SO.. i think i like putting announcements first:) Anyways. If you find yourself confused with this chapter, it's probably because i left off the ending to chapter twenty-seven on accident. If you were one of the first people to read, there is an ending on chapter twenty-seven and it's VERY imprortant that you read it so you won't be confused. This is absolutely the LAST chapter of The Big Bad Wolf, besides the epilogue. Then i will be writing The Seeker. Which is the name of the second book continuing on with what i left off.. kind of.. :). I'll be starting on that almost immediately since i already have the epilogue done. Enough of my chattiness.. ON TO THE STORY... ENJOY:))
I was in a state of being awake, but not completely. My eyes were shut tightly closed, but my ears could hear everything around me. A soft pitter-patter in the kitchen, and then clanking of silverware and porcelain plates. The smell of something delicious hit my nose and my stomach wanted to growl in pain and hunger, but I forced it to keep quiet. I didn’t know where I was therefore I was silent. I needed to know if they were going to hurt me or not.
Something strange began to happen. Even with my eyes closed, I could sense everything that was around me. I wanted to panic, but someone was beside me; watching me while I slumbered, or pretended to, rather. I decided now would be a good time to wake up. I didn’t want them to kill me while I slept; it’s not how I pictured to die.
My eyes fluttered open and instantly a throbbing pain etched its way into my skull as well as a headache. I was lying on a couch, staring up at the ceiling. I tried to see who was sitting by me, but my neck was as stiff as a board. It couldn’t move without hurting. A shuffle sounded by me, and a smooth male’s voice met my ears.
“Hey, she’s awake! She’s not dead!” He called out. When I heard shuffles of feet, I began to panic. I tried to wiggle away, but the man held me down. I started to whimper, I wanted to be able to move to where if I needed to escape, I could.
“Whoa, take it easy there,” A deep voice echoed around the house. I stopped my struggling and possibly my breathing. “There isn’t anything to worry about. Dylan, help her sit up, carefully.” I closed my eyes as the headache in my head worsened. Two large arms wrapped around my waist and gently heaved me up. I gently placed my frail little hands on his arms making it a little easier for him, though, he was very strong. It was as if I was a tiny little baby being handled with the gentlest of touches, like I could break with any jerk or slightly fast movement. When I was finally seated upright, I let out a shaky breath of relief. My whole body ached with pain and was slightly throbbing. I opened my eyes once more, and I was greeted by friendly faces:
A woman in her late twenties, brown hair in a messy bun, and a small smile planted on her face, a man also in his late twenties with a light brown hair, a pair of spectacles, and also a smile on his face, like the woman. The other two were fairly younger, eighteen maybe give or take. They were twins, boy and a girl. Both brilliantly green-eyed and same hair color, a blondish tint; a few freckles coated their noses. The boy was fairly cute, with hair that curled slightly over his eyes and ears. The last one, his sister, had beautiful gold locks of hair cascading down her back, with square, black glasses that framed her emerald eyes making them pop out.
The older man smiled at me, “I know you must be thinking, ‘Who are these weird people staring at me?’. Well, I am Derek Striker.” He pointed the older woman, “That’s my wife Julia.” Then he pointed to the younger two, “and those are our kids, Dylan,” The boy who I’m assuming was Dylan smiled, “and Dalia, my daughter.” The girl smiled at me and I forced myself to put a small smile on my face.
