Kate's POV

Two days have passed since the awkward encounter with Olivia and Nate.
The thought seems to have slipped Daniel's mind as he shows little interest, if that, at all.
I woke up awhile ago and am ready to go on an adventure. How do I plan on doing this? By shopping at the mall of course.
I drive over, and in about fifteen minutes, am in the parking lot, walking toward the big shopping arena.
I pull out my phone. No calls, no texts. Same as usual. I bump into someone and apologize instantly.
"It's okay," they reply.
I look up from my phone the second I recognize their voice. "Oh. Hello."
"Hi," Olivia says, sending me a smile. "Listen. I know Daniel and I aren't taking anymore, but that doesn't mean we have to stop as well."
"I don't know if that's a good idea," I trail.
She plays with her hair. "But Kate, remember our promise?"
I sigh and give her a weak smile. "I'm sorry, Liv, but some promise are made to be broken."
I walk away from her, not even bothering to look back. I had just lost my best friend. Again.
Only this time, I'm not upset.

"Where have you been?" Nick asks as I walk into their kitchen.
By now, coming over to their place was a part of my regular routine. I mean, if you give someone a key, which probably wasn't the smartest idea, you should expect them to visit a lot.
Truth be told, I spend more time at their house rather than my own.
"The mall," I reply.
Him and Daniel exchange looks and groan. "Ugh. I hate that place."
"Wonder why," I smirk. "Is it because of your blind date?"
Nick rolls his eyes. "Exactly. And the worst part, it's tonight!"
A smile spreads across my face. "Interesting."
"I don't like that look," Nick says, backing away.
"Neither do I," Daniel agrees.
"Please," I huff. "I just want to help you get ready."
Nick gives me an appalled look. "With what? I'm fine going out like this."
I take in his appearance and frown. Ripped jeans, stained shirt, old shoes, uncombed hair: this boy needs a lot of help if he wants this date to go well.
"Come with me." I drag Nick upstairs, him glancing back at Daniel, who laughs, for help.
We walk into his room, and I'm surprised with how clean it is, considering his interesting outfit choices.
I rummage through Nick's closest in order to find the nicest outfit for tonight.
"Ew," I say, tossing aside a black and white striped shirt.
"Gross."
"What is this?" I fling an ugly Christmas sweater at him.
Nick picks it up and stares at it. "My grandma gave me this. It was the last thing she made me before she died."
My eyes widen as I instantly regret what I had said moments before. I sit next to him on his bed. "I'm sorry. I didn't know."
He starts laughing, and I give him a confused look. "I got this sweater for ten bucks at Walmart, and as for my grandma, she's still going to the club at 97."
I shove a pillow in his face and walk away, laughing.
Boys. Are. Stupid.

Nick had left awhile ago for his blind date, leaving me to spend time with Daniel.
"Movie marathon?" I ask him.
"Movie marathon."
As he searches for movies on Netflix, I walk into the kitchen & make hot chocolate and popcorn.
"Is Insidious Chapter 3 okay?" he yells from the living room.
"You've got to be kidding me. I hate scary movies."
"Perfect."
I roll my eyes and wait for the timer on the microwave to run out. "Can I have extra butter on mine?" Daniel asks.
"Sure," I reply with a smirk. I grab three bowls. In one, I squirt tabasco sauce and in the others, I apply extra butter.
"Thanks," Daniel says as he grabs his drink and popcorn from me. He takes a big handful of it and throws it into his mouth. "Ah! This- this is hot. W-where's the milk?"
I sit down on the couch, a smile plastered to my face, and watch him. "I have no idea," I reply with a shrug. "It's not my house."
Daniel runs into the kitchen, pours himself a glass, and drinks it within two sips. "You," he gasps. "Are so dead."
My eyes widen as he starts chasing me around the house. "Stop," I laugh.
Daniel catches up to me, and all of a sudden, I'm trapped in a corner. "Got you," he smirks.
He leans in and kisses me, his hands on my waist, my arms around his neck. We pull apart, and I smile at him.
"Maybe," I breath. "I should prank you more often."
Daniel laughs. "Fine. But never do that one again."
I go into the kitchen, coming out with my drink and two bowls of popcorn, handing one to him. He inspects it and then takes a bite. "Just making sure," he jokes.

We were watching Insidious. The girl creeps up to the door, wondering what could be inside. Just as she's about to turn the handle-
"I'm home!" a voice yells. Daniel throws his bowl of popcorn into the air as I start screaming.
"Sorry," I say, taking popcorn out of his hair.
"How was your date?" Daniel asks Nick and takes a sip of his hot chocolate.
Nick gives a smug smile and jumps on the couch next to us. "It was great. She's one of the nicest girls I've ever met."
"I can't wait to meet her," I tell him. "I could really use some more girl friends around here."
Seriously though.
Daniel and Nick gasp, pretending to be offended, and I roll my eyes at them.
The boys are great, however sometimes I wish there was a friend I could do other things with.
But I threw that chance away the moment I found out Olivia was cheating on Daniel, and to me, a guy like him is worth it.
So, as the two of them discuss the plans for tomorrow, I sit there quietly, thinking of how in a couple days, I'll have a new friend.
