MADISON POV
My parents and I still aren't getting along. In fact my dad sent me a really nasty text.
Dad: have Demi get full custody of you. We don't want your fat ass around here anymore.
The worst part about the text is he's right, I am fat. Before Amanda and I got expelled I was getting bullied pretty badly. Everyone called me fat and ugly. Some girls told me to kill myself because I don't deserve to be alive. I guess I really don't deserve to be. I just take up space in the house.
All of the memories of the bullies are coming back to me. I know I promised Amanda I wouldn't self harm anymore but that's all I can think of. I get my blade from under my dresser and go in the bathroom.
The cold metal sends chills down my spine as I press down. I make the first cut and move on to another one. My arm is stinging and bleeding pretty badly. I grab a black washcloth and wet it. I clean off the blood and then press down to try and get it to stop. After 5 minutes of trying to get it to stop I give up and call for help.
"AMANDA COME HERE IM IN THE BATHROOM" I yell
I feel myself start to get dizzy and I start to go unconscious.
AMANDA POV
I hear Maddie call my name so I go in the bathroom and see her on the floor unconscious and her arm covered in blood. I pick up the washcloth she used and tape it to her arm. I call an ambulance and wait for them. I brought her downstairs so we could leave quicker.
The ambulance shows up and puts her in the back.
"Are you related to her?" A paramedic asks
"Yeah" I tell him
"Do you want to ride?" He asks
"Yeah" I say
I hop in the back with Maddie and we head to the hospital. I hold her hand the whole way.
When we get there she's taken to the emergency room and I wait in the waiting room. I realize I need to call Demi.
D: hello
A: Demi come to the hospital now it's madison
D: what happened
A: I'll tell you when you get here
Demi hung up the phone. I'm guessing she's on her way.
"Family of madison de la garza" a doctor says
I stand up
"Is she okay?" I ask
"Barely" he says
"Can I see her?" I ask
"Yeah, follow me" he says
I follow the doctor and see madison hooked up to a ventilator. A tear escapes my eye and I walk over to her.
"She hit a vein and lost a lost of blood she should wake up within a couple days but it's unpredictable" the doctor explains
"Is there a mother I can speak with?" He asks
"No but her sister is on her way" I say
"How exactly are you related to her?" He asks
"I'm her sisters adoptive daughter" I explain
"Oh okay" he says
"Oh my god madison" Demi runs in the room and says
"Dems" I say and hug her
"Do you have custody of madison?" The doctor asks Demi
"Not yet" she says
"Who has custody of her?" He asks
"Her mother, but they're not speaking" Demi says
The doctor leaves to handle another patient and Demi and I sit with madison.
"What happened?" Demi asks
"She cut herself too deep. It hit a vein" I explain
"What" Demi says "has she cut before?"
"Yeah, but I caught her and we talked it out" I say
"Why didn't she tell me? Why didn't she come to one of us this time?" Demi asks
"She was afraid of how you react and I don't know but I wish she had" I reply
"well why don't I take you home so you can get some sleep" Demi says
"No I'm staying with Maddie" i state
"okay" Demi says
I sit and play on my phone for a while before getting really tired. I go lay in the bed next to Maddie's and fall asleep. I dream of Maddie not waking up and us having a funeral for her. I wake up and start crying. I see Demi asleep in the chair so I walk over to Maddie and start talking to her.
"Maddie I hope you can hear me. I love you so much and so does Demi and marissa. You're a gorgeous young lady and I don't think I could live without you. Maddie please wake up" I say
I start sobbing then feel a hand on my shoulder. Looking up, I see Maddie looking at me.
"Maddie! You're awake!?" I smile
She tries to talk but the tubes down her throat stop her.
"Ill get a doctor" I tell her
I go out to the nurses station and tell them that Maddie's awake then go back to the room. A few minutes later a doctor walks in to check on Maddie. He took all of the tubes and iv's off and left.
"I'm so glad you're okay" I tell madison
"Me too" she chokes out
"Let me get you some water" I tell her
I go over to the sink and fill my water bottle for her then bring it to her.
"Thanks" she says
"So why did you do it?" I ask
"When we were in school people were bullying me badly then once we got expelled I started getting cyber bullied and mom and dad aren't helping and dad sent me this" Maddie says then shows me a text
"Maddie from now on please come to us" I say
Maddie sighed and I squeezed her hand.
"You'll be fine Maddie I promise" I reassure her
"But what if I can't stay strong?" She asks
"Listen, any time you feel the urge to harm yourself in any way come to me, marissa, or Demi and if we're not home or if theres a specific person you want to talk to and they're not home call" I tell her
"Okay" she frowns
"get some sleep now okay" I tell her
"Cuddle with me?" She asks
"Of course!" I smile
I get in the bed with Maddie and we fall asleep.
I wake up to Demi on the phone.
"I'm go to sleep and she has tubes and iv's and I wake up and she doesn't I obviously missed something"
"That's what happens when you're a heavy sleeper" I say
"What the? Amanda?" Demi say
"I was awake when she woke up so I got the doctor" I say
"And you couldn't wake me up?" Demi asks
"You looked adorable I couldn't" I say in defense
Demi groans and I look at Maddie. She looks so peaceful and happy.
Demi went to talk to the doctor and when she came back she said Maddie could leave once she wakes up. He also have her a prescription for anti-depressants.
Maddie finally wakes up and we head to the car.
"Demi are you mad?" She asks
"Of course not" Demi replies
"I'm sorry for not coming to you" Maddie says
"Maddie it's okay it happened It's over with we're going to help you now okay" Demi says
When we get home marissa engulfs Maddie in a hug.
"I'm so glad you're okay" she tells Maddie
"Me too" Maddie says "me too"
The four of us, well 5 if you count the baby hug.
