School is getting ready to start again and the kids are definitely dreading it. Since Aiden's birthday, he's been more quiet than before and he seems sad. I've tried to raise his spirits but nothing helps. I got him to get his license though but since then he may have driven his car once. He still won't talk to Mani or I so I asked Dinah to talk to him today. I sigh to myself then feel a pair of arms wrap around my neck.
"What's wrong?" Normani says from behind me. I'm sitting on the edge of the bed and her front is pressed against my back. She put her thighs over mine and lays her head on my shoulder. I put my hands on her thighs and sigh contentedly as she runs her fingers through my hair, her nails gently scraping my scalp. That's really relaxing.
"What's right?" I say and Normani sighs.
"Why are you rushing this? Once we give him his time, he'll be fine. This isn't anything you can just handle in a day." She says and I roll my eyes.
"I know that I just...I just want my son back. Is that so hard to ask?"
"No but it takes time Lauren." She says and I roll my eyes while she twirls a strand of my hair between her fingers.
"I know but I'm impatient."
"You don't have to tell me, I know but this really isn't something you can rush babe." I sigh and nod my head. I know she's right. She always fucking is.
"Why don't I take your mind off things?" She whispers. Her breath hitting the shell off my earlobe sends chills down my spine. I love that Normani can still turn me on so easily after all these years. She kisses my neck, below my earlobe and wraps her arms around my midsection.
"How do you plan to do that?" I ask and she slowly drags her teeth against my neck eliciting a groan from me. Fuck, she is the best distraction.
"You'll see." She says softly then kisses my neck softly. Her hands travel from my midsection to my inner thighs, where she softly rubs them through my sweatpants. Oh she feels like...

"Come on." She says and I look at her curiously.
"You're just going to stay in here all day?" She asks and I shrug.
"Get your lazy ass up and come on."
"I'm not lazy." I say and throw a pillow at her as she opens the bedroom door.
"Don't make me kick your ass Lauren." She says as she turns towards me.
"Don't make me laugh Mani." I say and she narrows her eyes at me.
"Mami!" I hear someone call from a distance. I'm guessing it was Jordan because Sierra would have just ran in here and Aiden's voice is deeper.
"What the hell did he break now?" I say as I sit up.
"Hopefully something you loved." Normani says and I roll my eyes.
"Fuck you." I say as I stand from the bed.
"Maybe later if you're good."
"No. Go fuck yourself. Preferably with something sharp, like a cactus." I say and she raises an eyebrow at me.
Just for that, I will be the only one fucking me until further notice." Oh fuck. Maybe I should have stopped while I was ahead.
"I was -"
"Nope don't want to hear it. You're cut off until I say otherwise." She walks out of the room and I follow behind her. I think I might have just fucked myself but then again I can always get out of it. I keep walking until I reach the living room. I sit on the couch next to Jordan and turn my head towards him.
"What do you want?" I ask.
"Nothing. I'm bored. Can we do something?" He asks.
"Like what?" He shrugs and I shake my head. Maybe Mani and I could take the kids out today. I'll call Dinah and tell her to just leave it alone today. Maybe today we just need some family time but what to do?
"Mani." I call out and Normani glances at me from the kitchen.
"What?"
"Come here."
"Wait." She says and I roll my eyes and watch whatever Jordan has on the TV. I hear footsteps and look to the hall to see Aiden coming in the living room.
"Can I talk to you guys for a second?" He says as he walks towards me.
"About what?" I ask and he glances at Jordan then back to me.
"Something important." He says seriously. I nod my head then stand and walk to the kitchen with him following behind.
"Mani, Aiden wants to talk." I say and Normani turns her head from the refrigerator and looks at us. She closes the refrigerator then sits on a stool at the island. I sit in a stool next to her and Aiden leans back against the kitchen counter adjacent to us.
"So...I've been thinking a lot lately and I've come to a decision." He pauses, waiting for our reactions I think.
"Spit it out kid." I say.
