"I'm the boss, I'm the boss, I'm the BOSS!" Scott yelled out as he leapt onto Rhodey's suit, holding on for his life with one arm while carefully adjusting his regulator to deliver the surprise that no one would ever expect. You heard his groan from your position on the far side of the tarmac from him, but before you could comprehend the noise, the shadow that he was suddenly casting over you told you exactly what was happening.
"Okay, tiny dude is big now. He's big now."
"This isn't gonna end well," you muttered, doing your best to focus on both the rapid swings from Hawkeye's bow aimed your way and the explosions growing behind you from the man who could now toss an entire truck at you or rip the wing from an airplane if he were challenged enough.
"(Y/N)," Tony called out to you, "you don't happen to have any tricks on how to stop your freak show boyfriend, do ya?"
"No! I didn't even know he could do that!"
"I've read that communication is the key to success in a relationship," he offered with a dark chuckle, "but I'm probably the last person you should take that advice from. Seriously though, can you threaten to withhold sex or something?"
You cursed under your breath when Steve and Bucky ran past, just behind Barton and around behind Scott before leaving your sight again. Clint was tenacious and aggressive like you hadn't seen from him in any battle before; if he was this driven, there had to be something really important at stake for what they were trying to do. If Scott hadn't have just thrown a freaking bus at Vision, you might have taken the time to ask.
"You wanna get to them, you gotta go through me," came his booming voice from high above as he kicked his foot out at T'Challa, taking a full line of pallets and cargo with it to knock the King to the ground.
"(Y/N), I'm gonna need you to get in there," Tony commanded, this time his voice free of any humor, "use your scary girlfriend voice or give him that look you use when you're pissed."
"Easy for you to say, Stark, you can fly," you grunted into your comm, finally landing a strike that knocked your opponent to the hard ground, giving you time to flee, "some of us mortals have to worry about getting stepped on." You spun and looked up at the massive version of Scott, wondering how you would ever get his attention, much less how you would be able to talk him out of holding this form of himself; it had to be horribly stressful on his body. You scanned the area around you and found a luggage truck only a few feet in front of him. Breaking into a sprint, you climbed atop the structure and waited for him to turn towards you, holding your breath unconsciously until he finally looked down long enough to see you there.
"(Y/N), don't try anything," he warned, reaching for you, but missing when you jumped to the ground. "Don't do anything that you might regret." His giant hand knocked the cart onto its side when he hit it, leaving you to roll to safety just in time before you were trapped beneath it.
"Scott, you need to stop. How long can you hold that before you hurt yourself?"
"I have to until Cap and Bucky are clear," he replied quietly, though his voice still echoed. "I have a job to do, (Y/N)."
"Yeah, well, so do I," you groaned quietly, waiting to hear the now-familiar sounds of webs slinging over head so that you could make your move. When the new guy finally appeared, you took your opportunity. "Hey, crime fighting spider! A little help?" You raised your hand and waited for only a matter of seconds before he grabbed it on the fly past, lifting you with a remarkable ease.
"Where to?"
"Shoulders."
"Are you kidding?" he gasped, connecting a new web to Scott's back, unbeknownst to him. "You're gonna get yourself killed."
"Listen, kid, there's a lot of things going on here that you don't understand. Please, just get me up there."
"It's your death, lady..." Peter muttered, releasing you just as your feet connected to their intended target. "Call me if you live to need a ride back! It's Spiderman, by the way!"
"Scott!" He didn't hear you at first, and you struggled to hang on, finding a small spot in his suit that would allow your grip, though you felt in no way stable as his body tipped and swayed. He was still learning how to move at this size, and you began to feel a little queasy from the instability. "Scott! You have to stop!"
"(Y/N)? Where the hell are you?"
"On your left!"
"Oh, come on," he huffed, turning his head to see you; taking advantage of the position, you leapt onto the collar of his uniform and pulled yourself up onto his helmet, barely holding on to the shield over his eye. "(Y/N), you're insane! Get off!"
