Anakin's pov
"So you see chancellor, though I appreciate the offer to join your staff in Adrian's I have to refuse," Anakin spoke politely as he walked in pace with the shrivelled old man. Palpatine frowned at this and gave his young friend an incredulous look. Clearly this was not the response he wanted for nor the one he had been expecting. However Anakin was sure of his decision and believed he was doing the best for not just himself, but his family and the republic itself.
"However I have been in contact with Mastwe Starfallen,
"Master Starfallen has returned?" The chancellor asked now looking up to the side in order to view Anakins expression. The tall young man nodded his head only slightly disgruntled at being cut off. This was after all his second mentor.
"Yes: she returned last night back from classified deployment, i believe she would be perfect for your personal security team, in fact she should be arriving to meet with you any moment now." Anakin replied as they proceeded on at a casual pace through the halls. The chancellor walked on giving something of a content hum from the younger man's words. Now this new development seemed to intrigue the elder man a great deal.
"I see, I thank you my boy, this seems like a most excellent idea indeed." The chancellor replied as they came to the end of the long corridor. Just as Anakin had said, there by the door to the man's office Kaida was waiting in borrowed robes far smarter than her own, hair brushed for the first time in months and pulled back into two neat little buns. I gave a little smile seeing her, sure that i'd made the right decision in giving her this opportunity. She'd be far happier on Coruscant near to her husband than out their.
"In that case I'll leave you both to settle the finer details," I added turning back to face the chancellor briefly and giving him a bow out of respect then walking forward. I paused by Kaida, hesitant to actually say something nice to her. Damm fatherhood really had changed me, this woman was my worst enemy and yet here I was providing her the safest job in the current galaxy. Pausing at her side I rose a brow looking to the scarred woman.
"Go on: your futures back in you hands now." I whispered giving her side a nudge from my elbow. She rolled her eyes and gave me the slightest of grateful smiles. Yes I'd just given up the chance to stay here while my wife was set to rest...but I knew
it was the right thing to do. It was the honourable decision.
Leaving her with the chancellor I made my way to the exit, eager to get home after the mornings meetings. There was a good reason I'd planned all my meetings for the morning, the council was having Obi wan and I posted back to the front lines in just a couple of days and until then I wanted to be with my wife and make sure she settled. Last thing I wanted was for her to insist on coming back to to the war front with me when she was yet again pregnant. This time she was going to have the most peaceful pregnancy possible.
Heading out the senatorial building there was plenty of press about as always. For the first weeks it was fun having people so excited to take pictures of me, now it was just a chore. Luckily Rex and the boys brought me a cap to hide behind during to moments. Pulling the front down a bit I tried to sneak my way threw.
"General Skywalker any comment of the Jedi's handling of events on Mandolore?" One reporter asked thrusting a mic my way. I rolled my eyes and slipped past even if it was a fair question.
"General Skywalker! General Skywalker! What's it like being the only Jedi allowed to marry?" Another reporter asked, a young one evidently looking for a quick sweet story, I nearly stopped but instead it was just a reminder that I wanted to get back to my wife. So I kept moving.
"General Skywalker, any comment on rumours of an attack from the Dillau empire?" Another reporter asked and this time I did halt. The words swan around my head for a moment. They said rumour, that meant this was just to get a reaction.
"..,that's not something to joke around about kid." I replied in a low voice before finally boarding my ship and starting up the engine. I didn't even look back, I just drove off back towards the apartment complex. It was true, I may take jokes to far and push the limits of what should be said in certain situations. But you do not bring up the Dillau empire lightly, even i know this.
Anyway, now I get to go home to my beautiful wife and little princess of a daughter. This was the best part of my days, seeing my two beautiful girls. Thinking about it I couldn't help but smile as I turned into the parking area. Yes these were the moments I lived for...
(Y/n)'s pov
The morning had been peaceful thus far. Anakin insisted after yesterday my revelation that I get plenty of rest, and Leia had me signed off work for the next month. I was apparently only a couple of months in and already my friends were babying me. So in the living room of our apartment with my little girl on my lap as we watched the holonet together. We weren't alone either,
Padme was here too since she was in the same ship so to speak.
It was super exciting we were going to get to go threw this together. Padme and I had already made a pact to be staying with each other since our partners couldn't be around. What was sweeter is I was going to help her break the news to Fives. He was going to be so surprised.
"Ladies, who's up for another round of tea." Oh yes, Padme wasn't the only guest, Leia was here to since she had a day off. She wouldn't be here long but decided she wanted to stop by to make sure we were taking care of ourselves. She brought along a couple of padawans two - apparently their masters were in a meetings and she was baby sitting them for the time being. There names were Trilla and the boy i'd briefly met before, Cal. Both were just sat quietly in the corner studying quietly, it was sweet, gave the apartment a real family feel.
