It's the big day for the UA sports festival, I couldn't help but be excited. I had trained for this day for two whole weeks.
The whole bus ride here, I was shaking from anticipation. I had to blare chill lofi in order to soothe my nerves.
Honestly, even though I was psyched for the festival, my mind was still lingering over last night. Lingering over him. The kiss cut short, the way his voice got soft when he talked to me, and the way his lips felt on mine.
I blushed slightly, remembering the encounter. The feeling of it all was honestly more powerful than his words, real or over text.
Well, they say actions speek the loudest, I guess they're right I think to myself as I stretched in the corner.
Doing mainly leg stretches, because I felt like I'd do alot of running today. I didn't really know why I thought that, I guess it was just my intuition.
Katsuki and I talked like normal, even though we were secretly dating. He was right, announcing the sly chick and hotheaded dude got together would definitely create some drama.
Unlike last night, today he was completely focused, determined to get first. I decided to not bug him for now, he'd probably burst out yelling if I did.
"Good luck Y/N!" Uraraka told me with a thumbs up and a huge grin. "Thanks, you too" I said with a smile.
We began walking out into the arena, the crowd going wild once they saw all the students.
"This crowds making me kinda nervous" Uraraka said, looking at the immense size of the crowd in awe.
No shit, a crowd of this size has the right to make anyone nervous I think to myself, getting goosebumps from all the eyes on us.
"Same here, I'm getting nervous just thinking about it, what do you think Bakugou?" Kirishima said, looking over at him.
"The more people here, means the more that'll see me win" he states with a smirk. "Not if I win and bump you down to second" I say with a smirk of my own.
His head whips back upon hearing my comment. "Stay out of my way shitstain, that medal is mine" he said sternly, his crimson eyes flashing in the light, jerking his thumb at himself, emphasis on MINE.
Damn, someone's riled up I think to myself, walking with the others.
We all gathered into a large mass of students, the speech part started off with Katsuki's oh-so- motivational speech.
I honestly couldn't keep myself from bursting out laughing afterwards, which was pretty awkward because the entire stadium was quiet. My laughs echoing off the walls.
After my interruption, two pro heroes explained the instructions to the obstacle course which was the first phase. One of which was Midnight, searching the crowd, she found me and gave me a wink.
Denki and Mineta freaked out behind me, thinking she winked at them. "Did you see that dude? She totally winked at me!" Denki said, grinning big.
"No way man, a girl like her would be into me" Mineta said, touching his hair as if to confirm it.
I smiled back at her, happy she was cheering me on. I can do this, for my mom, for midnight, for big sis, and for myself. I hype myself up as we gather in front of the big gates.
Immediately, I sprinted into the corridor, feeling the air go slightly cold, I realize todoroki was trying to freeze some of the students.
Grabbing someone's shoulder, I pull myself off of the ground, pushing myself into the air and past the iced area. Landing on my feet, I don't stop.
Immediately moving into action, I run towards the robots, simply sliding past one as it was focused on the large group behind me.
I quickly caught up to Katsuki and Todoroki through sheer running, that training did wonders for my legs. Not to mention that being in track as a child helped alot.
"Get out of my way short stuff" Bakugou warned, using explosions to propel him. "Gladly, I'll save you a spot for second place" I say with a wink as we reach the canyon bit.
I let Katsuki get ahead of me slightly, knowing he was going to blast his way across. Just as he did, I jumped and grabbed his belt, being carried across with him. I let go once we got to the other side.
"OI, YOU BITCH, HOW DARE YOU MOOCH OFF MY QUIRK" He yelled at me as I navigated my way quickly through the mine field. I laughed to myself "just like hopscotch" I said as I made my way quickly through the minefield.
What I didn't know, was that Katsuki was out for blood. Furious at my last action, he exploded himself toward me, blowing up the mine under my feet to throw me off.
Although it did the exact opposite, launching me into the air, I went with it.
