The Big Bad Wolf

The woods were quiet, unlike any evening. The birds weren't singing like they did every day. In fact, they looked as if they wanted to be out of the woods, to not be seen. The only question was, but why?

Aimee traveled through the woods. Her long, auburn hair was swishing in every which way. The clouds above had told Aimee it was going to snow soon, but she didn't care. She was bound and determined to walk through the woods to tell her friends and herself that no one... or something was out there. Then as if time stood still, the faint howl of a wolf howling echoed through the woods and sent chills down Aimee's spine. She wanted to run, scream, or just get the heck out of there. But something... stopped her, intrigued her even. So instead of doing those things she stayed and walked further into the woods.

Half of Aimee was calm, when the other side was shaken with fear, but the better half of her continued the journey through the woods.

Nothings there, Aimee... Calm down. No one or nothing is out here. She thought to herself, trying to calm her nerves. She finally got to the point where there was a small, flowing creek that stood in her path. She stopped walking and crouched down looking at the small things inside of it. She saw her reflection and smiled to herself. Beauty just wasn't the right word to describe her. Mary Ann, her mom, had it all and it all passed down to her when she was born. Long, brown auburn locks of hair, straight teeth, big beautiful eyes that weren't the same color; Green and light blue, one color from each of her parents. She wasn't skinny, or fat but curves in all the right places. She wore make-up but not much at all. She was a natural beauty at that.

After a few seconds she heard something walking in front of her, towards her. When the walking stopped, her breathing became ragged. She wasn't exactly sure if she wanted to know or see what was standing in front of her. She gulped and slowly rose her head up to be face to face with a giant, black wolf. He was glaring at her with eyes so intense, like he was trying to scare her. I am not scared. She told herself, but somewhere in the back of her mind, something whispered to her. Something that wasn't even her own voice. She let out a shaky breath as she tried to decipher what this beast was. He was too big to be an ordinary wolf she'd seen camping with her parents when they were still together.

Leave...

The foreign voice said in her head. The wolf was starting to bare its canines, but Aimee didn't notice. His big black eyes kept changing back and forth to an electric blue, like he was trying to hold himself back from attacking her. Little did she know, he couldn't and wouldn't attack her. Her scent was magnetizing him and his breathing became deeper as he engulfs her aroma. He was telling her to go before he couldn't hold himself back. Even though something about her screamed I know you from somewhere... but he didn't know. Now that he thought about it, he smelt this scent before, but it wasn't as strong in his human form as it is now.

He snapped out of her gaze and started looking around everywhere. Not too far away he heard a wolf from another territory howling. He had to get her out of here before he could touch her. He didn't know why, but he suddenly felt the need to protect this girl. He bared his canines, and tucked his ears down flat. If he was going to get her to leave, he had to scare her away. Small growls escaped him as he walked towards her, through the creek. Aimee started to back away slowly. Each step he took, she took one back. This continued like this for a while before he started to fasten his pace. Panic rose in Aimee's chest as she spun on her heals and started running as fast as she could go. She didn't look behind her, but she could tell he was one step behind her. He ran with her until she was almost out of the woods and back to the safety of the outside world. He hid in the shadows and watched the girl jump in her vehicle and drive off.

Good. He thought, stay away from here...
