You were a maid of the Phantomhive manor, your parents worked at the manor before they died of some health conditions that came with working here. So now it was your duty to look after the manor and your new master, Ciel Phantomhive. You were one of the more competent workers of the Phantomhive manor and often tried to help the others with their tasks. Sebastian was obviously better than you and seemed to hate you for some reason. You never understood it, you were more helpful than the others and always completed your tasks on time.
"Hey (Y/N)! Can I see your drawings pretty, pretty please?" Finny begs after you just helped him with weeding. You loved drawing and writing stories, you always kept your drawing book close. Well it wasn't a book, it was more of a stack of papers that you've collected from Ciel's trash bin that were the start of letters to others and people he's in business with. You made sure to cover the writing with some spare white paint that you used very sparingly, especially if it was almost full with words. You never read them, you were living in a completely different world than Master Ciel so you had no right to. You also had some charcoal from cleaning some of the fire places around the manor, you always kept a piece with you and always drew everyone doing their everyday duties or other things, you even drew Ciel sometimes. Though you had less pictures of him because Sebastian was always around. Your friends Finny and Mei-Rin enjoyed looking at your sketchbook greatly while Baldroy claimed that it would get you in trouble with the Master if Sebastian ever found out. The pages were bound with some old string you found and they've kept together pretty well through the years.
"Sure" you pulled the small book out of your apron and gave it to him, leaning on his shoulder as you watched him flip through.
"Wow (Y/N)! You really have a talent for this, I bet if you got some real training you would be the best painter in all of London!" Finny grins, you shyly looked away.
"Yeah right, like that's ever going to happen" you mutter.
"Aww chin up don't be like that! We've got it pretty good here, besides you never know what'll happen in the future. You're very bright and talented so something good is destined to happen soon. I just know it." Finny encourages you, you smile.
"Thanks Finny, you have a real talent for cheering people up"
"And what is going on over here?" Finny, hearing Ciel's voice, quickly gave you the book which you stuffed in your apron.
"Ah Master Ciel! Me and (Y/N) just finished sprucing up the garden! We thought maybe we could take a quick breather before helping Mei-Rin-"
"Well your break is over, so get back to work" Ciel orders.
"Yes Master Ciel, come on Finny let's go" You pulled Finny away as you ran to go help Mei-Rin, out of earshot from Sebastian and Ciel.
"I don't get what you see in her Young Master" Sebastian comments, clicking his tongue. He found you nothing but trouble, sure you were efficient but you were never neat, organized and most importantly professional. Your side of the maid quarters was a mess, somehow even though you didn't have that much stuff. You often did weird things, like hum random tunes or telling the strangest and silliest stories to the others during a large scale cleaning or during the servant meals between the bites of food that Sebastian would prepare. He also found that as of late the Young Master has been distracted during his lessons, he almost immediately figured out it was your doing.
"If I didn't know any better, I would think you were jealous Sebastian"
"That is not it at all, there are many fine, noble girls that could easily be your bride to be. I just don't see why instead of a composed, sophisticated young woman you would take such interest in a peasant like her."
"Don't speak of her so, she is much more than a peasant Sebastian"
"Very well Young Master, but I just don't get it. I don't get it at all." However Sebastian had a plan, he saw that notebook, if he even could call it that, before you put it in your apron. He had a hunch you stole it from Ciel. If he learned anything from human nature he knew masters hated their servants stealing from them. So that night he used his demon powers to sneak into your room and stole the sketchbook from your apron.

"Where is it?! Where is it!? Where is it!!" You shout with panic as you looked around, trying to find your sketchbook.
"What's wrong (Y/N), did you lose your sketchbook?" Mei-rin asks with concern.
"Yeah and I can't find it anywhere!" You groan, banging your head against the wall with disappointment.
"Now, now, I'm sure we can find it yes we can!" Mei-rin tries to comfort you.
"What's the commotion over here?" Sebastian asks, glaring at you specifically.
"Well you see-" you covered Mei-rin's mouth.
"Nothing! I just realized I didn't get enough soap from the store room for mopping the floor, I should probably go get that" you began to step in the direction of the storeroom before Sebastian stopped you.
