Garret tells one particularly crude joke about a Pope in a bar that has everyone laughing loudly. Benjamin, chuckling, turns to you and watches as you throw your head back in laughter. Your face is practically glowing with happiness, despite the looming sword hanging over all of your heads. A warmth swells in his chest that he doesn't quite recognize. It's only when you open your eyes and meet his gaze that a realisation hits him so suddenly that he has to look away.
If he had a heart, it would be beating like thunder against his chest. He hasn't felt this way in a long time, and at first, he wasn't sure why he felt like a bolt of lightening struck him when your eyes locked, or why he always loved to see you smile and laugh. But he knows now why you have such a strong affect on him.
