Chloe's for dinner", she awkwardly looked at the floor, rubbing the back of her neck.

"How is she?", the quarterback mumbled quietly.

Beca looked up from her feet to see him staring back at her, the hurt still evident in his eyes. "She seems alright, man", she'd shrug her shoulders, feeling the awkward tension rise in the air.

"You met her parents?", he ran a hand through his hair.

"Oh yeah, her Dad is a real delight", the soccer captain roller her eyes watching him laugh back at her.

"He'll come around to you", he shook his head and Beca couldn't help but be surprised by how okay Tom was about everything. "You've got that Mitchell charm that wins everyone over"

"Got that right dude", she smirked. "Are you alright with uhm.."

"Becs", Tom shrugged his shoulders while shaking his head, "I think we both know that she was never mine to begin with"

The shorter brunette nodded slowly as her gaze moved away from Tom. "I dunno man, she's definitely too good for either of us", thinking about the redhead brought a smile to her face.

"Just don't be an idiot and don't worry about me either", he tapped her on the shoulder as he walked past to head upstairs to bed.

...

Fed up of the teasing that she had got from her teammates at practice each night this week, Beca decided to make a stop to it. She walked into school later than usual, hearing the bell ring out when she got out of her car. Knowing that everyone would be waiting to speak to her before homeroom she instead got to school later, meaning she could avoid being seen.

Walking through the empty hallways, she lifted her cap to run a hand through her hair before pulling it back down. "Beca", the sound of her name caused the soccer star to look over her shoulder, spotting Jasmine now walking quicker to meet her.

"I can't talk, I'm late for homeroom", Beca spun back round to get away from the girl. She rolled her eyes when she felt Jasmine grip onto her bicep with her talans, turning her round to face her.

"Are you going to Joey's party on Friday?", the cheerleader kept her hand rested on Beca's arm as the soccer captain didn't miss the lust filled gaze staring back at her.

"Yes I am, are we done here?", Beca tried to move away again, only to be stopped when Jasmine placed her other hand on her stomach, stepping closer to press their bodies together.

The brunette watched as Jasmine's eyes swept to the floor and then back up to lock eyes with her. Beca couldn't help but flick her gaze down to the girls lips when she saw the cheerleader bite on it softly. Shaking her head rid of any thoughts Beca sighed as she waited for Jasmine to speak.

"We haven't hung out in a long time", the cheerleader whispered huskily as she leaned forward so she was next to Beca's ear. "Maybe we can have some fun on Friday", Jasmine winked as she pulled away from Beca slightly.

The sound of a door closing from further down the now abandoned hallway made both girls nap their heads to the source of the noise. Beca felt all of the oxygen leave her body when she watched Chloe wall out of the girls bathroom.

"Whoops", Jasmine smirked before letting her hand lazily move down Beca's arm while moving to walk away to her own class.

Beca gulped when she locked eyes with the redhead, noticing the shocked expression cross her face before Chloe turned and quickly walked towards the classroom. "Chloe", Beca tugged on the strap of her backpack as she jogged down the hallway, "Chlo, wait"

"You don't need to explain anything to me Beca", Chloe stopped at the door of the classroom for a second to speak to the soccer star. Beca then saw the hurt look on Chloe's face when the beautiful cheerleader glanced her way for a second. "It's not as if we're together or anything, you can do what you want", she shrugged her shoulders before opening the door to the classroom and walking in, not letting Beca reply or explain any further.

Beca sighed angrily as she rubbed a hand down her face. "If you wasn't so scared to tell her how you feel you wouldn't keep fucking it all up", she rolled her eyes at her own subconscious before taking a deep breath and walking into the classroom. She ignored the sound of Mr Jones speaking at the front of the room as Beca instantly tried to gain the attention of the bubbly redhead, who instead was keeping her focus on the boring teacher.

"Mitchell, are you just gonna stand there all day?", Beca blinked out her stare now at the sound of her name again. Looking around the room at the rest of her classmates she noticed every pair of eyes on here except Chloe, who instead looked down at her phone.

Beca slowly moved through the desks towards her empty seat at the back. "Bite me Jones", she mumbled under her breath so it was only loud enough for the students she walked past to hear and laugh at.