"No, Mei-rin could do it. The Young Master wishes to speak with you." Sebastian says, suddenly looking very smug. Mei-rin looked at you worriedly as Sebastian led you down the hall. You nodded and smiled back to her confidently before turning the corner. Based on the little smirk Sebastian had this was about something bad, for you at least. He opened the door, allowing you to pass through as you saw Ciel at his desk, flipping through a book. Not any book, it was your sketchbook!
"You can leave now Sebastian" Ciel dismisses him.
"M...master Ciel I can explain-!"
"These are very good you know, how long have you been doing this?" He asks, you played with the hem of your apron, not looking him directly in the eyes, or...er eye.
"A few years now..." you admit.
"Some of my handwriting is still on these pages, you don't happen to be a spy do you?" Ciel asks casually, his one blue eye finally looking to you.
"N...no of course not Master! I just needed paper that's all! I only used the pages with the least amount of writing, promise!"
"Well if you needed paper why didn't you just ask?" Ciel asks, opening a drawer.
"B...because...I knew you would say no Master...so what was the point?" You answer.
"Are you sure about that?" Ciel asks, walking in front of you holding your sketchbook, a real sketchbook and a small wooden box.
"Master Ciel are you serious? I can't accept this, it must've costed a fortune!"
"Let me worry the cost and as your Master I order you to take this. Think of it as a gift for all your hard work you've done." He says with the most serious face ever, your ears turned pink.
"O...k...thank you so much Master Ciel" you bowed slightly as you took the gifts from him.
"W...whatever, just don't expect the work to get easier. You'll still have to work hard around here, you can take your leave now" Ciel turned around.
"I understand, thank you Master" you left the study with a spring in your step. You passed Sebastian as his smirk turned to a frown at the things you were carrying.
"Hey Mei-rin, I'm going to go put this in my room real quick then I'll come back to help!" You call.
"Alright (Y/N), don't be too long, not long at all. I really need help here, yes I do" you nodded and quickly ran to your room, storing your new sketchbook and wooden box under the floorboard. You had a few pages left so you were going to use it up first before using that fresh new one. You put it back in your apron before going to help Mei-rin finish the floor.

"Ok Pluto sit" along with your other duties you also had to train Pluto since you were impeccably good with dogs. You remember during one particularly cool night you went out to get some fresh air for your headache, that's when you first met Pluto. You screamed before fainting, as anyone would when they saw a giant dog. Mei-rin excitedly told you that after your scream Ciel seemed more panicked as they searched, though it was really hard to spot. However the excitement wasn't what you thought, Mei-rin had a strange craving for scary stories and she loved retelling scary stories to others. Especially when this one involved you. It took a long time to find you and when they did you were carried between Pluto's teeth. Everyone thought you were dead, but Baldroy pointed out that there was no blood and Pluto was carrying you gently. When Pluto saw them he put you down gently by some of the rocks near the ruin before turning his attention to the others. Mei-rin told you Ciel constantly wanted to know your condition before you woke up a about an hour later. Pluto did as you asked.
"Good job, now lie down, roll over. Good boy!" You grinned, scratching the fur on his muzzle before giving him the treat.
"Now let's try that new trick" you made guns with your fingers as Pluto sat, "bang bang." Pluto put a paw over his heart, swaying a bit before falling with a big thump with his eyes closed. After a few seconds he cracked open one eye.
"That was great! Your such a good boy!" You grin, giving him another treat. Pluto gave you a giant sloppy lick.
"Ew! Pluto!" You giggled, trying to sound mad but not.
"Now I need to go change, stay!" You order as Pluto lied down. You walked through the hall.
"Pluto is too cute for his own good" you mumble, trying not to let the saliva drip on the wood floor that just got cleaned. You passed Ciel in the hallway.
"Pluto?" Ciel asks, just by taking one look at your clothes.
"Yeah, but he's been doing great with his training."
"I shouldn't be surprised, you've always had a way with dogs. I believe Sebastian has finished with the servant clothing, you should be able to find another dress on your bed"
"R...really? Thanks for letting me know Master. I'll go change right away and get back to work! Promise!" You grin, running to your room. You changed to your second maid outfit that was pretty much a carbon copy of the first one. You put it on before taking a moment, realizing that the fabric seemed softer. You inspected the maid dress, realizing that it wasn't your second copy, but a completely new and slightly more fancy dress.
