Lexi: "do we have any snacks?"
Jen: "we should have some in the back seat
Lexi reaches back and pulls out a bag of hot Cheetos from a plastic grocery bag
Lexi: "yes!"
Jen: "I knew you were going to want some so I bought a few"
Lexi: "you're the best"
Jen smiles at the woman beside her
Jen: "anyways, back to what I was saying before, my theory"
Lexi: "really, not this again"
Jen: "Steve Rogers did not have a girlfriend before he went into the service"
Lexi: "and how do you know that?"
Jen: "because of the History Channel"
Lexi: "good old History Channel
Jen: "So, he became Captain America and from that moment on, a symbol of America. Eh is rushed to the front lines, he becomes a war hero. Then he is frozen in ice"
Lexi: "mhm"
Jen: "So based on everything Bruce has told me and the history channel after he gets unfrozen, he goes from world-threatening disaster to world-threatening disaster. That's when he's not a fugitive from the law, right"
Lexi: "please get to the point"
Jen: "you're hearing the whole thing"
Lexie groans and Jen continues to talk
Jen: "it seems like he was pretty, pretty busy"
Lexi: "please get to the point, I'm begging you"
Jen: "obviously Captain America was a virgin"
Lexi: "babe, why are you so obsessed with Captain America's love but more specifically his sex life"
Jen: "I don't know, this car ride has been a bit boring"
Lexi chuckles at her girlfriend
Lexi: "I can't with you at times"
Jen: "that's such a lie"
They both laugh
Lexi: "Well, since you are so interested in that topic, why don't you ask your cousin Bruce? He knew Steve"
Jen: "trust me, I tried and it got nowhere"
Lexi chuckles
Jen: "how's work going?"
Lexi: "it's going..."
Jen: "what's wrong?"
Lexi: "men just being men. Work has been overwhelming and it's not helping that they don't take me seriously. It's 2023/24 and it feels like we are still in the 50s"
She sighs
Jen: "why do you stay there, you know you can find somewhere else to"
Lexi: "but what if I don't"
Jen: "if you need to, I'm sure I can get you a job-"
Lexi: "no.no. I don't want to rely on you"
Jen: "well it would be better than working where you are at"
Lexi: "Jen, I will manage, you don't have to worry about me"
Jen: "Okay"
Lexi looks out the window at the scenery
Jen: "the GPS says we will be there in 4 hours"
Lexi: "woohoo"
Jen: "I thought you would be excited to see your family"
Lexi: "don't get me wrong, I love my family but sometimes they are so pushy. It's the first time I have ever bought a girlfriend home with me"
Jen: "so I'm the first huh"
Lexi: "oh shut up"
They both laugh
Lexi: "I have brought guys home but not girls"
Jen: "Well, I'm honored to be the first. Now, back to the topic of this drive"
Lexi: "Jen!"
She playfully shoves Jen's right arm
Jen: "love you"
Lexi: "I love you too you dork"
They both laugh and continue to talk. As they are talking, something jumps in front of the car making Jen swerve off the road. The car tumbles down the hill, landing upside down. Jen is able to undo her seatbelt and climb out of the car safely
Jen: "Lexi"
Jen rushes over to the passenger side of the car
Jen: "Lexi, Lexi"
She tries to open the car door but can't
Jen: "shit"
Jen transforms into a she-hulk and rips off the car door. She grabs Lexi and lays her on the grass
Jen: "Lexi, Lexi"
Jen checks for a pulse. Luckily, it's still there but it's weak
Jen: "don't worry. You're Safe, I will get you to a hospital. Just stay with me"
Jen notices blood running down Lexi's forehead
Jen: "that's not good"
She picks up her girlfriend and as she does, she feels something on her hands
Looking down, she sees blood
Jen: "fuck"
Jen looks at Lexi and notices blood seeping through her gray t-shirt
Jen: "this isn't good, this isn't good at all"
Hours later
Jen: "how long until she wakes up?"
Doctor: "we are unsure, it should be soon"
Jen nods and the doctor walks away. She walks back into the room and sits down in a chair next to the hospital bed
Jen: "I'm not going to leave until you wake up"
She kisses Lexi's forehead
A few hours later
Lexi: "Jen?"
Jen: "hey, how are you feeling?"
Lexi: "everything hurts especially my chest and shoulder"
Jen: "the doctor said that your seatbelt cut into your skin'
Lexi: "great"
She sighs and Jen kisses her girlfriend
Lexi: "how long do I have to stay here?"
Jen: "I'm not sure. Hopefully not long"
Lexi: "my car is totaled isn't it"
Jen: "yeah, I also kind of had to rip the door off as she hulk to get you out"
Lexi: "I don't have a car now, great"
Jen: "hey, we can deal with all of that later, okay"
Lexi: "Okay"
They both kiss
Lexi: "have my parents called at all?"