"Not until you stop! This whole thing has gone too far and you're going to hurt someone!"
"It's gonna be you if you don't get out of here!" Scott reached up to try to remove you, but you dodged him successfully several times. On your final attempt to take a new position and climb out of his sight, you jumped onto one of the antennae on the side of his head and held on with all you had. You wrapped a leg around it to anchor yourself when you saw both Peter and Rhodey approaching from behind him.
"Hey guys," Pete called out, "you ever see that really old movie, Empire Strikes Back?" He slung a web that attached to the back of Scott's knee and began to swing around his legs, pulling them together and limiting his movement. The giant Scott started to sway even more and his arms came up to try to counterbalance the shift.
"(Y/N), you need to get down!" Scott yelled to you. "This isn't gonna end well!"
"I told you that, asshole!"
When the crash finally came, after Tony and Rhodey knocked him back for the last time, it was harder than you had expected, throwing you from him as he crashed into one of the parked airplanes at his back. The pain was everywhere when you hit, but at least you were far enough away to not be pinned under him and to get clear before he could shrink back to his normal size. You lay quietly for a moment before trying to get up, wincing at the immediate pain in your head from where it bounced against the unforgiving concrete.
"Hey, kid, you alright?" Tony asked as he passed overhead on his way to the equally grounded Spiderman on the other side of the tarmac from where you had landed. "That wasn't your smartest idea to date."
"I'm fine," you groaned, pushing yourself up, "but would it have killed you to grab me on the fly by?" Once on your feet, you regained your equilibrium and made your way to your boyfriend, who looked like he was struggling to get his own senses back together.
"Does anyone have any orange slices?" he whined, his eyes still squeezed tightly shut. He felt the cool shift on his skin when your shadow was cast over him, finally opening his eyes to see you glaring down at him with disapproval and that scary girlfriend pissed off face that Stark had wanted you to use. "Hey, honey...rough day at work?"
"Get up."
"(Y/N)-"
"Do you still think that you're the boss, Scott? I have to arrest you now. Did you think about that at all before you chose the wrong side?"
"No...yes...I suppose...I didn't think that you'd be the one doing it. I was just trying to sound tough."
"Near miss," you huffed, reaching down to turn him onto his stomach and yanking his arms back behind him to secure them. Even though you trusted him not to use it, you ripped his gloves away so that he wouldn't be tempted to even think about shifting size again. "We can talk about this when you get to the Raft. If I remember correctly, prison blue is a good color on you."
"The Raft? Are you serious?" he asked, though his words were slightly muffled with his face still firmly pressed into the ground. "That place is for maniacs."
"It's for criminals," you hissed, leaning down next to his ear, "which is what you are again, you big idiot. Do you realize how hard it's going to be to get you out of this? Oh, and don't even get me started on Maggie and Cassie." You pulled back and stood, grabbing his arms to bring him with you; he grimaced at your force, but did his best to not show you that you were actually a hell of a lot stronger than he had realized. "I'll talk to Tony. Maybe we can get a favor."
"I'll never trust a Stark," he spat, looking at you as if you were the crazy one. "I'd just as soon kiss a Wookie."
"Alright, Princess, I can arrange that," you smiled back, finding it frustratingly impossible to stay mad at the man. He knew that getting you to laugh was your weakness, and he used it every chance he could get. "I'm still going to talk to him, and it's not like you can stop me from that super-max ocean pokey that you'll be stuck in. I can't just let you rot away in there. I'm dumb enough to love you."
"I know."
"Seriously, Lang," you groaned, "what is it with you guys and the Star Wars references?"
"I told you, I'm trying to sound tough! Didn't that come across?" When you started to walk away, pulling him behind you in a huff, he hurried to keep pace with you to catch up and walk at your side. "(Y/N), did I pull that off? Come on, I sounded a little like Han Solo, right...?"