"Should I even wear this? It looks too nice to get ruined" you comment to yourself. "But who would buy me a new dress, it would cost a lot, too much for it to be one of my friends." Wait a second, could...could the Young Master have bought this for me? No way, I'm just a servant girl, what would he have to gain by buying me a new maid dress you thought. You decided to wear it anyway, perhaps it could clue you in on who possibly could've bought it by everyone's reaction to your new dress.
"Wow! (Y/N)! You look very pretty in that dress, yes you do!" Mei-rin shouts as she noticed your presence.
"Blimey! That must've been a fortune! Who bought you such an expensive dress?" Baldroy asks.
"I...um, I honestly have no clue, I just found it on my bed." You answer with confusion.
"Hey (Y/N) do you mind if I hang out with Pluto for a little while?" Finny asks.
"Sure, I don't mind" you answer with a small smile.
"Thank you (Y/N)! Come on Pluto!" Pluto, hearing his name, began running after Finny excitedly.
"Do you think....the Young Master bought the dress for (Y/N)?" Mei-rin asks.
"No way, he's probably in love with some other noble girl" Baldroy answers, before seeing your expression. "I mean it's not that your not great and all (Y/N), it's just the Young Master is of a higher class and-"
"No, I get it, I probably shouldn't get my hopes too high" you answer with the shake of your head.
"Who bought (Y/N) the dress then?" Mei-rin questions thoughtfully.
"Well if it wasn't you and it wasn't me, it definitely couldn't be Finny or the young master, could it be, Sebastian maybe?" Baldroy asks.
"Sebastian? It's possible, but it seems more like Sebastian hates her than anything, yes he does" Mei-rin points out.
"Maybe it could've been from one of the visitors the Young Master hosts on occasion" Baldroy suggest, you all decided to go with that.

It was nighttime and you used the moonlight to finish your last sketch. After you made sure Mei-rin was asleep you went under the floorboard and got the new sketchbook Ciel got you along with the wooden box. You were very curious to see what was inside so you opened it up and there was a small note.
'You complete me' was what it read, you blushed a bit, there was no way Ciel wrote this. Though it was in his handwriting, underneath the note was a complete pencil set with erasers. (I did my research and the first season of Black Butler takes place in 1888, you can tell in the Jeff the Killer arc at the end when Ciel stands over a grave and the date of when that person died is 1888. Pencils and erasers were invented like 20+ years before then, ok back to the story now). You squealed quietly from excitement and began your first drawing, reminding yourself to thank Ciel again once you saw him again.

You heard a crinkle in your new dress as you and Mei-rin got ready for the day. You looked in your apron pocket and found a note.
'I fall for you everytime I see you' in fancy handwriting, especially too fancy for Ciel.
"Come on (Y/N), we've got much to do today yes we do" Mei-rin prompts you, you shoved the note back in your apron.
"Coming!"

Over the next few weeks you've received many lavish gifts, from a small box of chocolates to a book or two on art or other subjects you were interested in. They always came with a small note and by now you had a small collection of notes from your Secret Admirer and no one knew, except for Sebastian, but he's made it very clear he wasn't going to spill when questioned. If you didn't know any better he found much satisfaction from your struggle, but you knew better. Currently you were helping the others unload the ingredients for the manor that you got weekly. You lost your train of thought for where the cabbages went and turned on your heel, going to ask Baldroy before realizing you weren't in the best place to do that and you slipped, your first instinct was keeping a firm hold on the cabbage box.
"(Y/N)!" Mei-rin shouts worriedly as you fell, you gasped slightly,
feeling the wind knocked out of you before you sat up."Are you ok (Y/N)?" Baldroy asks, running over as well as your other friends.
"Yeah I think I'm-" you went to stand, but the pain from your ankle made you sit back down. You took off your sock and saw your ankle was bruised, a lot. Like it was so purple and blue it looked like that should be your natural skin color.
