Louis' POV:

"Come on, LouBear! I'll be your best friend?" Harry gave me an exaggerated smile, his eyes squinted so much that they were closed and his dimples prominent on his face.

I tried not to show him that I found him funny, but I ended up letting out a quiet laugh. Harry opened his eyes at the sound, but his smile grew impossibly bigger.

"I see you're laughing!" He exclaimed, pumping his fist in the air. "Get out of the car with me?" He smiled.

"Stop being such a fuc-freaking dork, and then maybe." I mumbled, feeling the corners of my lips quirk into a smile before I could stop it.

"Someone's gotta embarrass you." He shrugged. "And they're all too cool." He gestured to the rest of the lads who were waiting for us outside the car.

"Fine." I huffed, finally giving in to his nagging. He had been trying to convince me to get out of the car and go to a carnival we drove past on the way home for about five minutes.

"Yay!" Harry celebrated, jumping out of the car. I shook my head and followed him to where everyone was standing.

Him and Niall were already walking toward the line as I started walking a bit slower with Liam and Zayn.

"He convinced you?" Liam offered a smile. I nodded, making him laugh.

"I swear the only reason he went to law school is to convince people to go to carnivals with him." Zayn rolled his eyes.

"I'd believe it." I smiled.

We all walked up to the ticket vender and Harry greeted her.

"What can I do for you?" She greeted politely.

"Convince him to let me go home." I muttered, trying to distract myself from the terrifying rides that surrounded me. The lady looked a bit surprised by my blunt answer, but she then started to laugh along with the rest of the boys.

"Ignore him please." Harry rolled his eyes, his lips twisted into a fond grin. I smiled as I watched Harry try to pay the least amount for tickets as possible. He handed out the wristbands that were the cheapest option.

I looked around at the roller coasters and exhaled shakily, trying to calm down. Hearing people screaming on the rides and seeing the crowds of people waiting in line made my heart start to race.

"Here you go, Lou." Harry grinned as he gave me a wristband. I took the band with shaky hands. I struggled to secure it on my wrist and I couldn't get the sticky part to stay on as my palms were sweating quite a bit. My repeated failure caused me to groan in frustration.

Harry noticed me and wordlessly took it from my hands. He wrapped it around my wrist, while continuing his conversation with Liam.

It almost annoyed me how that small action made me smile. I couldn't understand why.

"Which one are we looking at, Lou?" Harry asked. The question made my heart rate increase and I wiped my sweaty palms on my shirt.

"Uh..." I looked around again, none of the rides looking very appealing to me. I found myself shaking my head as I continued to look for the least intimidating one. "I don't... I don't know." I responded quietly, crossing my arms.

They all decided to go on the biggest ride at the carnival and I was much too embarrassed to admit that I didn't want to go on this ride.

I tried to calm myself down, but I would jump every time the ride zoomed past us and I could hear the anxiety inducing screams.

"I think I'll just wait over there for you guys." I finally worked up the courage to get out of the situation.

"What?" Harry turned to me. "We're like six people away from going on." He told me.

"I-I just don't want to do this, okay?" I huffed, turning around and walking to the end of the line.

"Lou!" I heard behind me. I didn't turn around until I felt a hand on my shoulder. I could feel many rings, giving away the fact that it was Harry.

"Are you okay, darling?" He asked, taking me by the bicep and gently directing me away from people trying to get by us.

"I don't have to go on a roller coaster. Like that's not something you should force me to do." I said defensively, running a hand through my hair. I watched his expression change into pure confusion at my small rant.

"I'm not forcing you to do anything, we can do what ever you want." He kept his voice monotone and calm.

"You forced me to come into this carnival and get this stupid wristband and... I don't know." I trailed off, realizing he really didn't force me to do anything. He was sickeningly considerate and waited with me in the car for five minutes before I was okay coming in.

"You're going to loose your place in line." I said, watching as Niall, Liam, and Zayn were calling us to get back in line because they were next.

"It's okay. I don't really like roller coasters that much." He, very obviously, lied with a cheeky smile. "Come on, there's other stuff to do here!" He kept his energetic spirit as we started wandering the carnival.

Harry seemed to not care about why I didn't want to go on the roller coaster or, more likely, he figured it out. Either way, it was making me anxious that he wasn't mentioning it.

He finished a ring toss game. "That was really hard." He huffed, as he didn't get a single ring in the right spot. I must have been showing my anxiousness, because he started to look concerned. "Are you okay?"

"Uh, well, n-nnyeah. I mean... yeah. I'm just kind of wondering why you're not asking me about why I didn't go on the roller coaster. I don't know if you just don't care or if you already know. And it's stressing me out." I rambled, kicking my feet, watching my sneakers get even dirtier.

