"Ugh Schuyler! Move your feet!" Loki moaned from next to you on the sofa. You had swung your legs over his went you flopped down. "Hhmmpp" You made some inhuman noise as a response; you couldn't really speak properly because you were face down with your face mushed into a cushion. Bored with waiting for you to move, Loki pushed your legs with such a force that you flipped off the sofa and landed heavily on the floor. Loki cracked up and his laughs attracted the attention of the rest of the Avengers. They all laughed as well "Hey don't e so mean! She could be hurt!" Loki said and he helped you up. Puzzlement flickered across their faces as they turned back to what each of the them was doing. But they had known you both for long enough to know that was normal. You and Loki had a love/hate relationship; which usually meant that you found it highly enjoyable and amusing to make fun of/prank each other but God forbid anyone else do it!
Natasha thought that you liked him, despite your protests; and was forced trying to get you together. Even though you argued all the time, you and Loki made a very good fighting team. As you were both so similar, the two of you always seemed to be in tune with each other and would always have each other's backs; although the similarities often caused 'disagreements' to occur. At the moment you weren't feeling well at all, hence the flipping on the sofa, so when Loki saw your face he instantly knew something was wrong. "You're not hurt are you?" He asked concerned. "No, no. I just don't feel good, that's all." Loki looked relieved he hadn't hurt you by pushing you off the sofa. "Yeah you don't look very well! If you're ill you should be in bed!" You waved away his worries. "I'm fine, really! I just feel a bit woozy and a little bit sick." He shook his head not accepting the answer. Loki dashed from the room as you sat on the sofa again, but w came rushing back in with a glass f water and two tablets. "Here have these, they'll help." You thanked him and put one of the pills in your mouth taking a swing of water with it. After you'd swallowed it, here was a strange feeling in your stomach. A feeling you recognised. You quickly thrust the glass at Loki and ran for the bathroom. Once you entered it, you headed for the toilet; just reaching it in time to throw up. Footsteps rushed after you and pulled your hair away from your face and stroked your back soothingly. Once you'd finished throwing up, you flushed the chain and rinsed your mouth out with the glass of water handed to you. "You look like shit right now." Loki's comment made you smile "I feel a lot better now." He nodded before standing up and gesturing for you to do the same. "Go to bed and try to sleep Schuyler." You nodded accepting his advice before trudging up to your bedroom. When you were just on the point of falling asleep a silent Loki crept in and left some more paracetamol and a fresh glass of water by your bed, before sneaking out. Luckily he didn't wake you up and you snuggled down to a deep sleep with a smile on your face.
You awoke to the faint sound of shouting. Confused you jumped out of bed, only to stumbled ns have to quickly regain your balance so you didn't fall over. You felt enter but still a little off. You entered your en suite and brushed your teeth and hair and had a shower before getting dressed. As you wandered downstairs the raised voices were still arguing. You hesitated outside the room, secretly having a little listen. You easily recognised Loki's voice. "She can't go! She's too ill! For gods sake Tony, why can't someone else go?!" You heard a deep sigh "Because, Loki, Fury wants you to go and the only person who fights well with you is Schuyler!" You decided to enter the room. Pretending not to have heard the conversation you said good morning to everyone and sat on the couch. "Is everything okay? I heard raised voices." Loki sighed "How are you feeling?" You thought for a moment "Fine, still a little off but other than that I'm perfectly fine!" Tony gestured to you "See Schuyler said she's fine!" You say up a little "What is going on?" Tony looked to you. "Fury has come to me with a mission that needs doing. For some reason he wants Loki to do it and you're the only person who works well with him! However he's arguing that you're too ill!" Pug paced over to Loki and met his concerned filled eyes. "Loki I'm coming with you. I feel so much better than yesterday and I want to do this!" He sighed and conceded to your puppy dog eyes. "Fine!"
A while later the two of you had been debriefed and were going over the plan. Someone had somehow managed to hack SHIELD and had stolen rather important information, it was your job to get it back. Loki was to be the muscle and you were to retrieve the actual files. "Come on then!" You said brightly "Are you sure you're okay?" Loki asked for the billionth time. "Yes Loki, I'm fine!" He smiled "Then stop wasting time and let's go!" He said as he started to walk away. You shook your head chuckling and ran after him. The two of you entered the hostile building and headed straight for the main computer room. As you began to run you felt a little woozy but shook it off and carried on. Due to Loki being able to make you both invisible, you reached the computers very quickly. Loki was keeping an eye out so couldn't keep you invisible but could sustain it for himself. You didn't mind much as you knew there was only one exit and Loki had it covered. You sat down in front of the computer and for some reason couldn't focus on the words on the screen. You blinked a few times and tried to concentrate harder. You stood up and rubbed your eyes. You turned back to the computer and all of a sudden felt extremely dizzy. You stumbled backwards and tripped over the chair, crashing to the floor.