"That doesn't look too good no it doesn't" Mei-rin says worriedly.
"I'm fine guys, I can still walk, just give me a second"
"No way (Y/N)! You sit right there!"
"Finny, I'm fine, it's just a bruise see?" You say, getting up as he began to panic. You did your best to conceal your pain and Finny was going to say something but Baldroy beat him to it.
"Alright (Y/N), if you say your fine then your fine" he picked up the cabbage crate that you put down after you fell.
"These go in the bottom drawer right next to the lettuce"
"Thanks Baldroy, I'll be back soon for the tomatoes" you carefully walked down the stairs that led into the kitchen. Each step more agonizing than the last. While you were gone Baldroy turned to Finny and pulled him to the side.
"Run as fast as you can to the Young Master's office and tell him what's going on with (Y/N). If anyone can convince her to stop while she's injured it's him." He instructs him, he nods and runs to Ciel's office.
"Young Master!" Finny busted through the doors.
"Yes Finny? What's the matter?" Ciel asks, finishing up some paperwork before sipping his tea.
"It's (Y/N)!" Ciel's eye widened as his posture stiffened.
"What about her?" He asks.
"She hurt her ankle really bad and she refuses to stop working. Your the only one who can convince her to stop and rest." Sebastian sighed.
"That girl never knows when enough is enough, such a strong work ethic and stubbornness can often lead to things like this." Sebastian shook his head in feint disappointment while his smirk said otherwise.
"That is enough Sebastian, Finny, do you know where (Y/N) is now?" Ciel asks.
"As far as I know she's still out helping the others unload the truck, this way" Finny led them to where you were carrying the box of potatoes.
"Stupid Baldroy and his sucky hearing...I obviously said tomatoes...now I have to carry these stupid lumps of Ireland" you grumble unhappily as your ankle shook while carrying the potatoes.
"(Y/N)! What are you doing?!" Ciel calls, slightly upset.
"Are you that defensive about potatoes?" You question with a confused look, even though you knew exactly what he was talking about.
"What? No! Your injured and yet you continue to work, you need to go lie down and wait for the doctor"
"But I can still-"
"That's an order (Y/N)"
"...fine..." you gave the box to Baldroy as you hobbled back to your room, Finny caught up to you and offered to scooped you up bridal style.
"I'm sorry (Y/N), but you would just get hurt more and we can't have that can we?" Finny tries to reason, you merely pouted and he sighs. He set you on your bed.
"I should probably go help the others, do you need anything?" Finny asks, knowing enough to use the winter blankets to prop your injured ankle up.
"Unless if you have magical healing powers to help me get working again"
"N...no, sorry, don't you move off that bed ok? I'll check on you later" Finny closed the door before you heard his footsteps repeat. You could've gotten out of bed but you were a little sat with Ciel's actions, he never used the word 'order' with you guys, unless if it was Sebastian. You must've screwed up really badly to get him so frustrated with you. You continued to think before Finny, as promised went to check on you and told you that the Young Master wanted you in another room. You just nodded before Mei-rin shooed him out so she could help you into you night clothes and helped you pack your stuff before Finny was allowed back in to help you to your new room.
"T...this is a guest room! Are you sure the Young Master wants me here?!" You ask with a gasp.
"Yeah, he said this room specifically" Finny reassures before helping you into bed and propping up your ankle again.
"I should start the night chores, do you need anything (Y/N)?" Finny asks. Most of your stuff was scattered on the bed or nightstand for easy access.
"Why did he do it?" You wonder.
"Do what?"
"Put me up here, why did he do it?"
"I think so the doctor has easier access when he arrives tomorrow, but I'm not entirely sure." You nodded.
"Thanks Finny" he smiled.
"It's no problem (Y/N), sleep well" he closed the door, and you didn't go to sleep, in fact you stayed up for quite awhile reading before you felt yourself get a little tired. In the back of your mind you were surprised how soft the bed was, it was like a giant marshmallow (Yes, those were also invented before 1888). Even being a little tired you still fell asleep in the giant marshmallow of a bed.

"(Y/N), (Y/N), wake up" Mei-rin shook your shoulder lightly.
