I've been messaging Mina-ssi a lot recently. She's just so nice and easy to talk to. She understands. I mean, whenever I talk to the guys, they understand me too, but something about talking to Mina is just different.
But she keeps calling me 'sunbaenim'. I feel weird having a friend call me that. And I don't really think of her as my hoobae, I just think of her as a close friend. I decided to bring it up.
Jimin: Mina-ssi
Jimin: I have a request
Mina: a request?
Jimin: yeah lol
Jimin: um..I just
Jimin: I would prefer if you stop calling me sunbaenim
Mina: oh
Jimin: I mean there was nothing wrong with you calling me that, but I feel like, since we're friends we should call each other more casually
Jimin: if that's okay
Mina: hm..
Mina: ok I think I'd like that actually
Mina: So what should I call you?
Mina: should I call you Jimin-ah, or Jimin-oppa, or...
Jimin: you can choose
Jimin: I like either of those two
Jimin: actually you can call me oppa lol even if I'm only two years older
Mina: ok then from now on I'll call you Jimin-oppa
Jimin: 👍👍
Jimin: and I'll call you...

Jimin: unless you have another preference
Mina: actually...
Mina: you know what
Jimin: hm?
Mina: you can call me Minari if you'd like
Jimin: Minari?
Mina: Yeah it's kind of like my nickname
Jimin: cute
Jimin: Ok, then I guess I'm calling you Minari now
Jimin: alright it was nice talking to you, but I have to head out
Jimin: bye, Minari 😊
Mina: bye, Jimin-oppa
Minari...I feel like I've heard that name before.
I don't know...I've probably heard some of her other members call her that or something.
But 'oppa'...
Usually, you don't call someone 'oppa' unless they're like five years older than you, but these days, a lot of girls use the term 'oppa' when referring to their boyfriend.
I liked it when girls called me Jimin-oppa. I thought it was cute, but now, to me it means more than that.
I was sitting on the couch, messaging Mina, and I didn't even notice Jungkook peering over my shoulder so silently until he chuckled.
"Jimin-hyung!"
I was startled. I flinched and immediately pulled the phone to my chest, attempting to hide the screen.
"W-what?" I said. I didn't say anything about it because maybe he didn't see the texts?
I was wrong.
"You and Mina-nuna??" He looks at me with his big eyes.
This caught the attention of everyone else in the room, AKA, Namjoon, and Tae.
"What?" I say back, "What about it?"
"You told her to call you oppa." He nods at me.
"And..? Girls call you oppa all the time."
"Yeah, but Mina-ssi is our friend. None of your other female friends call you that."
"It's not a big deal." I insist, "I just told her that I didn't want her to call me sunbaenim anymore."
"Huh? Why?"
"Why? Jungkook, I don't see Twice as our juniors. They're our friends. They're our equals. And you don't call them hoobae, do you?" I try to make my point.
He shakes his head.
"Whatever you say, hyung." He says walking away, smirking.
I sigh.
"Jimin-ah, what was JK going on about?" Namjoon comes and sits on the couch besides me.
"Nothing, just forget about it." I say.
He looks at me, concerned and suspicious at the same time.
"It's okay, hyung, really." I assure him.
He shrugs, "What am I going to do with you kids..?"
I roll my eyes.
Namjoon may be our leader, but he's not the oldest. That's Jin, but to be fair, Namjoon acts more mature than Jin-hyung most of the time.
Some night later, after we practiced dancing for over two hours and had dinner, I went home to my own apartment. The rest of the guys went their own ways too. It's fun staying together, but we all need our space from time to time.
It's rare for us to get time to just kick back. Even if it's just for a few hours, it's a lot considered our hectic schedules which are almost always 24/7.
I was lying down when my phone suddenly started going off. It was a bunch of messages from the BangTwice group chat. I haven't checked in in a while, I guess I should see what's going on.
Taehyung: you got the invite too??
Namjoon: I wonder how many artists were invited...
Jihyo: We recieved the invite just yesterday
Nayeon: I had a feeling you guys were invited as well
Chaeyoung: well who wouldn't invite them
Jeongyeon: nation's boy group and nation's girl group 🤷♀️
Jungkook: wait, so are we going?
Namjoon: Idk JK...
Yoongi: we haven't been in a long time
Hoseok: it would be fuuun 🤗
Taehyung: can we go please??
Namjoon: Twice, are you going?
Jihyo: Twice, who wants to go?
Momo: meee
Sana: I do
Dahyun: me too
Mina: 👈
Tzuyu: I do
Jihyo: alright majority rules
Jihyo: I guess we're going
I chime in, not knowing what's going on.
Jimin: sorry, what are you all talking about?
Taehyung: always late to the party, aren't you, chim
Namjoon: we were invited to be on a show
Jimin: which show
Hoseok: The Boss Is Watching
Hoseok: dun dun dun
Jungkook: 😂
Jimin: Oh
Yoongi: When was it again?
Namjoon: Next friday at 7 pm
Yoongi: why so late
Jungkook: that's not late hyung
Yoongi: what do you mean, that's my bed time
Hoseok: Yoongi-ah 😆
Namjoon: Right then
Namjoon: we'll go too
Taehyung: Yaaay 🎉
Jungkook: Thank you hyung
Sana: yay
Jihyo: cool, we'll see you there next week 👌
Another K-pop celebrity show? Possibly with other groups too? What could go wrong?
