3rd Person POV
[A boy sits anxiously in the stands waiting for someone. He looks like one of the boys from the screens. He taps his feet in fear. That person he was waiting for was late. Who was late? Jaden Yuki. His brother. Jaden's family found JP on the streets and adopted him. He and Jaden have been close ever since. A girl with Indigo hair walks over to him. This is his best friend: Celina. She had just finished her entrance exam to enter Duel Academy]
Celina: He's late isn't he?
JP: He always is for everything. Sorry I missed your duel.
Celina: It's cool. You didn't miss much. It was almost too easy.
JP: Well, that's good. I guess.
Celina: Remember your promise.
JP: I know.
[Jaden runs in]
Jaden: Sorry I'm late.
JP: You need to go to the check in.
Jaden: Right.
[Jaden runs away]
Celina: What class do you think you made?
JP: I was told I was in Obelisk Blue.
Celina: Wow. That's good. I honestly don't know where they'll put me.
[JP hears Jaden shout]
Jaden: Oh, come on!
[JP and Celina run to see Jaden is being lectured by Dr. Crowler]
Jaden: Can you please give just one chance?
Crowler: We don't allow slackers into this school. You'll just have to come back next year.
JP: Please, Doctor. Let him in.
Crowler: Who are you?
JP: I'm JP Yuki, sir.
Crowler: Ah, yes, you're the boy who passed with flying colors. Well, tell you what. You beat me in a duel and I'll let your brother have a chance. If you lose you'll have to come back next year.
Celina: JP, don't do it. You're already in. Don't give up your shot.
Jaden: Yeah, bro. This is on me. You don't have to do this.
JP: I won't go to this school without you, Jaden. You have a deal, Dr. Crowler.
Crowler: This way, young man.
[Crowler walks JP to the duel arena]
Celina: Jaden, if he doesn't get in I'm kill you.
[Off in the distance two Obelisk Blue students watch on. They are Zane Truesdale and Alexis Rhodes]
Alexis: That boy is brave to stand up for his brother.
Zane: Either that or he's just in way over his head.
Alexis: Have you seen him duel before?
Zane: No. This would be the first time.
Alexis: Well, let's see what he's got.
Alexis POV
Alexis: (Thoughts) I believe he can do it.
Zane POV
Zane: (Thoughts) This kid is in way over his head.
[Crowler faces JP. Crowler activates his duel vest while JP activates his duel disk]
Jaden POV
Jaden: (Thoughts) What have I done?
[My thoughts are interrupted by two other people who have already completed their tests. They are Syrus Truesdale and Bastion Misawa]
Syrus: You must have a great brother if he's going to stand up for you. I have serious brother issues.
Jaden: Yeah, he's the best little brother a boy could have.
Bastion: I hope he knows what he's doing.
3rd Person POV
[The duel between Dr. Crowler and JP is about to begin]
Crowler: You ready, young scholar?
JP: As ready as I'll ever be. Get your game on!
JP POV
JP: (Thoughts) I'm not sure if I can do this.
Voice: Don't worry. You're not alone. I'll help you.
[JP is confused on where the voice is coming from but he refocuses himself]
Crowler POV
Crowler: (Thoughts) You'll regret facing me.
3rd Person POV
Turn 1- JP
JP-8000 LP/Crowler-8000 LP
JP: I'll start. My turn. I summon Cyber Dragon Core in ATK Mode.
Cyber Dragon Core: Level 2-400 ATK/1500 LP
JP: This monster's special ability allows me to add a "Cyber Dragon" Spell/Trap Card from my deck to my hand. I add Cyber Repair Plant to my hand. Its name becomes Cyber Dragon. Turn end.
Turn 2- Crowler
JP-8000 LP/Crowler-8000 LP
Crowler: Summoning a weak monster? I'm not impressed. You're in way over your head. My turn. I draw. I special summon from my hand Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders.
Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders: Level 7-1600 ATK/3000 DEF
Jaden: That's one powerful monster especially with an effect like that.
Celina: JP can take it down.
Crowler: It can be special summoned by banishing two Earth or Dragon monsters from my hand.
JP: You activated the special ability of my Cyber Dinosaur!
Cyber Dinosaur: Level 7-2500 ATK/1900 DEF
JP: It can be special summoned from my hand when you special summon a monster from your hand!
Crowler: Now my monster will attack your Cyber Dragon!
[Crowler's monster destroys JP's Cyber Dragon]
JP: Ahh!
JP-8000 LP - - - 6800 LP
Celina: JP!
Crowler: Feeling desperate yet? I end my turn with a face down. You're move.
Turn 3- JP
JP-6800 LP/Crowler-8000 LP
JP: My turn. Draw. I play the spell card: Swords of Revealing Light! Now you can't attack for three turns.
[Light swords appear on Crowler's side of the field]
Crowler: You're just stalling.
JP: We'll see. I play the spell card: Cyber Repair Plant. When I have a "Cyber Dragon" in my Graveyard, I can add 1 LIGHT Machine-Type monster from my deck to my hand. I choose: Cyber Dragon Drei. It won't stay in my hand for long. I now summon it!
Cyber Dragon Drei: Level 4-1800 ATK/800 DEF
JP: This monster's name becomes Cyber Dragon. Battle. Now Cyber Dragon, attack his monster! Strident Blast!
[Crowler's monster is destroyed]
Crowler: Barely a scratch.

