Next morning Dr Cho checked Steve's wound after wrapping it again. The nurse was with her walked out. Dr Cho sighed shaking her head," I'm telling you again, you should stay here for few days more. "
Steve shook his head with a smile," I'm almost fine now. "
She huffed playfully," Almost?! It's not even twenty four hours since you're here. I recommend you to stay here admitted for a week but...you're insisting. " She was about to leave but stopped. " By the way, did you know Ms Natasha has started talking? A little bit?"
Steve nodded," Yeah. I heard that too. "
" Mr Shostakov said that's all possible because of you. You took her out, tried to make her comfortable around people. Even took her to your house. That definitely helped her. So...safe to say, you did an amazing job. " She smiled at him.
" In reality, it wasn't some external problem. The fact was, she just didn't want to talk, not that she couldn't. So, I'd say, it's all her own efforts. I was just doing my duty. " Steve replied, avoiding the doctor's eye.
She raised her eyebrow at him, as he seemed kinda uncomfortable. She turned to leave with a smile," Yeah. Okay. " Just then Bucky arrived there. " Have a good recovery, Mr Rogers. " And she walked out. Bucky helped him and they left the hospital.
Steve took few days off from his work to fully recover. Then he got a call from Yelena. " Hello?"
" Uh...how are you?"
Steve sighed. In between these few days, she would call him everyday to ask about his health. She's genuinely feeling guilty for putting him in trouble even if he says nothing is her fault. To him, she's more like Wanda. Always keeps him annoying but when he falls sick, she won't leave his side. And he felt Yelena is treating him exactly like that.
" I'm perfectly fine, Ms Yelena. I even worked out today. What else do you need as my health report?"
She laughed a little. " Can you come over today's evening, to red mansion? I wanted to take you somewhere. As my sorry and a big thank you. "
He became curious," To where?"
" You'll know. Just get here. " Then she hung up.
In the hall of the red mansion, Melina asked her secretary, Sophie," Call Mr Rogers to be in association tower. I've something to discuss. "
The secretary nodded and before she could do anything, Yelena walked up to them. " Don't take him. " Melina looked at her, a little surprised. Because, she never talk with her normally. " I mean, don't take him with you. I'll go somewhere and I've already informed him to join me. "
Melina looked at her sternly," Was it not enough to put him in bed for weeks?!"
She didn't back away either," I know and I understand my responsibility. But he's not your personal assistant that you'd carry him around all day. I've a meeting and he's coming with me. " She stated her points clearly.
Before both of them can carry it forward, Alexi approached them with a laugh," Just a few months back you two were refusing to have a bodyguard, but see? You two are fighting over one. I'll ask Nick to hire another one then. "
" No"
" No"
Both of them said at the same time that made him laugh more.
" Okay. He can go with you. " Melina mumbled quietly and walked out with her secretary. Yelena raised her eyebrow at her father proudly, and he chuckled shaking his head.
While Natasha was seeing this scenario silently from upstairs peeking from behind the door. She didn't know why she's feeling sick in her stomach when she saw her mother and sister are fighting for Steve. As if they're claiming something hers, something belongs to her. And they're dragging him away from her, but she's standing there helplessly.
Steve arrived on time while Yelena was already waiting for him at the parking. Steve got into the car which she's driving today. Steve put his seatbelt on and glanced at her," So...where are we going?" She just rolled her eyes without saying anything and he sighed shaking his head.
She stopped the car somewhere. Steve looked out to find it's a bar. Steve looked at her again," I'm not a fan of drinks, if you don't know. "
They stepped out. " You know, there is an old say, don't judge a book by it's cover. We don't only drink in a bar. There is a lot of things to do. "
Steve rolled his eyes and followed her inside. They walked upstairs to the terrace of the bar, probably she had booked a table there. They sat there, surprisingly, as a bar, that place was rather less crowded. Pub music could be heard from downstairs. Steve eyed around him then looked at Yelena next to him," You haven't invited me here for a date right?" And smirked at her.
She shook her head with a laugh," Would you have said yes?" Steve laughed with her. They talked sitting there comfortably, about her work, about her family and friends.
After some time a group of young boys and girls arrived there with a drinks in their hands. One of them recognised Yelena. She looked at her other friends," Guys! Look who's here! Super model Yelena Shostakov!"
Yelena rolled her eyes in annoyance as the group approached their table. " Hey Bella. Long time no see. " She faked a smile.
That girl, Bella eyed Steve carefully. " Oh! Who's this hot-stuff with you here?"
A boy one of them walked ahead and looked at Steve," He's her bodyguard. "
Another girl from that group laughed mockingly. " Come on! He couldn't be just her bodyguard. He must be her body-guard. " She said twisting her words. " He must have the access to her bedroom obviously. "
Yelena shared a look with Steve then she was about to reply but another one interrupted her. " So that rumour was true. You must have disappointed your mom, that's why she thought it's better to leave before you. " And some of them laughed on it.