"I think...I want to talk to Camila." I knew it. What else could it have been? I just knew he was going to say something about her. I guess I'm fine with it.
"Okay." Normani says and I glance at Aiden. He nods his head to Normani then looks at me. I scratch my head and shrug my shoulders.
"That's fine with me. It was your decision."
"Do you know when you want to call her?" Normani asks and he shrugs.
"Soon...maybe even today...I don't know."
"Maybe you don't have to really call her...maybe text? Until you're ready to talk to her." I say and he nods.
"That's a good idea."
"Good. I'll give you her number. Ready?" Normani says. Aiden pulls his phone from the pocket of his shorts then nods his head. Normani gives him the number then he puts his phone away.
"Do you feel like you might want to see her?" I ask.
"I do want to see her in person but not anytime soon."
"You know you don't have to it alone. Lauren and I or just one of us could come with you."
"I think it'll be awkward enough without having mami there, no offense." He says and I shrug. I don't want to see myself. I think I have to prepare myself for that.
"So when are you going to text her?" I ask and he shrugs. He sits in the stool next to me and sighs.
"I don't really know what to say. Hi, it's your son? I don't really feel like I'm her son. It doesn't feel like she's my mother."
"Well she kind of isn't. Yes biologically but -"
"Mom is my mom." He says cutting me off and I nod my head.
"I know. I know that you two are my parents. She might've had me but I know who my mothers are. That's why when she sent the football and the card...I freaked out a little. Does she really expect me to call her mom? I could never say that...it feels like...I don't know. It just doesn't feel right."
"You don't have to call her that. Just say Camila."
"That's what I planned on doing." He pulls his phone back out of his pocket and types on it before sitting it in front of him.
"I just sent her a text." He says with a deep exhale of breath. I noticed his hands shook slightly when he put his phone down so I take his hand in mine. He doesn't say anything but glances at me then grips my hand tighter.
"Any plans for today?" I ask, trying to distract him.
"Nothing really...like at all." He says.
"I was thinking we could go paintball or go cart racing. Do something since you guys are going back to school." I say and he groans.
"Don't remind me." Normani and I chuckle.
"I already have an early practice tomorrow so now I have to get used to not sleeping all day."
"Lazy ass." I say.
"I'm not lazy, it just feels good to sleep." Aiden says then his phone vibrates and the screen flashes on. I feel him tense as he reaches his left hand up and grabs his phone. He breathes out in relief and says,
"It's only Christina." He says and I nod. Christina is the girl that lives a few houses down. They've been friends since we moved to this neighborhood. She's a good kid, straight A's, cheerleader and she volunteers at pet rescue. She's really pretty too. Sort of petite, light brown hair, high cheekbones and gorgeous almond shaped eyes that are a light brown. I'm surprised I haven't seen her in a while. She's always over here playing some video game with Aiden or doing something stupid. They're partners in crime and whenever Aiden does something and gets caught, she's caught too.
"I haven't seen her in awhile." Mani says as Aiden texts her back.
"Her family went to Greece to visit family." Normani nods and Aiden puts his phone back down.
"How is she?"
"Good. She said she's ready to come back home though." Aiden's phone goes off again and this time he picks it up without hesitation.
"It's Camila." He says.
"What'd she say?" Normani asks.
"She said hey, I'm glad to hear from you. How are you?"
"Well...tell her how you are." I say and Aiden exhales deeply with a small smile on his face.
"What did you expect?" Normani asks Aiden and he shrugs.
"I don't know but I'm a lot less nervous but still nervous."
"You'll be alright. Text her back silly." I say and he nods his head.
We sat there for a little while, while Aiden exchanged texts with Camila. From what I could tell, she was just keeping the conversation light. Normani and I agreed on taking the kids go cart racing for awhile then we went to a movie and out to eat. Aiden's attitude changed pretty much back to normal. I think a lot of stress has been taken off of him with talking to Camila and even though I'm not her biggest fan, I'm glad she helped get my son back to normal.
