Kuroo X Reader ( till my last)
"Let's break up" he said with a very strict and firm voice, you eyed your boyfriend which is now your ex-boyfriend as he suggests the process of breaking up, he eyed you with cold steal eyes as he wait for your response. He was Kuroo Tetsuro the captain of well-known Nekoma High school and your boyfriend for almost 3 years. Your eyes waters as you bit your lower lip trying and doing your best not to cry in front of him he hated when you cry and so even in this kind of situation you wanted to look strong so you bit your inner cheek to hold on the last dignity you have.
You know he has been quite distant this last few weeks, he sometimes gives you cold shoulders and sometimes won't walk you home, but you thought you could fix it like somehow fix him and fix this all so called relationship. You were always brave in life and so the thought of letting him go didn't shake you like it should be, Kuroo knows it fully well you will take this with hard heart and move on. You smiled at him and nodded agreeing to his demands, he sigh as he heard your words this was for the best as he thought.
Y/n: " thank you for 3 years of love Tetsuro kun, ohh I mean Kuroo kun" his name rolls from your mouth, he felt new hearing you call his last name but he knows well it was for the best, he drill it into his mind that what he was doing right now was for the best. You slowly walked away from him and from there the long and painful agony of tears and break up follows.

Day's turns to weeks and even years passed and you been well, you tried your best to stand on you own even though you missed him so much you never thought of calling him or reaching him. Of course the first few weeks were hell but then you've learned to cope with reality and even though it pains you so much you took the stand to move forward. You were already graduating this year and you are focusing in those things you can finish for your future.
You wanted to plan ahead for your future; big things at that you wanted to explore the world go around the globe, meet a man you will love, fall in love again and get married. Maybe get a dog or a house near the forest and have some lovely memories, things you once planned with the certain captain but now you are just planning it on your own.
You walked down the halls of your new university are you finish your paper works and assignments, you never heard anything about Kuroo after you graduated and you didn't actually tried to know more about him, somehow it made you feel at ease but some way you also wanted to know what happened to him all those years. You didn't bother to think about him his friends were all busy with their individual life that you didn't even bother talking to them. He was a very good boyfriend but still you recall how he broke up with you with unknown reason all you could think was it was best this way, you wanted to live at ease and so you never bother thinking about it.
As you walked slowly, you unintentionally bumped into someone, turning to look at him your eyes widen as you recognized one of your high school volleyball teammates (Kenma). He looked at you with shocked expression not even thinking that this can happen, I mean after graduation all of you had your own life and the rest is history. He offered you a hand as he helped you stand on your feet; he smiled at you which shocked you more. The one you know from high school is timid and shy and this one if none like that one before.
Kenma: I can't believe I'll see you here, I mean it's been so long how are you" he asked you trying to keep the mood light, his hair is shorter and his eyes remain as sharp as ever
y/N: I've been well and busy with stuff you know university stuff just like that" you smiled at him and started walking in slow pace, he followed you behind wanting to talk more and maybe catch up with you in life
Kenma: we need to talk like catching up to do, please how bout I buy you coffee?" he asked you, you smiled and nodded since you don't have any plans that day and why not catchup with your high school batch and to think about it, it is not really a bad thing. You followed him in the nearest coffee shop which is around the campus, settling your stuff on the table once he took an empty place he then commented you.