"We're fine thank you Leia, you should come sit down, you've been on your feet all morning." I replied calling back over my shoulder. Placing my teacup back down a readjusted Ari on my lap and let her hold my hand again. The girl was nearly eight months old now, she was growing up so fast it was kinda of scary. Still, she was my sweetheart.
"Oh gracious no, I need to finish this washing up before-
"I'm home!" My husband called from the doorway and the hinge clicked and Anakin walked in. Smiling sweetly I placed Ari down on the couch then pushed myself up, heading over to greet the man back from work. Sure enough there he was, hanging up his cloak and placing his lightsaber on the self before stepping in fully.
"Welcome back my love." I greet stepping forward and embracing him into my arms. He instantly hugged my back into his gentle arms, kissing my temple lovingly. He then pulled back and cupped my face, looking lovingly down into my eyes.
"It's good to be back, and it's even better to see you my Angel." He replied softly, forehead gently pressed to my awn as he caressed my cheek with his thumb. My smile grew from his loving words. However he then pulled away fully and looked over my shoulder.
"We have company?" He questioned raising a curious brow as he obviously saw Padme on the couch and probably the padawans in the corner. I gave him a shy little smile then leaned up onto my toes, kissing his cheek. Heading back inside the living space Leia popped out wearing the same apron as earlier.
"Oh I was just leaving with the kids, I only came by to make sure these two ate some decent food." Leia spoke as she stepped out, drying her hands off on a cloth as she did so. Anakin looked frown her to the padawans behind as he discarded his outer tunic onto the back of a near chair. My dear husband just shrugged looking back to the kindly woman.
"No need to rush, you're welcome hear any time Leia," He responded to her before heading over and taking a seat carefully beside Ari on the couch. The girl giggled and clapped her hands together excitedly. She really did love her father.
"Dadda..!" The little girl exclaimed excitedly with a bright gleam to her beautiful blue eyes. I smiled not just because of the sweetness of the action. Hit because elf the soft cute smile that appeared across Anakins lips moments later. He reached out and picked his up, placing a sweet adoring little butterfly kiss upon her forehead as she giggled.
"That's right princess, dad's home." He replied in a soft gentle and loving tone. It was much u line to his usual commanding tone we heard upon the battlefield.
This was a soft loving voice, one filled with adoration. It warmed my heart to hear.
"Aww, you make such a sweet father Ani." Padme chuckled softly from the opposite end of the plush couch. He looked up and gave her a truest smile. She was right though, he really did make an amazing father, the best in fact.
"Well it helps I have the most adorable daughter and beautiful wife in existence." Anakin replied reaching out and gently taking my wrist with one hand. He tugged my other to sit right at my side and kissed my neck. Giving a chuckle I batted him away playfully with my hand.
"Anakin...there are padawans present." I reminded him though suspected he was still very much aware. Almost as is to prove my suspicions correct Anakin shrugged and gave a smirk. The smirk on this man...how was it even possible.
"So? They're teens they get it." He replied in that nonchalant manner. Gods help us when our little Ari becomes a teenager, I'm not sure I can handle that much sass. Saying that, taking care of Ari and Ahsoka was never as tiresome as I'd expected. So perhaps she'd be a delight to handle, my husband on the other hand? I'm positive he'd never outgrow his childish ways.
"Anakin..." I sighed resting my head against his shoulder. He truly did have a remarkable amount of confidence.
"Yes love?" He hummed in responsive question, innocently looking to me though his smirk told me he knew exactly what I was on about. Rolling my eyes again I got up and kissed the top of his head.
"You're encouragible..." I whispered with a smile of my own, knowing I'd have it no other way. Before I could walk away I felt myself spun as I was gently pushed back down to the couch. When the room stopped spinning I looked up and saw my husband stood before me once more. He really wasn't going to let me do anything during the pregnancy that was for sure.
"Ah ah,no pregnant wife of mine is going to be walking around unnecessarily." Anakin insisted giving my hand a squeeze then picking up Ari as he went towards the kitchen. I just smiled knowing there was no sense fighting this. Anakin would be protective no matter what, it was his nature. I just had to be glad that he wasn't suffering nightmare or preaching about the dark side this time around.
"If you're going to the kitchen could I have another mug of tea?" I called after him as he walked away. As he left Leia cane and sat by the coffee table and I realised we probably needed some more snacks.
"Oh actually could you bring out a fresh tray?" I called in addition tilting my head over my shoulder and watching as he disappeared into the kitchen with our little girl.
