Percy's POV
"Annabeth?"
She whipped around and her eyes widened when she saw me.
"Percy!"
I hugged her tight. "I wanted to see you."
"But Victor-"
I kissed her, effectively shutting her up.
"You guys can stop sucking each other's faces out." Leo said. He smirked. "Look at this."
He typed in a few things in Annabeth's laptop and a few blueprints popped out.
"We thought about making a fountain. It won't take that much money if the Athena cabin and Hephastus cabin does most of it." Leo explained. He showed me a 3D version of the fountain.
"Cool." I tilted my head to the side. "Who's going to be spitting water at the top?"
"You."
I laughed nervously. "It's a joke, right?"
She nudged me. "Of course. Nobody's going to be spitting water at the top."
I nodded slowly as Leo shut the blueprints down. Annabeth linked her arm into mine.
"Why did you come?"
I shrugged and pecked her on the cheek. She rolled her eyes as Leo stood up, rolling the chair back.
"I'll try making the mechanisms before the real thing comes."
"Thanks. See you later."
Leo nodded and went out of the cabin.
"Annabeth." A small boy with honey blonde hair tugged her hand. "What does this mean?" he showed her a page filled of words that made my head spin. He pointed at a spot and Annabeth explained it, and I zoned out for a while. It looked harder than the papers back at the Chaos army.
"Percy."
I blinked a few times and saw the boy running off to tell his friends. Annabeth stared at me, amused.
"You still have that habit of zoning out."
I smiled. "You love me because of that."
She nudged me. "You really think so?"
I nodded enthusiastically.
She rolled her eyes. "Come on. I have to go to Reyna."
"Why?"
She furrowed her eyebrows. "We want the army in Camp Jupiter to unite with our camp- maybe an alliance, but the Senate doesn't really like it."
I nodded. "I'll go with you."
"No! We have to go to Camp Jupiter!"
"I'm alright Annabeth."
She sighed. "Ask Victor." she said. "If he says no, it's a no. Alright?"
"Alright!"
~
"No."
"Victor!"
"No."
"Please?"
"No. What if you-" he sighed. "It's too far."
".... I'll IM you."
"No."
"Victor, I really need to listen to this. I can't do this after I'm dead."
He looked a little taken aback. "... Percy."
"Please?"
He exhaled. "Alright. Stay with Annabeth." he paused. "How long will it take?"
"About 4 days."
He bit his lip. "How are you going to go?"
"By pegasus for a while and then by car."
He nodded slowly. "Alright. Maybe."
"Really?"
"When are you going?"
"After lunch."
"Are you going to eat?"
I shook my head.
"Rest. I'll pack for you."
"I can go?"
"Yes."
"Thanks!!!"
"Take a nap or something. Just stay still for a while."
I nodded and watched him pull out a duffle bag. He glanced at me.
"I'll go to your cabin to get your clothes."
He left the room and I flopped on the bed. I grabbed the tube and connected it to my arm. I closed my eyes. I pressed to fingers to my neck and winced. The pain had gotten worse. It was hard, hiding the pain. My fingers tingled, and I wondered how I could hide my pain for the days in the future.
A week.
A week before Chraron would take me over the river. I swallowed hard.
A week.
I closed my eyes. I didn't want to hurt anybody. But how could I not?
It was the way of life.
~
"Percy."
I grabbed her hand and she smiled up at me. I helped her up the pegasus and I climbed upon Adonis.
Hey boss.
"Hi." I placed the duffle bag in front of me.
Haven't seen you in a while.
"Been busy."
He took off after Annabeth's pegasus. I leaned on my duffle bag. I was feeling drowsy after the IV shot. Adonis tilted to the side to keep me from slipping off.
"Thanks."
No prob.
I blinked a few times, trying to wake up. I sighed. I didn't feel that good right now. I felt a little uneasy. I held onto my duffle bag tightly. I shut my eyes tight. The throbbing pain in my wrists came back and I still couldn't sleep.
"Can you fly a little smoother?"
Yeah
He dropped into something that felt like I was barely moving. I opened the first pocket and injected the painkiller again. I quickly closed the bag.
"You should catch up."
I leaned on the duffle bag in front of me as drowziness took over my mind.
"Wake me up later."
~
"Percy."
I woke up as Annabeth shook me. She looked a bit worried.
"Are you alright?"
I nodded, yawning.
She let out a nervous laugh. "You scared me for a second.
I climbed off of Adonis. "Did I?" I slung ny duffle bag on my shoulder. "Let's go now."
She nodded and the pegasi flew away. I grabbed her hand and kissed her cheek.
"It's nice being here. Only the both of us."
She bit in a smile. "We need to talk with the senate. Should I drive?"
I thought for a few moments. "I'll take the wheel tommorow."
She nodded. We got into our rented car and I did my seatbelt.
"Annabeth."
"Yeah?"
"What are you going to say?"
"... I don't know."
I sighed. "I can't believe you don't know something."
She smiled. "Well, what do you think?"
"... Maybe we should threaten them."
"No!"
I pursed my lips. "Lets think then. My head hurts when I think ahead."
"Seaweed Brain." she teased.
I leaned back. "How do you feel?"
She tensed. "About what?"
I glanced at her. Her knuckles were white on the wheel.
"... Nothing."
I could see what she felt like.
I knew the answer.