Jen: "they have, they are driving over as we speak"
Lexi: "oh gosh"
She digs her face into her hands
Jen: "it's okay, it's okay"
A few weeks later
Jen: "morning"
Lexi mumbles something
Jen: "I'm going to get ready for work, will you be okay?"
Lexi: "mhm"
Jen gets out of bed and walks to the bathroom
Jen: "things have been interesting since we've been back. Lexi is better but she is still in a lot of pain. I don't want to leave her but I have to head to work today. We have an unusual case or well my ex-coworker does...anyways-"
Lexi: Jen, babe, who are you talking to?"
Jen: "um no one, sorry..."
Hours later
Jen: "Lexi, I'm home. Lexi?"
Jen tosses her bags and blazer on the couch and walks to the bedroom
Jen: "Lexi?"
Lexi: "bathroom"
Jen walks into the bathroom, seeing Lexi taking care of her still healing seatbelt cut
Jen: "do you need help?"
Lexi: "Please"
Jen nods and walks over, Lexi handing her a container of cream. Jen takes it and starts to apply the cream onto Lexi's shoulder/chest area
Lexi: "how was work or that hearing, what was it?"
Jen: "It was a testimony and it went... well"
Lexi chuckles
Jen: "I have some news"
Lexi: "oh"
Jen: "so I have a new client"
Lexi: "who, what superhero client do you have now?"
Jen: "so she's not superhuman at all"
Lexi: "but that's your department"
Jen: "I know but still. You'll flip out who it is"
Lexi: "well who?"
Jen: "Megan thee stallion"
Lexi: "really! No way"
Jen: "yeah, it's been an experience"
Lexi: "That's amazing Jen. now you don't just represent super humans but celebrities"
Jen: "yeah, it's kind of mind-blowing"
Lexi smiles at her girlfriend
Jen: "Also before I forget, I am going to get drinks tomorrow with my friend Nikki. Do you want to come with us? I know you're still recovering from what happened a few weeks ago and if you don't want to, you don't have to do it"
Lexi: "that sounds like fun, I need to get out of the house. Besides, I start work tomorrow and i know I am going to need a drink after it"
Jen: "Okay, I will let Nikki know"
Lexi: "Okay. oh babe, I made dinner"
Jen "I told you I was going to make dinner when I got home"
Lexi: "I know but you seemed busy so I decided to. Besides, I was getting bored and I needed something to do"
Jen: "you're the best"
She kisses Lexi's cheek
The following day
Nikki: "I can't believe you"
Jen: "okay, I have my reasoning why I took a while to introduce you to her"
Nikki: "and why is that?"
Jen: "I will never disclose that information"
Nikki chuckles at her best friend
??: "Excuse me, ladies. I hate to see two stunning women sitting all alone"
Nikki: "Okay, well there's two of us. So by definition, not alone"
??: "can I buy you sexy ladies a round of drinks"
Jen: "I'm sorry sir, we are waiting for someone and we're not single"
Nikki shakes her head
??: "when you change your mind, I'll be at the bar"
He walks away
Jen: "this is why I don't date men anymore"
Nikki laughs
A few minutes later, Lexi arrives
Lexi walks over and when Jen sees her, her face lights up
Lexi: "I'm so so sorry, it was really busy at work and my boss held me back and-"
Jen gets up from her booth and wraps her arms around Lexi
Jen: "it's okay, you don't need to apologize, I understand"
Lexi smiles at her understanding and lovely girlfriend
Jen: "Nikki, this is Lexi, my girlfriend"
Nikki: "it's nice to meet you, Lexi, Jen always talks about you"
Jen: "Nikki!"
Nikki: "what?"
Lexi laughs
Lexi: "I hope it's all been good"
Nikki: "of course"
Jen and Lexi sit down on the opposite side of the booth
Jen: "I'm going to get us some drinks, I will be right back"
She kisses Lexi's cheek
Nikki: "so what do you do Lexi?'"
Lexi: "I'm a private investigator"
Nikki: "really, how is that?"
Lexi: "it's something, I mainly work around men and it's aggravating"
Nikki: "I understand completely. Before you got here, this old dude was trying to hit on Jen, and I"
Lexi: "oh"
Nikki: "yeah, but Jen shut it down quickly"
Lexi: "of course"
She laughs
Jen walks back over to Nikki and Lexi with drinks in her hands
Jen: "stop drilling her, Nikki"
Nikki: "I'm not, I was saying how you shut that creep earlier"
Jen: "oh right"
Jen sits down next to Lexi, placing the drinks on the table
Jen: "that was fun. Seriously though, why does this always happen when we go out together?"
Lexi: "you mean this has happened before?"
Nikki: "about three other times"
Lexi: "what?"
Jen: "living in LA as a woman is something else"
she takes a drink
Lexi: "agreed"
Nikki: "let's stop talking about ugly ass men and have a good night:
Jen and Lexi agree, they all clink their glasses together and take a drink