Looking to my right as I reached my hand up and grabbed onto the piece of metal Midoriya was riding on.
"Sorry Izuku, but I'm winning this one!" I yell over the wind, just before we land, I push myself off of the metal, roll on the ground and sprint into the arena.
The crowd went nuts as my name appeared in first place for the first phase. I leaned over, hands on my knees and tried to steady my breathing. "Piece... Of....cake..." I said to myself between breaths. The constant movement had done a number on me. My breath became a slight wheeze as I let my legs rest.
Looking into the crowd, I search the rows until I find my mother and....my sister sitting in the front row.
I could barely contain my excitement, my sister had been away for college in the United States and had taken the time to come see the festival! I was truly happy.
Even though my sister was here, I couldn't help but do a 180° and feel bad for Midoriya. His move to use a piece of the robot was genius, but in the end it was me who had won.
Following me on the scoreboard was Todoroki then Midoriya, Katsuki would've gotten 4th.
As we started phase two, I realized I had the most points, and with the most points, I was the biggest target. I smirked This'll be a breeze I thought to myself as I made eye contact with Katsuki.
"Hey lemon head, your on my team" I say, waving him over. "Shut the fuck up before I blow your brains out" he sneered, walking over to me. "I thought it'd be the other way around" I say to him quietly as I wave over Kirishima and a few others.
I could tell he was processing what I just said, I smiled, happy I finally got him back with my flirting.
After discussing out battle plan with the group, we agreed to have me on top and have everyone else carry me.
I sat up top, tying the point band securely around my neck as the game started. "We don't have to get that many bands, nobody will try to get ours" I tell the others.
"I'll keep them away, just focus on running. Let's win this!" I yell the last part, trying to hype everyone up. They nod and begin racing towards other groups.
I focused my quirk on any living body outside my group and I. Boosting our confidence, and raising others fear in result.
Uraraka's team leader reached out to grab my neck band before screaming and falling off the group in attempt to get away from me.
I smirked, happy I trained my quirk with Bakugou. Now I could repel people with a very strong bubble, or force field of fear surrounding myself or multiple people.
Even though it was invisible, it was very useful. Bakugou ended up blasting one of the runners for Todorokis team, knocking him off balance. I snatched his headband easily.
Slipping it onto my neck, I felt the team hit the shield and cover they're eyes, screaming at the horrible and unique things they saw.
"TIMES UP." The announcer called loudly, I released my fear bubble and hopped down off of the boys shoulders.
"Wow Y/N, that forcefield thing was pretty badass" Kirishima said with a huge grin.
"Thanks, I've been training my quirk to do even more lately" I said, beaming back at him.
We all had a break to collect ourselves and have lunch, I was very hungry. That force field took alot out of me. Ranking wise, my group was first, then Ojiro, then Momo, etc etc.
Walking out the the food venders, I decided to get a metric shit ton of food. My metabolism and quirk burned off the calories so why not?
Buying 2 eel rolls and a small box of 4 mochi, I headed back to the waiting room to eat, not wanting to be around anyone at the moment.
It bugged me how I had to rely on others to get to first during the first phase. My quirk was really useless unless I was against something with a brain, which sadly did not include land mines, canyons, or huge robots.
I sighed as I dipped my sushi in soy sauce and ate it. What if I was alone with something that my quirk couldn't handle? I'd be goddamn useless I thought to myself, accidentally shanking a piece of sushi with my chopsticks.
Useless...
Fucking useless...
"I'm starting to sound like my fucking dad" I grumble to myself as I glare daggers at my sushi. I wasn't scared of him anymore, Katsuki made sure of that.
I was just angry, angry at him for everything. For invading my privacy, for doing what he did to me, for marrying my sweet mom and for even being in my life.
I hated him, and honestly? Winning this festival was my way of proving to him. That I am NOT useless. I am NOT weak, and that I AM worth it.