JP: Might be that way now but not when my second monster attacks! Cyber Dinosaur, attack Crowler directly!
Crowler: Ahh!

Celina: Way to go, JP!
JP: Turn end.

Crowler: You'll pay for that! My turn. I draw. I play the spell card: Terraforming! This allows me to add a Field Spell to my hand. I add Geartown and I'll activate it now. Now I can Normal Summon "Ancient Gear" monsters for 1 less Tribute. I end my turn.
Turn 5- JP

JP: My turn. Draw. Time to end this.
Crowler: You're not ending anything.
JP: Yes, I am, Doctor. There is no next turn! I summon Cyber Dragon Zwei in ATK Mode!
Cyber Dragon Zwei: Level 4-1500 LP/1000 DEF
JP: Battle. You're completely defenseless, Doctor. This is the end. Cyber Dinosaur, attack Crowler directly!
Crowler: Not so fast! I activate the spell card: Double Cyclone. This allows me to destroy both our spell cards!
JP: You destroyed your own Field Spell?
Crowler: Yes. When it's destroyed I can special summon 1 "Ancient Gear" monster from my hand, deck, or Graveyard! Please welcome: Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon!

Crowler: Now who's ending things?
Celina: Oh no! JP!
JP: You got lucky. It's not over yet. When the dueling gets tough, the tough get dueling! I play a face down. Turn end.
Turn 6- Crowler

Crowler: My turn. I draw. Now tremble in fear in the sight of my great monster!
JP: Too early to celebrate! I activate my Trap Card: Compulsory Evacuation Device! Say goodbye to your monster because it's going back to your hand!
Crowler: No! Doesn't matter! I can summon my dragon back from my Graveyard! By banishing 2 EARTH/Dragon-type monsters from my hand I can bring it back!
[Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders reappears]
Celina: Oh no!
Crowler: Now my monster will attack your Cyber Dragon Zwei!
[Crowler's monster destroys JP's monster]
JP-6800 LP - - - 6700 LP
JP: Only lost 100 LP. Not bad. When that monster is sent to the it becomes another Cyber Dragon. I'm happy to see that dragon again. I'm glad to destroy it a second time.
Crowler: Humph. Well. I end my turn.
Turn 7- JP
JP-6700 LP/Crowler-5300 LP
JP: My turn. Draw. I summon Cyber Valley in ATK Mode.
Cyber Valley: Level 1-0 ATK/0 DEF
JP: I send all three of my monsters to the Graveyard to fusion summon! I fusion summon: Chimeratech Fortress Dragon!
Chimeratech Fortress Dragon: ??? ATK/??? DEF
JP: This monster's ATK is the amount of monsters I used to summon it. I used three so its ATK raises to 3000 ATK
Chimeratech Fortress Dragon: 0 ATK - - - 3000 ATK
JP: Battle. Now my monster will attack your dragon! Sonic Screech!
[JP's monster destroys Crowler's monster]
Crowler: Ahh!
Crowler-5300 LP - - - 3900 LP
JP: I activate the spell card: De-Fusion! My monster returns to the extra deck.
Crowler: Did you think your monsters would return and you could attack again? Someone didn't do his homework!
JP: Urk. Turn end.
Turn 8- Crowler

Crowler: It's my turn. I draw. I can't do anything. I end my turn.
Turn 9- JP

JP: My turn. Draw. That was your last chance. Time to end this. I activate the spell card: Overload Fusion! I can banish all my monsters in my graveyard to fusion summon a DARK Machine-Type Fusion Monster. I banish five monsters. I fusion summon! Chimeratech Overdragon!

Crowler: What is that?
JP: The monster that will defeat you. My monster gets 800 LP for every monster that was banished. I banished five, so my monster gets 4000 ATK.
Chimeratech Overdragon: 0 ATK - - - 4000 ATK
JP: This is the end! Chimeratech Overdragon, attack! Evolution Result Burst!
Crowler: Ahh!
Crowler-3900 LP - - - 0 LP
Winner: JP
JP: That's game.
[The crowd cheers]
Celina/Jaden/Alexis: He did it!
Celina: I thought he was a goner.
Jaden: Well looks like he's staying and I'm getting my shot.
[Crowler walks over to JP]
Crowler: Well done. You won fair and square. I see why you're put in Obelisk Blue. Your brother will get his chance.
[The crowd cheers and JP waves to the crowd]
JP: Yeah! I did it!
[Alexis sees this and smiles]
Alexis: That boy has a bright future here. I'm glad he's staying.
Zane: Well, when he faces me and my deck he better be ready.
[Zane walks away while Alexis continues to watch and smile. Meanwhile, Bastion walks near a boy named Chazz Princeton]
Bastion: I'm glad he stayed. I could use a rival.
Chazz: He's not your rival. I'm going to the be the first one to take him down.
[Celina runs to JP and hugs him. He hugs her back. They then quickly let go of each other and have blush over their faces. A certain girl in the stands saw this and wasn't happy. Off in the distance there is a boy who is watching. He has a certain duel spirit floating behind him. The boy's duel disk glows and he disappears]
