I breathed in relief as I walked towards her bed and discarded myself there. I was mentally and emotionally drained.
Sometimes things happen in life that make you question your choices.
Here I was hiding from the father of my child, a man who only cares about the child I was carrying in my womb but with what he just did, I was beginning to question if he would be the father I've been hoping he would be.
He was like a whole new person back there.
My stomach growled in hunger, the way I was getting hungry was too much, it was like my mouth always wanted something to chew, I would become a big ball even before five months.
I woke up when the smell of something yummy hit my nose, wait, when did I even fall asleep?
I peeled my eyes open and was greeted by a smiling Rena and of course, the reason why I woke up.
She was holding a plate containing pizza, and my mouth couldn't help but water. I couldn't believe that she was actually doing all this for me. It was just so touching, she was ready to have me stay in her room without questions and now here she was feeding me.
" I made this pizza myself, I hope you'll like it." She said as she passed the plate to me.
" Are you kidding me? You're one of those people who cook the best, I would definitely hire you if I had a restaurant." That was something I was considering, though not a restaurant. When I can open my bakery, I plan to make Rena one of my staff. I don't think anyone has been so loyal to me like her, not even my own family.
" Oh flattery."She said trying to hide her smile but I had already seen it.
" No joke, you're good and that's the truth."
" Yeah yeah, whatever you say."
When it was time to sleep, Rena refused to lay on a queen-size bed insisting that I lay on it instead. I didn't even have a big bump yet, my bump was barely noticeable.
I had to persuade her and insist that she lay with me or I was going to feel guilty. She finally agreed and I couldn't be more happy. I didn't want her to feel uncomfortable after all the trouble I put her through.
When I woke up Rena was not in the room, she must have woken up early to go to work, when I checked the time I saw that it was almost ten in the morning. I slept in for a long time.
I stretched my body and pulled the bed sheets off me. I grudgingly walked to the bathroom and washed my face as I stared at my tired expression, when was all this going to end? Nothing was ever easy from the moment I decided to sign that contract but I didn't expect it to be like this.
I used the extra toothbrush to brush my teeth then I returned back to the bedroom, that was when I noticed the plate by the bedside table. There was a note by the side. It was from Rena and it read.
" You were sleeping and I just couldn't bring myself to wake you, I made pancakes and your favorite morning orange juice. Please take a lot of rest." She ended the note by signing it with her name and I couldn't help but smile at such a sweet soul.
I had the pancakes and went back into the bathroom to have a bath and I realized that I hadn't come out with any of my clothes, so I just looked through Rena's clothes, I hoped she wouldn't mind. I couldn't go around naked.
I wasn't with my phone because it would just give Markus my location so I just left it in my room, it was boring staying in here, especially for a pregnant woman like me, I remember having a meeting with the doctor today but I'll just have to skip the appointment, I hope I wasn't putting my baby in danger.
I returned to the bed when I had nothing to do, it was like I was making myself a prisoner. Life was funny.
I fell asleep somehow and when I woke up it was some minutes past two o'clock, if I stayed in this room for two days without doing anything, I was going to be so fat.
I was interrupted from my thoughts when the door was open and Rena came in holding a bag, I guess containing my lunch.
" You know, you spoil me so much," I said to her as I smiled at her, well the best I could manage with my bruised lips.
" Well, it's because you deserve to be treated special. How is the wound? Does it still hurt as much as yesterday?" She asked as I was still having a little problem talking.
" Just a little, but nothing I can't manage," I replied as I watched her bring some of those things I usually ask for, the first one I noticed was the peanut butter.
" I brought you all these so you wouldn't get bored."
" Are you serious, are you trying to make me fat and ugly so I wouldn't be as pretty as you?" I teased her and she just laughed it off.
" I would be going back to work, I don't want them to notice my absence, please I'm sorry I can't keep you company because I don't want to get caught."
" Don't say that, you've done more than enough for me, I should be the one apologizing, I might get you in trouble but yet I insisted on staying in your room, am sorry."
" Okay. Okay, let's stop this because we're going to keep saying sorry till the end of time." She chuckled.
" Fine."
She eventually returned to her duty while I was kept company by peanut butter, don't judge me, I'm pregnant remember?
Not even up to an hour, the door burst open with a panicked-looking Rena staring at me.
" He is turning down the whole house looking for you."