...

"So what happened this morning? Why was you late to homeroom?", Stacie elbowed her best friend as the two of them sat on the bleachers waiting for practice to start.

Beca shrugged her shoulders as she kept her eyes focused on her feet as she tied the shoelaces, "I got fed up with the boys making jokes and teasing me about Chloe"

Stacie instantly gasped and hit the smaller brunette round the back of the head.

"Ow! Jesus woman, what was that for?!", Beca tubbed the back of her head while glaring up at her best friend who had now crossed her arms, obviously annoyed.

"Because you are acting like such a jerk", Stacie rolled her eyes before she continued to explain. "You can't just push her away and avoid her like the plague, you're going to lose her"

"You realise that it would mean you lose the bet, right?", Beca smirked this time as she heard the sound of voices coming out of the locker rooms and onto the field.

"I don't care if I lose the bet, you two are perfect for each other and I'm not going to let you throw that away", Stacie spoke softly to make Beca understand.

"Dude, what if she finds out?", Beca stared out into the distance now as she thought about Chloe again. "About the bet I mean"

Stacie turned so she was straddling the bench now and facing her best friend. "How would she even find out? It's only me and you that know about it?", Stacie moved all the bench so she was closer to the smaller brunette. "Unless you've told someone else?"

"No, no! I haven't told anyone", Beca shook her head and sighed as she looked down again. "She'd never forgive-"

"Stacie!", both girls stopped talking at the sound of the taller girl's name, looking over to see Jasmine smiling. "Aubrey has called for a last minute cheer meeting", the cheerleader let her eyes flick over to Beca where she'd wink and watch the soccer captain roll her eyes.

"Alright, I'm coming now", Stacie smirked and stood up from where she was sitting, quickly followed by Beca as the two best friends watched Jasmine wave flirtatiously at her before walking off.

"How long has she been standing there?", Beca panicked for a second when she thought Jasmine heard their conversation.

"She didn't hear anything", Stacie put her hand in Beca's shoulder, squeezing it a little as she'd move past her to the steps. "You're still driving me home after practice?"

"Yeah, I'll meet you by my car", Beca rod the anxious thoughts from her mind as she followed her best friend down the steps to the field where a coach was now calling the team in.

"Alright see you later killer", Stacie winked at the soccer star before strutting her way back inside the school.

...

Friday night quickly came and Chloe had just arrived with Jessica and Aubrey to Joey's house for the party. The redhead had spent all week confused about only seeing Beca a handful of times at school after dinner with her parents. She worried that her Dad had scared the brunette away and when she saw Beca speaking with Jasmine the next day, Chloe couldn't help but feel her heart sink.

As the three girls walked through the house and into the kitchen, the redhead's eyes immediately gazed around the room. She instantly spotted Beca in the corner of the room speaking to Sophie.

Chloe quickly pushed away any thoughts that came to mind, ignoring the urge to speak to Beca as she followed her two best friends to the makeshift bar that had been set up. "What drink can I get you Chloe?", the redhead looked up to Jason who was smiling back at her.

"Oh, uh a vodka cranberry if that's possible", she politely smiled back, noticing the way Beca's head had shifted to look in her direction.

"Of course, you looked great tonight by the way", the tall soccer player winked as he poured the cranberry into a red solo cup.

"Is he flirting with me when Beca is standing right there?", from the corner of her eye she could see the soccer captain tense up a little as she overheard the conversation.

"Here you go", Jason handed her the drink now still smiling.

"Thanks Jason, maybe I'll see you later", Chloe confidently winked at the soccer player before turning on her heel and making sure to sway her hips as she walked in the same direction that she saw her friends go.

(switches to Beca's POV)

Beca couldn't tear her eyes away from Chloe's backside as the redhead left the room. As soon as the cheerleader left the room, her anger returned as she grabbed a hold of Jasons's arm to spin him around. "What the fuck do you think you are doing?"

"What do you mean?", Jason sipped his own beer as he stared down at his captain.

