~Jazmine~

I sigh and lean back in the chair blowing through my nose. Hair falls out of my bun and lands in my face. Then all of my hair comes out, as well as the hair tie and two hands rest on my shoulders. I roll my eyes and shake my hair out.

"What was that for?" The russet colored boy asks. I scoff and glance back at the desk.

"You took my hair down, so I shook it out." I shrug before grabbing the pen again and tapping it on the wooden desk in front of me. He moves beside me and picks me up. I rest my head against his shoulder and he lightly chuckles carrying me to the bed. He tosses me down and sits beside me.

"Stop worrying about. It's just some dumb test that they're making you take." Jake says like it's nothing. I roll my eyes and crawl toward him, placing my head on his lap.

"I wish it was that easy." I state. He slides his hand under my shirt slowly.

"I'll prove to you that it is." He smirks cockily and tickles my side slightly. He doesn't realize that I won't feel anything until I drop my guard, which will probably be close to never.

"Then prove it." I challenge him. He moves his hand and carries me back to the desk. I sit on his lap as he looks over the paper.

"Why do you arrows?" He asks.

"Because they have to take it out before it heals." I shrug. He sits the paper down and places the pen on top of it.

"Write it." He says. I write it on the line and set then pen down. "Who are trained to lead?"

"The daughters." I say before writing it down.

"What poison works best on Vampires?"

"Vervien, obviously."

"What is the code?" I smirk to myself and write it.

"We protect those, who cannot protect themselves." I state.

"When can leadership change?"

"When the current leader dies or steps down. If they step down they choose who gets leadership, if they die it goes to next in line, usually the daughter of the said one."

"Who just proved you wrong and is the best boyfriend ever?" Jake smirks.

"You are." I roll my eyes. "Besides, you know that I don't do well under pressure." I state laying my head against his shoulder. I slowly close my eyes and sigh.

"What's making you so stressed?" He asks carrying me back to the bed.

"Everything." I mutter rolling over burying my face into the pillow. He rubs my back soothingly.

"It's not everything, there's one thing worse than the rest. What is it?"

"My father's father, Gerard, one of the most serious hunters ever is coming. I still need an excuse to ditch the funeral so I don't have to meet him directly." I murmur into the pillow. I turn my head toward him, my brown hair falling over my face. Jake takes his shirt off and lays beside me. I move over and lay my head on his chest. His warmth radiates through my body, my eyes open and glow emerald green.

"God, I love you." Jake states gazing into my eyes.

"I love you too." I whisper closing my eyes and nuzzling closer.

A bright white glow shines into my eyes, a loud ring through my ears. My throat burns, body sore, no sense of knowing, or feeling. I didn't land it. I had landed it almost a thousand times before, so why now. Why not land when I needed to the most. This had to have been set up. Somebody wants me out of the run, somebody wants me unable to ever be a gymnast again. I will find out who, if I make it at least. Otherwise, goodbye everything. I slightly glance down- blood. I blink and everything moves. I see faces above me, Mom, Dad, Jake, Coach, a few faces I don't know, but they're all talking. I watch their lips move but I can't hear anything other than a faint buzzing. I slowly glance back to my side, my once gold leotard, now covered in blood. My eyelids become heavy and threaten to close.

"Keep your eyes open!" It sounds so distant. A numbness spreads through my injured body and it gets harder to keep my eyes open.

"Come on Jaz! Keep your eyes open!" Jake... "Jazmine come on!"

I came so close to landing, but somebody messed it all up. I was so close. So, so, close. My eyes start drooping more. I get a sharp pain in both of my sides, the numbness that was once there, gone. The pain helps keep my eyes open, but blood is everywhere. My vision dots then comes back into focus. A paramedic at my side holding something against my sides, another taking my vitals and hooking machines into me, then Mom almost in tears, but more content at me.

"She's stable, but still losing blood. She has approximately thirty minutes if we don't do a transfusion soon." One of the paramedics say. Thirty minutes!?! Thirty!?!

"Hey, calm down, you'll be fine. Okay, we're getting ready to pull in to the hospital now." Another says. They wheel me into the ER, mom running beside them, my head slowly lulling around.

"Extreme blood loss, she'll be gone in thirty minutes without a transfusion."

"I need two quarts of AB+ stat!"

Two quarts!?! My eyes flutter before giving in and falling closed.

I run a hand through my tangled hair and gaze at my closet. I remember that day like it was yesterday, it was the Final round in the National Championship, I would've gone to World if it didn't happen. I still have all of my leotards, metals, trophies, and accessories, even the leotard from Nationals. I'm not willing to try to pull of a stunt, even though it was three years ago. That night ended my career. I was going to go on to the big leagues, I was going to be amazing. Jumping from the awning is nothing, trying to pull off anything more than a Third Ariel, no. I wouldn't even try a Third.

"Do you wanna try to get back out there?" Aunt Mo asks sitting beside me on the bed. I look at my feet and shake my head slightly.

"I don't know, part of me does, but I can't focus on being a gymnast if I'm trying to protect everyone." I reply.

"You can't protect everyone, at least let me help you get back up to your old rank."

"Fine, but baby steps."

"Then get ready, you have five minutes." Mo pats my leg before going toward the door. "Use the purple leotard with one sleeve and throw a track suit over it, the one from Regionals."

I jump back and push off with my hands and stick the landing. I run a hand against the bottom of my shoe and tighten my ponytail. I step back a little before Aunt Mo nods and I take off. I jump up and flip, spinning in a circle then landing into a split. She claps and smiles.

"Try the beam." She says. I slide out of my socks and shoes and walk toward the beam, a mat under it. She gives a reassuring nod and I climb up on it. I stand and pull a third, landing it then jumping up into a pike, sticking the landing. I throw a backward Third then run forward and flip, landing with my hands on the beam. I push myself up higher and move my legs over my head. I bring them back down and hold a split. I slowly get back to my feet and flip off of the beam, sticking the landing. I hear a wolf whistle and roll my eyes turning around.

"Having fun?" Jake asks walking toward me. I shrug.

"Trying to rebuild my rank, so ish." I state tightening my ponytail again.

"Try the bars." Jake whispers. I shake my head.

"Not yet, maybe I'll do that the second Thursday this week."

"Come on, at least try." He pleads. I roll my eyes.

"Fine, but you owe me big time." I prod a finger in his direction before rubbing my hands in power. I glance at the bars before stepping back and running. I jump up and grab the first one, swinging back. I swing around it twice before getting on it. I jump up to the next and swing around it, switching the way I swing. I jump up and flip off. I land and lean my upper half forward to balance. I straighten my form and grin. I throw my arms up and head back in victory.

"That's my girl Jazzy!!!" Uncle Jared states clapping his hands walking into sight with a grin plastered on his. I stop and look around.

"This was a set up. All of you can come out now!" I yell crossing my arms.

"It was worth it." Jake smirks wrapping an arm around my torso,
