-

It was bittersweet for you but nonetheless you were content and ready for the next few years of your life, even if you would do it all without Levi by your side.

"Promise me, you'll do it?" You said in a hopeful voice, wiping the tears that welled in your eyes.

"Yes," Ymir responded. "I promise."

As you threw a hood over your head, you began to contemplate all the decisions you made in your life, up until now. Nothing made sense, yet this one choice did. And you trusted Ymir with all your heart that your promise was going through.

Screams filled the atmosphere as you carefully made your way through the hectic streets, no one seemed to suspect you, rather they were too focused on running the opposite direction. It started with a flash of lightening, then the agonizing roar of none other than Eren's titan whose fist lunged towards Annie.

A part of you felt the urge to run away.

It was the perfect moment. You were still a soldier and could easily outrun Ymir, who was escorting you to the walls. Especially with all the chaos that was ensuing, it would be hard to keep track of where you were.

You wondered if you would regret not running away.

"Ymir," you turned your head to her. "You still haven't told me where you're taking me."

She grabbed your wrist, pulling you away from a running passerby who would have bumped into you. "It's a place far, far, far from here."

You shook her grip off your wrist and stopped in the middle of the street, staring at her expression. She was unamused, yet you could see the pity in her eyes when her brows furrowed at the second she saw your frown.

"[Name]... You and that child will have a safe place. Would you rather stay here without guarantee that you or that child will survive?" Ymir placed both her hands on your shoulders, "Get a hold of yourself. That child needs a safe home and we can give you that home if you let us. Now let's get goin-"

"Why? Just cause I so happen to be a titan shifter too? How did you guys even know?"

"[Name], we can't do this right now... You already agreed you'd do what we tell you now let's go."

"No."

Ymir pulled you to a small corner behind an abandoned home, unveiling your hood to see you more clearly, also to get rid of the distraction of people trampling over each other.

She sighed, defeated. "Before Petra died, she was able to get intel from your father, who had already known that you had titan abilities. This was on behalf of Annie, Reiner, and Bertolt's orders. Then, when she was finished with your father she-"

"-killed him."

"Yes, she had to get rid of any evidence that indicated any traitor."

You didn't even realize the single tear that fell to the ground at the memory of your dead father, mostly because you were too occupied with your shaking hands. The death of your father felt like it had happened so long ago.

"Listen, [Name]." Ymir continued, "I don't know as much as Reiner and them, but what I know is that you and Eren have powers that we need. Since we couldn't get Eren, our second option was you and now... that child."

"This child deserves a normal life," you began. "I don't want its purpose to just be some sort of pawn for whatever plan you guys have!"

Every single word you had exhaled had left your breath so quickly it was as if you were trying to verbally escape from yourself, from this hell.

"Nothing is ever normal!" Ymir's voice had raised slightly, but not too much to gain anyone else's attention.

"Well it sure as hell felt fucking normal when I didn't have all this bullshit to be thinking about."

"This pla-" She cleared her throat, "This far away place will be the closest thing to normal you will ever get. You can raise that child without having to worry about titans, and when the time comes where we need you, both of you, then we can fight about it."

There was a short moment of silence between you two, ignoring the screams and thuds that was happening in the background. During this period, Ymir stared at you as you wiped the tears from your eyes.

Is it too late to run?

"[Name]..." a familiar voice broke the silence. "I-Is that...actually you?"