"Hey, what time is it?" You ask groggily, first to come to mind was how you could possibly be late to get to work.
"Now if you think your going to work today you've got another thing coming (Y/N), yes you do!" Mei-rin says, setting your breakfast on you with one of those breakfast in bed tables.
"This looks fancier than usual"
"The Young Master asked for it, for you, yes he did" Mei-rin nodded.
"What? Why?"
"He thinks more nutrition will help you get better, yes he does. But I sense something else yes I do." Mei-rin says, "do you wish me to keep you company?"
"No, it's fine, I'm probably making the manor behind schedule enough as is. You go and help everyone out for me 'kay?" You ask, Mei-rin nods.
"I will for you (Y/N), yes I will!" Mei-rin left as you began to eat, when you were done you carefully stacked the plates and used the table as a better way to read. You soon became bored, not knowing how long you were in the room for, until the door opened. It was Ciel and Sebastian. He was somehow carrying a chair and a tea set at the same time. He set the chair down by your bedside as Ciel sat in it.
"How are you feeling?" He asks.
"My ankle still hurts a bit, but can't I help out just a little?" You ask.
"No, you don't want your ankle to worsen and be put on bedrest longer do you? You've already pushed yourself too much yesterday" Ciel points out.
"...sorry...I guess I just didn't want to seem weak...your the Master of the manor, Sebastian somehow does everything perfectly, Finny's super strong, Baldroy has his flamethrower and Mei-rin is a great conversationalist...I just...I just didn't want to be left out you know? Everyone has something really great about them and then there's me...I just want to have something that stands out to others...you know?" You ask, turning your head slightly away from Ciel. Sebastian served Ciel his tea.
"Sebastian, go wait for the doctor to arrive, I wish to speak to (Y/N) privately" Sebastian sighs.
"Very well, if that is what you wish Young Master" he left the room.
"Are you going to drink your tea or what? It'll get cold soon" Ciel asks. You looked at him in surprise.
"T..tea for me?"
"Of course, it is tea time, and it's herbal tea which should help you in one way or another" Ciel tells you. Wait, doesn't he hate herbal tea though? You thought before going to grab your cup.
"Thank you Young Master" you took a hesitant sip of your tea.
"Do you like it?" Ciel asks.
"Yes, it's very good" you answer shyly.
"Have you figured out who your secret admirer is yet?" Ciel asks, seeing the books scattered on the bed.
"No, I think it might be someone who visited once, I hope they tell me soon in the next message. The wait is killing me."
"Not literally, I hope"
"Of course not" you took another sip of your tea.
"That's good, it would be a shame if I lost one of my best staff" Ciel says with a teasing smirk before drinking his tea.
"Come on...I'm not that good...I did hurt my ankle in a stupid way..." you answer.
"Everyone makes mistakes occasionally, even me" Ciel reassures you, putting his hand on top of yours. You blushed red.
"U...um....Young Master...?" You question with a red face.
"(Y/N), there's something I've wanted to tell you for awhile now...I-" the door opened.
"The doctor has arrived to look at (Y/N)'s ankle Young Master" Sebastian bows as the doctor came through, Ciel quickly pulled his hand away from yours.

The doctor prescribed you some medicines to help with the inflammation and bruising. He also said you couldn't get out of bed for a month, the initial sprain wasn't too bad, but since you were stubborn and continued to work it caused extra damage. So for the next month you were on bedrest, which was boring sometimes. Your friends visited you whenever they could, but it took Ciel several days before he could visit you again. You wanted to question Ciel about what he wanted to tell you before Sebastian interrupted, but you had a feeling he would tell you when he was ready. He only came in when it was time for tea or if he needed your input on something, the latter was less often, but his visits were nice, they made you smile and improved your mood on your current situation. However it has been awhile since you've been back to work, and even then the doctor wished that you didn't strain yourself too much so you did much of the low effort menial tasks.
"(Y/N), the Young Master requires your presence in his study" Sebastian tells you as you were cleaning some stuff.
"Really? Ok, I'll finish cleaning this after" you began to jog out.