Kenma: you look a lot cuter and more beautiful than before y/n I guess life has been really good to you?" he commented making him smiled at you, you nodded in agreement you were always comfortable talking to Kenma he was one of those people you feel secure when you are still in the volleyball team
y/n: well it's been a while how are you? I never saw you here. So It was really a surprise to see you in the university " you smiled at you, he giggled and smiled taking his phone in the process " how about you give me your number so we can keep in touch?" he added, you nodded as you took the phone he offered and quickly putting in your number. Once you are done you gave him back the phone as he nodded before speaking again
Kenma: I just transfer here this year so I am prey new, that explain why you only saw me here today" he smiled warmly before lifting his hand to get the attention of the waiter in the counter, you beam at him understanding his explanation it was always fun to talk like this, one you might actually had missed. The waiter then walked his way to your table as he hurriedly waited for your orders
y/n: I'll go with cake and coffee" you spoke to him, Kenma eyed you a bit before speaking " I'll get some chocolate mouse and a crumble berry icea coffee" his voice was clear and it made you realized how you missed him, he then slowly face you as he spoke again
Kenma: you know I am paying right " he smiled at you, you smiled and declined the offer but you know it will make the conversation longer so you nodded in agreement " YESSS" your smiled was vivid, it has been a while since you were this happy
y/n: so do you have contacts with friends??" as you tried to talk to him, he looked at you before speaking again
Kenma: well not all of them but most of them, they are all busy with life" he added as the waiter soon arrived bringing your orders. He hand over the orders as he placed the drinks swiftly on the table top, he gave you one final smile before walking back to the counter. The coffee was hot and he cake was extra big, he offered you the cake and you accepted it anyway
y/n: I see, that's good to hear" you smiled sipping your drink, the aroma was really sweet that it made you smiled involuntarily, he eyed you as you do so not taking a single chance to meet your eyes
Kenma: everyone will be very happy to see you" he added, as he gently pick up his cup before sipping the sweet content
y/n: you think?" as you bit your lower lip, you wanted to ask about Kuroo but then your pride eat you up inside
Kenma: well yeah like Yaku, Lev, Yamato" as he continued to call out the name of the familiar people in the volleyball, you patiently waited until he called out all the names of your friends, you anticipated him to call out the name of your ex but to your disappointment the name you once loved calling was never called. Confusion you placed your drink down on the table top before speaking to him.
y/n: how's Kuroo?" you asked him which shocked him, his eyes were wide as dinner plate like he was looking at you with disbelief. He settled down his cup on the saucer as he looked at you seriously, the mood suddenly changed as you realized the cold stare he was sending you the uncomfortable swing was really heavy what could have happened?
Kenma: Y/n? You didn't know?" he asked you, you were confused but you wanted to know what he was talking about. It was rare to see Kenma react this way
y/n: didn't know what?" as you tried to calm, he was being oddly serious now and you can feel the atmosphere sudden changed.
Kenma: Kuroo kun died after we graduate " as he looked at you in the eyes, you were dumbfounded but decided to confirm to him.
y/n: don't kid with stuff like that Kenma, what are you talking about? " as you tried to laugh a bit but he looked at you with sad eyes, your giggle tried to drown the very cold words he spoke but then when you noticed his reaction didn't change you stop smiling as you speak again " how? " you asked him as he looked at you
Kenma: Kuroo san is ill even before we graduate, he wanted to keep it a secret but then his parents told me about it. He was under surgery for a very long time, even before we finished our study, and it was basically the reason why he. Umm left you" as he tried to looked at you, the uncomfortable mood was growing heavier your heart thump with pain as you down the words he was talking.
y/n: what do you mean? I am sure his reason is cause he was bored or me or cause he is having another girl" you tried to reason out to him, but he spoke softly
Kenma: you were the last person he has mentioned before he died, I know cause I am there when he left" he added " he broke out with you because he know it will hurt you if you will know about his illness and he don't want to burden you with it" as he continued " He had truly loved you even in his last moments" he added the soft words from his mouth was like an electricity sent to your veins.
y/n: why???" you looked almost crying at him, he moved to your place to hug you and the tears you tried to keep falls naturally like it was meant to be there for so long. " He was selfish he didn't tell, I should have been with him but he didn't tell me" you cried in his arms
Kenma: he wanted you to live your life he don't want you to be tied to his love and that is the reason why" he added recalling his friends final hours

Kuroo: you know Kenma even I know I will die soon" he pause a bit before speaking again " but I don't regret it" he smiled softly closing his eyes as he huff a mouthful of air " but I regret not being with y/n even before so, I wanted to make her happy for the rest of her life but I think that won't happen now, I love her but then this illness came up to nowhere" he smiled sadly looking at the dextrose attach to his hands " I wanted to give her my life and have family with her, a small house and a car or even a dog, maybe have daughter or son??" he teared up " I wanted to be with her forever, this is so unfair" he cried the voice that resounds the room was sad and very heavy, Kenma looked at him with pained eyes, he knows Kuroo well they've been together for the longest time.
But seeing him in this state hurt him and knowing fully well how his best friend felt towards y/n made him even more sad, he pity Kuroo and he pity y/n their love was pure but fate has other plans. He eyes his crying friend and silently whispers wish that it was just all a dream. That night Kuroo gave out his last breathe smiling as he was calling y/n for the last time
