At the Navy Pier.

We walked over there.

Chief " What's the situation?"

a guy " A brawl broke out, and somebody got stuffed down the cowl vent. "

Chief "Stuffed down the what?"

The guy " I'll show you, come on."

We followed him onto the boat. There were people everywhere.

The guy "Excuse me, guys. Coming through. Coming through. We weren't on the lake a half an hour and all drunken hell broke loose. Yeah, I had to turn them right around."

We walked onto the roof.

Someone was holding a pair of feet out of the vent. the rest of the buddy was down there.

Kelly " Hey, where does this pipe lead?"

The guy "It's the air intake. It leads straight down to the engines."

The guy in the vent yelled " Don't let me go! Whoa, whoa, whoa!"

Chief "Severide, he's slipping! "

Then he and Kelly got ahold of the guys legs.

Kelly "Hey, hey, stop moving."

Chief ""We have to cut him out."

Kelly "Hey, Cruz. Grab the wizzer saw. Capp, Tony, rope bag and Halligans."

Cruz "Wizzer saw, copy that."

--

The guys showed up.

Kelly "Just hold on. We got you. Chief, you got him?"

Chief " Go!"

Suddenly we heard Grissom "What happened?"

Chief looked at Kelly who look at Chief.

Kelly "Victim got stuck in the pipe. He's upside down."

Grissom "I heard this call was on a booze cruise, and I knew it'd be one for the ages."

Kelly put his goggles on and grabbed the saw.

Grissom "Whoa, whoa, Severide, what are you doing? He's jammed in there pretty tight. You could cut him."

Kelly "It's heavy gauge steel. I'm just going to score it, snap the cowl off."

Grissom "You all right with this, Chief?"

Chief "He knows what he's doing."

The guy in the vent "I hope so!"

Kelly started cutting.

The guy in the vent started to yell in panic.

Chief "Come on, guys"

Kelly "All right, Cruz, put your back into it."

Cruz "Yeah, you bet."

The guys lifted the vent up..

Me "Come on, up higher."

Chief and i pulled the guy out.

Kelly "Hey, you okay?"

The guy "Oh, man, I need a drink."

Everyone cheered.

Grissom "Hey, Chief. Good for you on Staten's endorsement. That ought to seal it for you, huh?"

Chief "Oh, I think we're a long way from the finish line, but thank you."

Grissom to Kelly "Looks like you backed the right horse."

Then he walked away.

Chief "He took that well."

Kelly "Florence predicted he would."