"I thought you'd appreciate me not talking about it." He told me, his smile fading.

"Yeah, me too!" I groaned frustratedly.

"Well, do you want to talk about it?" He offered cautiously. I let out a sigh.

"I've just never... I've never been on a roller coaster. It's making me nervous. I mean no one took me to places like this, so... I don't really know what I'm saying." I admitted.

I was about to look up at him to see why he wasn't responding, when I felt his arms wrap around me and give me a tight squeeze.

"I'm sorry." I heard him say quietly. I could feel the guilt in his tone, making my heart hurt in a way I hadn't experienced in years. I silently cursed at myself for my choice of words, I didn't mean to blame him for not taking me.

I didn't want him to be upset.

I allowed myself to enjoy the embrace and let my head fall to his shoulder.

"It's not your fault." I mumbled into his coat, bringing my arms up to hold him back.

"I'm still sorry." He responded. "I should've done more for you." He started to sway slightly, making me smile as I was rocked back and forth.

"You did more than enough." I didn't really know how to respond to him. I wasn't used to him being vulnerable around me.

I felt him nod and start to sway even more. I couldn't contain my laughter as he practically began to slow dance with me in the middle of this carnival next to a guy selling stuffed animals.

I tried to pull away, as I was becoming a but self conscious that people were watching us, but Harry wouldn't let go of me. He continued to hold me and sway. He began humming "Dancing in the Moonlight" quietly.

"Let me go, Harry!" I laughed, giving up and just letting him rock me back and forth to the beat of the song he was humming.

"What? I can't hear you over the music." He started humming louder. I stopped holding him and tried to push him away, but he was much stronger and kept me securely in his arms.

"Harry?" I tried again. "Harry!" The humming got louder. "Hazza!" I giggled.

"Okay, okay." He chuckled, finally letting go. I wiped my coat down dramatically. I couldn't help but notice the fond look he was giving me as he stuffed his hands into his pockets.

"Heya, ducklings!" I heard Niall yell as the rest of the lads were walking toward us, causing a few people to look at him.

"Ducklings?" Harry looked to me and I shrugged.

"What happened? Why'd you guys leave?" Zayn asked, looking from me to Harry.

I looked to Harry immediately, hoping he would understand that I don't want them to know I'm not the biggest fan of roller coasters.

"Well, I've been meaning to tell you guys for a while..." He took a dramatic pause. "I'm actually pregnant, so no roller coasters for me." He deflected the question easily. They all let it go after that and continued to joke with Harry.

Harry convinced me to go on the carousel, since I was never afraid of heights. We all piled in the ride. I sat in between Harry and Zayn while Niall and Liam sat across from us.

"Look at the sunset!" Harry chirped happily when we started moving upwards.

"Fuck that's pretty." Zayn exclaimed.

"Watch your fucking language." I scolded him, just for the sake of seeing Harry's reaction. He ended up smacking me lightly on the back of my head and then reaching over me and doing the same to Zayn.

"Louis, your blocking the view." Liam said, while trying to get a picture of the sunset.

"He is the view, you twat." Niall joked, sending me an exaggeratedly bad wink. I rolled my eyes at the sudden compliment as the rest of them laughed. We all crouched down so that Liam could take the photo.

"Do you guys want to like hangout with people your age?" I asked, the question had been on my mind all day. I've never been very good at judging when to say things. There's no way they all willingly want to hang out with a teenager.

"What?" Harry turned to me as much as he could as we were pretty squished together in the ride.

"Older people are pretty boring." Niall responded.

"And I don't know if you've noticed but Niall's mental age is definitely younger than you." Liam added, getting a fake hurt  expression from Niall.

"I guess that's true." I smiled at Niall.

"Come on! I just complimented you and now you're teaming up on me?" He shouted playfully.

I turned to Harry who was being uncharacteristically quiet and saw him frowning a bit.

"If you would only see yourself how I see you—how you actually are." Harry shook his head.

"Don't get all weird and sappy on me." I groaned, trying not to smile. I could, however, feel my cheeks heat up at his sincere words.

"I can't help it, Louis!" Harry exclaimed, a big smile on his face.

"Shut up please." I buried my face in my hands. I felt Zayn's hand on my back and heard all of them laugh.

"I've like no matter where the conversation starts, it always ends up embarrassing Louis." Liam smiled.

"Yeah, I've noticed that too." I rolled my eyes.

"Well we've got to keep that streak going." Harry announced. "Who wants to hear a story about Louis when he was little?"