Loki spun round at the noise and ran over to you. "Schuyler! Are you okay?" He helped you to your feet and supported you; as you couldn't seem to stand properly. "Schuyler? Can you hear me?" Everything seemed out of focus and you felt weak as tired. You slowly turned your head to Loki and just managed to say "What's happening?" He looked slightly scared, slightly worried and very confused. "I don't know, we need to get you out of here!" You managed to shake your head and gesture to the computer; it seemed like you'd lost control of your body! "We need the information!" You protested. "No Schuyler we need to get you to a med team!" You pushed away from him and used the force to throw yourself into the chair in front of the computer. You squinted and just about managed to focus on the screen enough to type in a command and bring up all files containing SHIELD info. Suddenly an alarm went off somewhere near. "Well that's a bit late. Schuyler we don't have enough time to look through for the right files! Just transfer them all!" You highlighted all files and copied them to your USB stick. Loki yanked it out and pulled you to your feet. "Lean on me." He said as he pulled you from the room. He tried to make you invisible but it flickered and went 'out'. "I can't support you and keep us both invisible at the same time." You went to pull yourself away from Loki in the hopes that he would be able to sustain the invisibility. He locked his arms around you. "I don't care if it's risky, I'm not letting you walk by yourself!" This surprised you slightly but you didn't have enough energy to react. He started to walk again when thundering footsteps were heard behind you. Loki jerked you into a conveniently placed alcove in the wall and pressed both of you up against the wall. It was like you were embracing. You heard someone shout for men to check the computer room. You and Loki poked yours heads out and had a quick peek; there were so many soldiers. "They're not here!" Shouted the men from the computer room. Then they carried on down the hall towards you. "I'm going to have to fight." Loki whispered, while holding the both of you against the wall. "No you can't! I won't be able to help you!" You whispered back to him adamantly. "If I fight there's more of chance you'll be able escape! That's what matters." Then he ripped himself away from you and jumped into the middle of the hall. He threw all his power at them, while you screamed for him to stop. He didn't.
Loki couldn't hold off all the soldiers and eventually some managed to get closer. That was when you decided to step in. You stumbled out to stand next to Loki. You used your power to read the soldier's minds and shout out to Loki where to attack them; this was how your partnership worked. You would alert Loki to the enemy's weak spots, he would attack using the information, and if, on rare occasions, soldiers got close enough you would physically fight them, while Loki would try to help you by randomly using his magic. At the moment you were managing to cope well. However the men still got closer and crept nearer and nearer to you. They got too close. Loki couldn't help you anymore. One of the men leaped at you, you clumsily side stepped his attack and pushed him further away from you. Another reached for you, you tried to shout for Loki but the soldier hit you in the face; knocking you to the ground.
Your head slammed into the ground and you cried out. Your vision blackened around the edges and your body slumped against the ground. "Schuyler!" Loki screamed as he saw you hit the ground. He leapt over to you and fought away the enemies while trying to protect you. The men fought him and Loki resorted to a mixture of physical fighting and using his powers. The men battled Loki down to the ground and he landed next to you. You were struggling to remain conscious and your eyes were slowly closing. You met Loki's eyes. "Loki..." You whispered. The soldiers prepared to take you off to wherever you were being taken. Loki's face hardened when you winced in pain. "No." He said loudly. Then he gathered all his strength and pushed himself of the ground. He seemed to emit dominance and power. Seeing you weak, beaten and in pain and sparked something inside him. He turned to the men and unleashed all his magic on them. Bright spurts of colour lashed out and hit the men, knocking them down and killing some of them. You couldn't move, could barely speak.
Suddenly Loki collapsed onto the floor in a heap of exhaustion. "Loki..." You attempted to call him name. Somehow he heard you and dragged himself up and over to you. Loki leant over you and looked into your eyes. "Oh Schuyler, we've got to get you to a doctor!" He looked at your legs "Can you walk?" You mouthed "No." But no sound came out. He sighed "Loki, it's fine. Just sit with me." You just about managed to whisper that. His head snapped up "No! Don't you dare act like that! I'm not losing you! I can't lose you!" He exclaimed loudly. You weakly smiled. Loki slipped his arms beneath your back and under your knees. You opened your eyes. Loki took a breath and rocked back onto his feet with you in his arms. Then he took another breath and, leaning against the wall, pushed himself up to standing. He made an "Oompf" noise as he moved you in his arms. You were too tired to protest to him carrying you. As he was a god he was very strong. You knew he was only finding it hard to carry you because he was exhausted. If you were able to speak you would have said "Loki let me down. You'll just hurt yourself!" But instead you made an odd noise of protest. "Shh Schuyler, it'll be okay. You're safe with me." Inside you smiled at his comment but your body dragged you down into the darkness.
