Chapter 2 King of Assholes

1.2K 27 5
By LlamaLoyd

Kassidy ran down the hall the bell had just rung and she was late. She had been in the bathroom on the phone with one of her friends from New York and lost track of time. Of course it was the last class of the day with the King of assholes himself Mr. Jones. So.. this was a good way to test those waters. She got to the door to the classroom and went to open it and it was locked. She kicked at the door and twisted the knob. She heard the lock click and the door opened and she was met by a set of piercing blue eyes belonging to a man who towered over her in height, he had messy dark hair that she wanted to tangle her fingers in. his stubbled jaw was clenched with anger.

"Miss Cole I'm guessing?" He asked. His accent catching her a little off guard for just a moment.

"Um. Yes." She said as she started to step into the classroom. Mr. Jones stood in her way.

"You are late." He said.

"Well.. I'm new and I was looking for the classroom." Kassidy lied. Mr. Jones stepped into the hall and closed the door behind him.

"You get a free pass today. But starting tomorrow, when that bell rings, this door locks. If you aren't here, you don't get in. If you aren't here, you fail. Am I clear?" He asked

"Yes." She said. He looked her up and down.

"You are aware that there is a dress code Miss Cole?"

"So I've been told. By every teacher ahead of you." She said with an eye roll.

"Perhaps you should take a hint?" Mr. Jones asked and folded his arms across his chest. Kassidy rolled her eyes again.

"Can I come to class now? Or..are you just going to keep wasting my time?" She asked and listened as students gasped and whispered amongst themselves. Mr. Jones clenched his jaw.

"Yes, You can come to class Miss Cole, and you can also stay for detention." He said and stepped aside. Kassidy raised her eyebrow giving him a smirk before walking in the classroom and sitting beside Ruby.

"You are insane." Ruby snickered.

"Would you like to join Miss Cole for detention Miss Lucas?"

"No sir." Ruby said but smirked looking down at her Algebra book.

"Told you." Emma whispred.

"That was nothing." Kassidy smirked. Mr. Jones stood up at the front of the class writing on his chalk board Kassidy pulled out her notebook and took notes as he spoke.

Killians POV

I glanced at Kassidy as I spoke half expecting her to be texting, or doing anything else besides hanging onto every word I said. Maybe I judged her to quickly. She looked up at me and gave me a 'What are you looking at?' look. Maybe not. Her attitude was horrible. But I could perhaps tolerate it, if her grades were decent. There was something to this girl that I found myself needing to figure out and I wasn't sure why.

"See something you like Mr. Jones?" Kassidy smirked I could feel my jaw clench. What was it with this girl??

Watch it Cole.. I thought.

"Miss Cole, unless you would like to find yourself back on the other side of that door, I'd suggest you keep your attitude in check. I don't know what they allowed in New York, but I assure you it wont get you far in my classroom." I said with gritted teeth.

"Thats what they all say." Kassidy muttered.

"Excuse me?" I asked arching my eyebrow.

"Nothing. Carry on Mr. Jones. Can't you see I'm taking notes?" She grinned.

This girl..

I walked to her desk and put my hands on it firmly leaning in. The smell of her vanilla coconut perfume was near intoxicating, so much in fact I almost lost my thoughts for a moment. Her cool grey eyes met mine and they sparked with mischief.

Keep it together Jones, Shes a student. I warned myself mentally.

"What are your plans for the rest of the week?" I asked.

"Why? Are you asking me out?" She smirked and I had to instantly put my hand up to silence the rest of the class who had begun whistling and wooing.

"If you count writing sentences every day after school for the next week a date. then yes." I said returning her smirk. the instant gratification of hers being wiped off was enough.

"Mr. Jones.. take it easy I was only kidding." She said. I walked away from her desk grinning to myself. I knew for the moment, I had won. I glanced back at her and the look she gave suggested it was far from over.

Kassidy Pov

I couldn't believe how much of an asshole this guy really was. He couldn't take a joke. He may have thought he won, but I was only beginning. I angrily jotted down the rest of my notes. Occasionally glancing up at Mr. Jones only to catch him looking at me. Ugh. If he did not want his students to flirt with him, he shouldn't have made it so easy, with those damned blue eyes, and the way he smelled like leather mixed with spearmint and a very faint fancy cologne. Or..his stupid dark messy hair..and that accent. Ugh. The guy was just asking for it. I tried to pay attention to what he was saying, and writing on the board as I took notes, but it all may has well been in Latin. Math was my worst subject and Algebra was going to be the death of me, especially if this was the teacher I had to put up with. The final bell of the day rang breaking me from my thoughts.

"Alright then, Tonights homework Solve the problems in chapter four, sections 1-7. Show your work!" Mr. Jones shouted over the students who were jumping out of their seats eager to get home.

I slammed my notebook shut and threw it in my backpack making sure to leave my pencil out for whatever fresh hell, Mr. Jones was about to put me through. Ruby gave me a sympathetic look.

"Good luck." She said. "Text me." She added with a grin as she collected her things and walked out of the classroom with the rest of the students. After about 5 minutes it was completely quiet in the classroom.

"So..am I going to just sit here then?" I asked kicking my boots up on the desk. Mr. Jones walked by and pushed my feet off the desk and slammed a piece of paper down in their place. I looked down at the paper and smirked at the header

"I will not be disrespectful in class?" I said trying to suppress a giggle. "This..is what you want me to write?"

"Until you fill both sides of the paper." Mr. Jones said and sat at his desk. "And if you want to be getting home, sometime tonight, I would start now." He said and looked down at some papers on his desk, aggressively going after them with a red pen. Those poor students. I rolled my eyes in his general direction and began writing this bold faced lie multiple times, only getting about halfway down the page before my cellphone chimed. I put the pencil down and pulled my phone out of my pocket sliding my thumb over the screen before reading the text message.

Dad:

I'm going to be late tonight honey, best order Pizza. Its probably safer than anything I'd cook anyways. Sorry. Love you.

I sighed before typing out a quick reply.

Me:

love you too dad.. see you later.

"Miss Cole, put away the cellphone. you can chat with Miss Lucas later." Mr. Jones snapped at me. I shot him a glare.

"For your information. It wasn't Ruby. It was my Dad." I snapped back, far from in the mood to get into a verbal spar with the king of assholes. I shoved my phone back into my pocket and gripped the pencil so hard it might break in half as I wrote.

"Oh, is he wondering why you are late? I would be more than happy to explain to him just how you got yourself into this situation." Mr. Jones said narrowing his icy eyes. My knuckles turned white around the pencil and I could feel my jaw clenching as I tried desperately to push back my temper.

"Oh. I've managed to silence you." Mr. Jones said with a smirk. The pencil in my left hand snapped just as the side of my right fist slammed into the wooden desk making a loud Thump! Causing Mr. Jones to flinch ever so slightly.

"Can you just back off for Christs sake?!" I yelled at him.
