Chapter 3At college-Manya day was passing smoothly today. She knew Brutus was smart enough to leave her alone for few days to avoid wrath of Achilles as he surely had sensed something off beam about Brutus today. She decided to enjoy this serenity till it lasts. During lunch she was standing in the queue, when familiar lavender smell hit her. She turned and found Angel and Emma entering cafeteria with others.  Angel was busy with her phone while Emma was talking to a guy in their group. Emma waved to her with bright smile “Hey beautiful.” Manya started laughing after hearing those words again. Manya waved her hand for Angel but she was still busy on her phone.   Emma nudged her and pointed her attention toward Manya.Angel instantly gave a blissful smile while approaching her. “Hey beautiful,” Angel hugged her. “I don’t think you will make it to the front stall in time. Let me see what I can do about it,” Angel was analyzing queue.  “Come with me,” she dragged her to the front. “Hey captain,” she said to the boy standing in front in queue. Manya was apparently shocked, when she realized that the guy with whom Angel was talking with was Dustin, their college’s football team captain. “Can I order my lunch before you?” Angel said, with a heartwarming smile.  “Sure,” Dustin replied, with a genuine smile while giving them room. After asking Manya what she wants Angel quickly orders their lunch. “Are you coming to game tomorrow?” he asked after buying his lunch. “Definitely,” Angel replied, “Meet my little sis” she added. “Hi,” Dustin said to Manya, “I have seen you at cheerleading audition. You were amazing,” he said further. “Oh really, when can I see you performing,” Angel asked with enthusiasm.Manya lowered her head and replied “I didn’t get in.” “What!” Dustin was shocked. “Why?” he inquired.“I don’t know. Everyone was praising me after my audition, still I didn’t get place in team,” disappointment was clear in her voice.“What happen?” Emma joined. Angel briefed entire situation to her. “Was Esther there?” Dustin questioned. “No, twins were taking our audition,” Manya answered Dustin.“Esther, I have heard that name before,” Angel mumbled to herself.“She is cheerleading team head,” Manya answered her question while pointing toward a beautiful blonde girl with dimples sitting at center table of cafeteria.  “Ok. I know her. Emma she was the dimple girl I told you about,” Angel frowned. “Dustin do you really think, she was good?” Angel asked after some time, “She was not good, she was great,” he edited Angel.  “You know you can talk to her,” Emma suggested Angel.“Hmm,” Angel thought about something and then continued “She is irritating,” and after a pause she added “You beautiful owe me big.”“You know her,” Manya and Dustin blurted out at the same time.“Yeah, that dimple girl is hounding me these days for getting slot in college summer festival,” Angel answered.“Now we should sit somewhere I am really hungry,” Angel grumbled to Emma. “See you later at game or at bonfire at least,” Dustin said with a glimpse of hope in his eyes.“Yeah, I will,” Angel replied while her eyes were fixed to floor trying to avoid looking at him.“You are not going again,” Emma asked when Dustin left. Angel denied with a head shake. “Poor boy has crush on wrong girl.” Emma sighed.“No, he didn’t. We are just friend,” Angel argued.“I am sorry dear but that’s true. He is into you,” Emma chuckled. Manya was trying to process whole situation.“Stop playing cupid. For god sake he is minor,” Angel whispered to herself in disbelief.“He is not minor. He is just one or two year younger than us,” Emma argued.“But I don’t feel anything for him,” she complained.“You don’t feel anything for anyone,” Emma retorted. “Do you even have a heart in here?” poking her chest.“Not funny,” Angel glared. “Sit with us” Angel said, while moving toward an empty seat in cafeteria. “Are you sure?” Manya asked.“You can even call your friend here if you want to. I like making new friends,” Angel answered while typing message on her phone. “I am loner,” Manya replied.“A lone wolf,” Angel cocked her eyebrows.“What?” Manya turned pale in shock.  “You and your fiction novels,” Emma slammed her bag on angel head in frustration.“You read fiction?” Manya asked while recomposing herself. Angel nodded her head in reply.They started eating when rest of the group they left behind settled around them.“Well I am not good with introduction thing so I am just going to tell you their names,” Angel said. “He is,” the boy sitting next to her continued her “Zach, Nice to meet you” in British accent. “I am Daniel,” a Korean boy sitting beside Zach said. “I am Chris”, next boy said, who was a bit busy with his phone.  “I am Emily,” girl who sitting next to Chris introduced herself. “I am Andrew” the last boy introduced himself with yawn.“And guys she is…..” Angel said to introduce Manya but then realized she didn’t know her name and ended her statement with “Oops. I don’t know.” Everyone was laughing at their table now.“I am Manya,” Manya introduced herself.“There was no need of telling her your name. She won’t use it,” Zach said. “She has the bad habit of forgetting people name” Emma added. “Weirdo, she had called me laptop guy for 3 freaking months” Chris said to Angel with a glare. Angel was giggling in response.“Ignore him. Now let me tell you more about them. Zach is Romeo of our group, he loves flirting. Daniel is my lift to everywhere, Chris over there is computer genius, Emily is amazing singer, you already know my best friend Emma and that one is Andre- Andrew are you sleeping?.” Angel poked Andrew who had his head down on table.“No genius. I was sky diving. Wanna join?” Andrew glared.“Yeah, I would love to,” Angel said with frown and hit him hard on head.