"Dude you just-"

"I just flirted with a girl who is single", the tall boy smirked now as he saw the look on Beca's face. "Mitchell, she isn't yours and I am not going to be the first guy to flirt with her tonight", he slapped his hand done onto Beca's shoulder, "Me and you both know that I just taught you a valuable lesson"

Beca stood there frozen to the spot as she watched Jason walk away. Thinking over what he just said, the soccer captain finished the rest of her beer before going to find Sophie again who seemed to have left.

Walking through the house Beca politely smiled and said 'hello' to those that wanted to speak to her. Just as she'd reach the bigger room where most of the people had gathered she heard a loud cheer coming from the other entrance. She smirked when she saw her brother being tackled and out into a headlock by his friends, no doubt celebrating the end of his suspension.

"Beca!", she turned her head round to follow the sound of someone calling her name and spotted Stacie standing in the corner of the room with Jesse and Fat Amy. Beca quickly made her way past everyone else to her group of friends.

"Hey shawshank", Far Amy smiled along with the others as Beca reached them now. "We thought you would of been stuck to a certain cheerleader by now"

"Well, I was actually looking for Sophie" Beca sipped on her drink but quickly pulled it away when she felt someone punch her. "What the fuck?!", she looked up to her best friend now, "I thought you only used violence in the bedroom", she winked and laughed along with Fat Amy and Jesse.

"You would know", Stacie rolled her eyes, "What are you doing?! I thought we agreed earlier that you was going to speak to Chloe"

"And I will but Sophie was trying to warm me about something before I got..", the brunette tried to think of the right way to explain it.

"Before she got jealous of someone flirting with Chloe", the sound of Sophie's voice made everyone laugh now except for Beca who just rolled her eyes while finishing the rest of her drink. "Come on, let's go outside where it's quiet", Sophie took hold of the soccer star's hand and carefully led the way through the room to the back garden.

Once Beca had slid the door closed which seemed to quieten everything down with the noise staying inside she made her way over to the porch swing that sat on the decking. "So you still haven't told Chloe how you feel then?", Sophie's question made Beca freeze for a second as she got comfortable.

"Uhh no I haven't", she rested her arm across the back of the swing, her hand sat just behind Sophie's head.

"You know you're just making things worse right?", Sophie shook her head as she smirked back at the brunette, turning in her seat to face her more.

Beca rolled her eyes once more, "Everything is-"

"Are you fucking kidding me?", both girls snapped their heads in the direction of a very angry redhead. Chloe's hands were on her hips as she sent what could only be described as a death glare to Beca, who in turn was looking more nervous now at the sight of the furious cheerleader.

"Dude, I have never heard her swear", Beca's thoughts were running wild as she watched Chloe storm towards them both now. "You must have really pissed her off this time", Beca clenched her jaw as she looked up into the baby blue eyes that held nothing but hurt and anger.

"Chloe I was about to-"

"No, you don't get to speak right now!", the redhead held up a hand in front of Beca who had shifted in her seat more to face her. "What are we even doing?!", she shrugged her shoulders but didn't give Beca a second to even think of a response. "Sometimes we're friends and sometimes we're more than that and then sometimes you act like I'm a complete stranger to you", the fire within her was raging as Chloe let out all of her emotions. "One minute you're talking to me as if I'm something special and then the next minute you're talking to me as if I mean nothing to you! One day you pay so much attention to me and then the next day you completely ignore me!", she was shouting louder now, ignoring everything around her as her stare was focused on the soccer star.

Chloe pointed a finger at Beca now as her emotions tipped over the edge, "Don't fuck with my feelings because you're unsure about yours! Grow up and talk to me when you're done treating girls as if you own them!"

Beca was speechless and frozen in her spot as she watched Chloe storm back inside and away from them both. She didn't even remember that Sophie was still sitting next to her, as her eyes stayed locked on the back door, until the blonde herself stood up to leave. "I don't want to say it but I told you so", she tapped the brunette sympathetically on the shoulder before the sound of her heels clicking against the decking told Beca that she was now left alone.

The brunette instantly knelt forward so her elbows rested against her knees and she held her head in her hands. "What have I done?", she mumbled quietly to herself, the feeling of guilt and regret washing over her.
