Mockingbird

It was a typical Saturday night. Bobbi was at her home watching a movie when she heard the doorbell ring

Bobbi: "weird, it's 9:30, who could that be?"

Getting up, she walks to the front door and opens it, her best friend Lyra standing in front of her with tears streaming down her face

Bobbi: "Lyra? Oh my gosh, what happened?!"

Lyra: "Jack-Jack"

Tears run down Lyra's face

Bobbi: "what did he do?"

Lyra: "h-he came home drunk. He was mad and started hitting me. I tried fighting back but I couldn't"

Bobbi: "oh my gosh, Ly, come in"

Bobbi ushers her best friend inside and onto the couch

Lyra: "I'm sorry, I-I didn't know where else to go"

Bobbi: "don't apologize at all"

She sits down next to her best friend and hugs her

Lyra:"B-Bobbi"

Bobbi: "what is it Ly?"

Lyra: "I'm pregnant"

Bobbi: "what?"

Lyra: "I-I found out this morning"

Bobbi: "what are you going to do?"

Lyra: "I'm not ready to have kids, I still want to live my life. I-I've never wanted kids, I'm scared, I'm scared and I don't know what to do"

Bobbi: "whatever you choose to do, I will be right by you to support and help you no matter what"

Lyra: "thanks Bobbi, you're the best"

A few months later, Bobbi and Lyra are walking down the street passing stores and resultants

Bobbi: "do you mind if I run in really quick to see if they have something"

Lyra: "not at all. I'm going to stay out here, it looks crowded and I don't feel comfortable going in there"

Bobbi: "okay I'll be quick"

She walks into the store leaving Lyra outside. Taking out her phone, she starts to scroll through it. Lyra hears someone call her so she looks up, only to see Jack

Jack: "Lyra!"

Lyra: "j-Jack"

Jack storms over and grabs

Jack: "what the hell did you do!"

Lyra: "what?"

Jack: "what the hell did you do to my kid! I remember you were carrying my child before you ran away"

Lyra: "I-I didn't keep it"

Jack: "how could you!"

He continues to tighten his grip on Lyra

Lyra: "you-you're youre hurting me!"

Jack: "you deserve it after what you did to my kid!"

All of a sudden, Jack is grabbed and slammed against a wall by none other than Bobbi

Bobbi: "don't you put your hands on her"

Jack: "who the fuck are you"

Bobbi: "Her best friend but you might know me as Mockingbird"

Jack: "get your hands off of me!"

Bobbi punches Jack across the face

Bobbi: "don't you dare get near her ever again. You hear me"

Jack: "y-yeah"

Bobbi: "good"

She drops Jack and walks over to Lyra

Bobbi: "are you okay?"

Lyra: "mhm"

Bobbi: "come on, let's go home"

Lyra nods and they both start to walk away from Jack

Months later

Daisy: "going to Cuba was the best. We met these people who took us all around giving us a personal tour. They took us to these excellent restaurants, so glad because we wouldn't have gone to them if they didn't show us"

Lyra: "that sounds amazing. I've always wanted to go to Cuba. My mom was born there. We always planned to go but never got the chance"

Daisy: "next time I go there, I'll invite you"

Lyra: "Really?"

Daisy: "mhm. Make it a girls' trip"

Lyra: "that sounds really fun. I'm going to get another soda, want one?"

Daisy: "I'm good"

Lyra gets up and walks out of the room leaving daisy smiling. Looking up she sees Bobbi staring at her

Daisy: "what's with that look, Bobbi"

Bobbi: "you like Lyra, don't you"

Daisy: "what I-I"

Bobbi: "lie as much as you want daisy but I can tell by the way you look at her"

Daisy: "okay I like her but please, don't tell her"

Bobbi: "I won't but"

Daisy: "but?"

Bobbi: "just treat her right. If not, you're ending up 6 feet under"

Daisy: "I will, I promise you"