"Sure thing Angel."
Anakin hummed from the adjacent room followed by the light clink and rattle of various packets and crockery. Settling back down I made myself perfectly comfortable on the couch, and when Anakin returned minutes later with the fresh tray of tea and biscuits we all continued to talk for quite a while longer, until after dark certainly.
Leia was the first to leave, wishing Anakin luck on his next mission before taking the two padawans back to the temple. She said she'd be around to help if I needed it and all I had to do was call, she even gave me a little gift all wrapped up for when the baby was born. She made me swear not to open it and so I promised I wouldn't, keeping it instead right on my nightstand.
A half hour later Padme went back to her place next door. She too wished us both luck and hugged baby ari goodnight before leaving. Padme was definitely our rock throughout all this, it wouldn't surprise me if she became the next chancellor after Palpatine - because let's face facts, his days had to be numbered now.
Darth Sidious would fall and peace would prevail.
Lying in bed later that evening I watched from the covers as Anakin rocked out baby girl in his arms. As he sang her a quiet lullaby and set her down in the crib, wishing her the sweetest of dreams then dimming down the lights. Anakin then removed his shirt - something I'd got used to with time. He came over and tucked himself under the sheets beside me. I smiled feeling him brush his lips against my shoulder and wrap an arm around my waist, resting his chin in the crook on my neck.
"Did you have a good day my love..?" He whispered so as not to wake the little one. As he spoke he rubbed my tummy, likely trying to connect with the little force signature growing within it while he could. It was a shame he had to go back out to the front lines...
"It was really nice actually...I had great fun," - I replied placing one of my hands atop his- "how about you? How was your day love?" I asked in response turning a little to look towards him.
"It went well; the chancellor accepted my proposal of taking your former master on as a guard instead of myself, so I'd say that makes it a success." Anakin replied and as he did I felt his muscles tense momentarily with the shrug of his shoulders. I smiled, enjoying the fact he finally seemed to be getting on with my old master. The woman had been having such a rough life the past few years, it would be nice if she could make some friends.
"You're a good man Anakin..." I replied quietly, leaning around and lightly placing a kiss upon his lips as we lay there. He truly was the love of my life, my one and only. My soulmate....
"Well, I do try..," he chuckled pulling my right into his bare chest and holding me there and we cuddled together in the peace of our room.
I loved this man so much...
Third person pov
In the chancellors office the lights had been dimmed down. All the senators had left the building by this time and outside there was minimal traffic outside in the skies of Coruscant and only the red amour red guards remained outside the man's door. Neither one of them moved as a familiar young lady robed in dark grey velvet walked right into the office, giving the chancellor a mocking bow as her wrist flicked and all the blinds slid closed to seal them off.
"You summoned me my lord..?" She spoke in a tone think with sarcastic venom and sly intent, cold blue eyes glowing. Palpatine leaned forward at her comment and a sly smirk grew across his wrinkled lips.
"My dear girl: what a pleasure it is to know you'll come rubbing when I call-
"Cut it father or I'll drive my dagger right threw your heart." The woman, Venic, Hiraeth, the daughter Palpatine - whatever you wished to call her. She stood there dagger teased between her slender fingers as she sat upon one of his priceless antiques.
"Please my dear, desist from the death threats,"-the chancellor spoke with a disparaged sigh.-"we have had a change of plans, I will not be asking you to attack the Skywalker brood any longer..,instead I have a new target for you." He responded sliding a picture face down across the desk as such speed it flew up from the edge for the woman to pull threw the air using the force. She punched it between her thumb and forefinger and rose a brow.
"...this is a Jedi." She replied simply, looking to him as though this was some insult to her being.
"Yes I know, he's a Jedi and I want you to kill him in a way that places blame on the order itself." Palpatine responded lacing the fingers or his two hard together upon the desk as he looked towards his daughter. His daughter the psychopathic killer...
"Can do: can do with ease in fact, when do you want this done?" She asked looking back up from the picture of the dark haired green eyed Jedi knight.
"Six months." Palpatine replied casually to which the young woman scoffed in disbelief.
"Six months? I could kill hum sixty times by then." The woman replied with a laugh as she snapped her fingers and the photograph ignited into blue sparking flames. Palpatine turned his chair and looked out at the city beyond. His lips curled into a smile, a cruel, horrible smile.
"...oh I know my dear," -he replied with a sick little laugh- "But we must wait until the perfect time, when the universe is least expecting a strike we will reveal out hand and seize control using a new weapon of my own design..."
"That's kinda dumb."
"Hiraeth...shut up."