"Now, now (Y/N), no running. You don't want to injure your ankle again do you?" Sebastian teases, you glared with a small 'hmph' before continuing, walking now. You approached Ciel's study and knocked on the heavy wooden door.
"Yes, come in" Ciel's voice calls faintly from the other side, you opened the door and walked in, shutting the door.
"Ah, hello (Y/N), how is your ankle?" Ciel asks.
"It's a little stiff from time to time but it's a big improvement from a month ago" you answer.
"I see" Ciel put the piece of paper he was reading down and got up, walking over to you.
"No offense Young Master...but is there a reason you called me down, sir?" You ask, taking a step back even though there was a good five feet between the two of you.
"The Queen just sent me a letter, do you know what it was about?" Ciel asks, advancing forward as you continued to go back.
"N...no, I'm afraid I don't have precognition Young Master" you answer shyly.
"Well, along with other things the Queen was wondering if I found a bride to be yet" he answers with a small smirk as you continued to step back. You felt a pang in your heart, he was probably going to choose the daughter of some rich noble that the Queen sent out, you knew he was going to choose that. Even though you have developed feelings for the Young Master over the years, you knew your place in society, a person, let alone a woman with your low standing couldn't possibly have a chance with him. Especially since there were so many daughters of nobles that would love to have his hand in marriage.
"Do you know what I'm going to reply with?" Ciel asks, while you were thinking you didn't notice how you were backed up against a bookcase.
"N...no" you answer, seeing the distance between the two of you closing considerably.
"Well before I tell you have you yet figured out who's been sending you those gifts and notes?" Ciel asks.
"N...no, Young M...master" you mumble, playing with your fingers. He took out a piece of paper and gave it to you, you shakily took it and began reading.
'I love you in the morning
And the afternoon

And under the moon' under the small poem were the words 'your secret admirer' and an arrow that pointed to Ciel.
"Y...you were the one who bought me all those presents and gave me all those notes?"
"Yes, did you like them?" Ciel asks, with a small smirk at your blushing face.
"Y...yes they w...were very n...nice" you stutter, he holds your chin tenderly with his thumb and forefinger.
"I'm glad you think so, and with your permission...I would like to court you...."
"M...me? B...but I am a peasant....w...why me?" You ask, trying to avert your gaze.
"Because....I love you, does there have to be any reason on why not?" Ciel asks, his eye flicked to your lips for a brief moment.
"May I?" Your heart was pounding and you were sure your cheeks were more red than perfectly ripe tomatoes. You just nodded your head lightly as you made an indistinct squeaking noise. Ciel smirked and began to lean in, gently placing his lips on yours. Any heat in your body immediately concentrated yourself into your cheeks. His lips were soft, yet somehow expert. You were too shocked to respond much and when you were finally going to, you heard a loud thump as the door swung open. Ciel quickly pulled away from you as you saw your friends lying on the floor.
"What is the meaning of this!?" Ciel questions with slight anger as he now harbored a blush of his own.
"Well (Y/N) was gone an awfully long time, we were starting to think she got sacked or something...." Finny mumbles.
"So we went to go check on things and...."
"It looks like the Young Master was getting busy, eh?" Baldroy teases with a big grin.
"All of you, out! Now!" Ciel orders and they quickly ran out, but you could still hear Mei-rin's giggles and Baldroy's boisterous laugh. Ciel covered his face with one hand.
"Ugh, what am I going to do with them?" Ciel mumbles.
"Don't get too mad at them, they meant well" you reassure him.
"I know, but they interrupt at the absolute worst moments" he grumbles.
"So shall I court you tomorrow, around tea time?" Ciel asks, hesitantly taking your hand in his and rubbing circles on the back of your hand as you blushed again.
"I'll take that as a yes" he kissed your cheek as you turned five whole shade differences of red.
"You know you look cute when your red like that, perhaps I should tease you more often" Ciel comments with a small smirk.
"I can only blush so much in one day....I have a feeling your going to give me a nosebleed soon...." you mumble.
"Don't tempt me" Ciel chuckles.
Sorry if it isn't too good, this was my first time doing a Ciel oneshot before so I apologize if he's too OOC. Anyway, I've got finals next week, so wish me luck my peeps (I'll definitely need it tho).