Yelena stood up in rage, but Steve grabbed both of her shoulder to calm her down before she could explode. He threw a hard glare at that group of girls," Let me clear you something. I don't hesitate to hit even women when they crosses the line. "
Bella smirked at him," Ooo. You wanna hit us? Okay, ho ahead. Hit us as hard as you can, big guy. " And smiled at him fliteriously.
Yelena scoffed mockingly with a laugh. " Here." And smacked hard on her face.
Bella jumped at her angrily," You bit*h!!"
Steve covered Yelena and pulled her away from that group towards downstairs. While she was struggling to free her hand angrily growling at that group. " You wanted a hit right?! Did you like it?! Huh?! " Steve dragged her out of the bar in much difficulty.
Steve drove both of them away. He stopped the car at the roadside. After a moment of silence, Yelena sighed," Sometimes I wonder if it's true. If my mom really had seen me as a disappointment. I want it's answer but can't find it. "
Steve shook his head slowly," Parents could never see their children as problems. Especially mothers. I kinda aware of it because my mom had always said to it me. They endure every hardship for us, not for some trouble they wants to get rid of. "
Her eyes welled up in tears. " My mom....she... really had committed suiside, you know. I was seventeen, not a dumb. And I don't know a single reason. Even dad doesn't tell me anything. It feels like she just vanished into darkness. And I think it's because of me, because, they used to fight a lot, and generally, it's reason would be me. "
Steve shook his head," Whatever it was, you could never be the reason of your mom's drastic step. So, feeling guilty over what you can't control is just a dead end."
She wiped her face with a napkin and nodded. " Thanks. I needed it. To be honest, I've never talked about it with anyone though. " Then she turned towards him," So, you're nice, you're well mannered, honest, sometimes rude, even little good looking of course. So there is so many things to like about you. So it's pretty simple that I like you. Then, what do you think of me?"
Steve laughed hard for a moment, clutching his chest. Then he calmed down," Thanks for listing my characters. I didn't expect that. Then, what I think of you? Well, I think, you're still a teenage girl who misses her mom. "
Her face hardened in anger as she looked away. " Go to hell! "
Steve smiled again," See? That's what kids do. They throws their feet when they can't handle the truth. So what's wrong with being a kid? It's fun. Keeping alive the childness inside you is important. Unless the world would feel so heavy for you. "
She still kept the angry look on her face. Steve chuckled," You know, I've a sister who's exactly like you. She's short tempered, but soft hearted, annoys me so much, but cares about me. But one thing is different, she's not arrogant. "
She looked at him sharply," Are you a boomer or what?! I just literally confessed that I've a crush on you, but you seriously compared me with you sister?! Do you see me as one?! " Steve nodded with a smile. " You're the worst guy I've ever met!"
Steve laughed again," What?! You just counted so many good characters of mine, now I'm the worst guy? "
She looked away with an angry expression. " We can be friends. ' My elder brother ' , oh my God! How cringe is that! "
Steve shook his head with a laugh then they drove off towards her house. He dropped her off and left the car there and climbed on his motorcycle and rode towards his apartment. On the way he stopped somewhere. In front of a piano lesson centre. " Hey, Cap!" He turned around to find Peter. He ran up to him.
" Hey, Queens. Since when you started piano classes?"
Peter scratched his head with a smile," Just a month back. Fury is giving me little extra money as my so called salary. So I thought it's a good way to spend it. "
He nodded with a smile," I guess, MJ likes piano. " Peter looked at him with wide eyes. Steve chuckled shaking his head," Don't worry. She'll be impressed. "
" Ah!" Peter remembered something suddenly and opened his bag from his shoulder. Then he pulled out a file. " I couldn't find much, Cap. Just got some land-line numbers through some of my friends from Manhattan. I hacked a few digital gadgets around that area but not so good luck. "
Steve took the file then smiled at him," This will help sure. Thanks. "
Peter straightened his shoulder proudly. " If you need to override any system again, you know my number. " Steve laughed on it. " By the way, who's it? You're searching?"
Steve rolled his eyes," If I'll tell you, Fury will be after me tomorrow morning. You've a big mouth, kid. "
Peter frowned like a child," Of course not. I don't say everything to Fury. I've been working in SHIELD from last one year after all. Come on, who's it? I'm curious. "
Steve shighed shaking his head. " Have you heard of Brok Ramlow?"
He narrowed his eyes to remember. " Yeah! SHIELD is after him right?" Steve nodded. " Captain, you should've told me his name at first. It would've easier to find more clues about him. I'm your biggest fan first then I'm the unprofessional hacker of SHIELD. You can trust me. "
He rolled his eyes," Yeah yeah. Enough of your drama. Now go home. It's getting late. " And pushed his shoulder.
Peter frowned again," It's not even my dinner time. I'm not really a kid okay?"
Steve climbed on his bike again with a laugh," Be quick. You'll miss your bedtime. " And sprinted ahead.
But he could hear Peter's yelling," I'M NOT A KID!!" .
Steve just laughed on it. He's hoping to get his hands on Ramlow very soon.