When you woke up you were in a hospital room, alone. You clenched your eyes shut and blinked a few times. Your head felt a little heavy and you had a small headache but other than that, you felt completely fine! A doctor came in and asked how you were feeling. After you answered all his questions, you asked him a few. "Where's Loki? Is he okay? Can I see him?" The doctor thought a moment before answering. "Loki's body was extremely weak after he carried you back here and was treated by doctors. He's fine now and is waiting to see you. However, as you have only just woken up you cannot have any visitors for the day." This angered you "No, you don't understand! I need to see him!" The doctor shook his head and was about to say something when his pager went off. "Loki will not be coming in to see you today Schuyler. I am needed elsewhere now, I'll return in a while. Good bye." Then turned and walked from the room. You lay on the bed for a while longer before realising something. "If he can't come in to see me, then I need to go out to see him!" You said to yourself. Then you pulled back the cover and swung your legs out of the bed. After detaching yourself from all the wires, you spotted a pile of clothes on the chair. They were your clothes and must have been bought for when you were let out. You pulled them on and poked your head out the door. The corridor was empty. Getting up had made your head feel a little odd but after standing still for a minute or two you felt your head clear.
Creeping out into the hall you ran down it and into the waiting room. He wasn't there. You walked over to a woman sat alone. "Excuse me? Have you seen a young man with black hair and most likely wearing green, black and gold?" She thought for a moment before saying "Yes I think so. A doctor came out and told someone, who sounds like your man, that he couldn't see the person he was here for. Then the man looked very angry before walked off down that corridor." She pointed at the one you had just come from. "Thank you!" You said as you turned back the corridor. Loki had probably had the same thoughts as you and gone searching for you. Maybe he'd passed your room and not spotted you. You walked down the hall, hiding from any doctors and nurses in case they spotted you. It took a long time to find Loki. You eventually found him, on the same ward you had been, glancing through glass panels in the doors. You froze when you saw him. The last things he'd said to you were "I can't lose you!" And "You're safe with me!" What effect did that have on your friendship? Did he feel differently? Thinking about it you realised that you felt different. You loved him. "Oh my god." You said as the thought crashed onto you. Loki's head snapped up when he heard you speak. "Schuyler!" He said from the other end of the hall. "Loki." You whispered. Then, as if in sync, the both of you were running towards each other.
You met in the middle, crashing into each other. He wrapped his arms around your waist and lifted you off your feet, spinning you round. You laughed and wrapped your arms around his neck. He placed you back down and looked into your eyes. You looked into his and saw love. He saw the same in yours. Neither of you said anything, there was silence. It felt like just the two of you. Loki leant his head towards you and you leant towards him. Your lips met and immediately there were sparks. He pulled back and met your eyes again "Oh Schuyler. I love you." He said, you had never seen his look so vulnerable as he waited for your reply. "I love you too." You said gently. Then he smiled and kissed you again, this time more forcefully; pushing you against the wall. You kissed for a while before you remembered that the doctor would be returning to your room soon. "Loki" you said pulling away "I need to get back to my room!" He groaned "No! Just stay with me!" You giggled "I can't!" He walked you back to your room and then went back to the waiting room.
You quickly changed back into your hospital gown and got back in bed, just in time for the doctor to enter. "Looking at your tests we think that you were suffering from severe dehydration. We can discharge you now but I need you to make sure you drink loads for the next few days." You nodded and then the doctor went to fill out your papers while you got dressed. The doctor took you to the waiting room and you hugged Loki. "Let's get out of here." He said immediately. The two of you left the hospital and drove back to the Avengers tower.
"Schuyler, what are we now?" Loki asked. You were slightly put out by his question and got slightly flustered. "Umm I don't really know." He looked slightly disheartened before saying. "Well I know what I want us to be." He paused "Schuyler will you be my girlfriend?" You giggled and nodded "I'd love to be!" Then everyone else arrived and questioned you about everything that had happened. That night Loki slept in your room as he fell asleep while you were discussing what had happened. You didn't mind. The two of you just slept curled up with each other, completely content.