“Stop fighting,” Emma interrupted them.  “Ignore them. Tell us about yourself.” Emma asked.“Start with your movies collection, I need some for the weekend,” Angel added.“Well I have few romantic movies,” Manya replied.“Wrong answer,” Angel said with a pout.    “Are you sure you are a girl?” Zach cocked his eyebrows, and another set of argument started over there.Manya was enjoying her time in their company while eating, and then she saw a red headed boy approaching their table. “James coming over here,” Daniel informed Angel.Angel frowned “Someone please kill me.”“I found you,” James said with smile.“Lucky for you,” Angel murmured under breath. Other Eyes were fixed on their food while they were trying to suppress there laugh.“Why were you searching for me?” she asked while stabbing her salad with fork.“Actually, um…. Will you… I mean..” James was struggling with words.“You know, I don’t have whole day free for you, so please hurry,” Angel glared at him.“ Willyougoondatewithmethisweekend,” he blurted out.“What?” Angel frowned. Boy sighed and said “Please go on date with me this weekend.”“Please,” Daniel murmured while trying hard to stop his laugh. “Oh,” Angel said while searching for words. “Actually I am already going on date this weekend,” she added trying to sound genuine.“What? You are lying,” he said after studying panic on her face.“And why would I lie to you. I am going on date with ……my boy friend… um….” Angel was trying to remember any name. “Achilles,” Manya completed her statement. “She was just telling us about him” Manya added.“Now leave, she was just narrating her first kiss with him,” Emma added to tease Angel. Angel’s cheeks turned red due to embarrassment. Everybody was smiling at her reaction. James looked away in disappointment and left without saying anything else. “Thanks beautiful for helping me out with name,” Angel relaxed. “Nice choice for the name. I was totally in love with Achilles when I had watched Troy. Brad Pitt was superb in that role. I even don’t remember how many times I have revised that movie to watch Achilles’s fight,” she squealed with excitement. “I just love him,” she said with dreamy eyes.“I remembered it because, my brother’s name is Achilles,” Manya said hesitatingly.“Oh, this is awkward.” Angel said with feeling embarrassed.“I know that was for Brad Pitt. But I won’t mind it even if it was for my brother too,” Manya teased. Angel glared at Manya. Buzzing sound draws Angel attention to her phone. “I am leaving, I have meeting in Auditorium after lunch,” Angel said when she glanced over time on her phone.“Angel, I will come with you, my next Lab is in that direction,” Manya said.“Angel! Did you call me angel?” Angel asked.“Yeah,” Manya was shocked.“That’s not my name,” Angel chuckled,“But Emma called you with that name yesterday,” Manya was confused.“She and Angel don’t match baby girl. I can call her devil but never an angel,” Emma chuckled.“I may not be an angel but you definitely qualify for demon,” the girl whom Manya thought was Angel retorted. “I think I know why you get confused with that name. Actually I was talking about a glass painting of angel yesterday. And name of this devil is Ariana,” Emma explained.“I am sorry,” Manya said. She was feeling stupid for getting wrong name. “Oh come on. Who says sorry for calling someone angel?” Ariana patted Manya head in love. “Now I should leave, otherwise that Godzilla will definitely punish me again for being late.”“Who is Godzilla?” Manya asked.“The Foot ball coach,” Ariana replied as if it was the most obvious answer. After guessing surprised look on Manya’s face she explained further “He is soooo big,” Ariana said while stretching her hands in air to indicate his size. Everyone on the table start laughing. Ariana glare stopped them.“Manya feed your number in here, I will inform you about that audition after talking to Esther,” Ariana passed her phone to Manya.After exchanging number they both left other behind. When they reached Manya’s Lab, she said “This is my lab.”“See you later Beautiful,” Ariana pinched her cheek and ran toward auditorium. In the forest-Achilles had to wait for around two hour before Arthur, his third in command arrived with his clothes. After changing he went back to home with Arthur. Inside house his family was gathered in TV room and watching some classic movie and enjoying their coffee. Grin formed on their faces confirmed his suspicion that dad had told his mom and sister about today’s event.“Not a single word,” he warned them before they could say anything. “Just send coffee in my office,” and he left for his study room.He was deep in his thoughts when Athena arrived with his coffee. He was staring out of window, still going through today’s episode. Deep within his heart he knows that his wolf was not the only one, affected. He had also felt the same restlessness. Athena cleared her throat to draw his son attention toward her.“Hey Mom. Thanks for the coffee,” he said while taking his coffee from Athena.“Is everything ok?” Athena asked.“Yeah, everything is fine.” he sipped his coffee.“What about today’s breakdown?” she moved in front of him looking in his eyes.“That was nothing. I had kept my wolf confined for a long time, so I lost my control over him for some time,” he answered while avoided looking directly in her eyes.“You were near river in your wolf form. You are Alpha you are not supposed to do such blunders. What if some human on the other side…..” she exploded while moving her hands in air.“Mom no one was there. I assured it,” he stopped her in middle.“Anything else you want to tell me,” she questioned, cocking an eyebrow.“Don’t you have any design to work on instead of bothering me,” he hissed.“Behave pup,” she warned. He growled at the comment. “I don’t know what’s wrong with my kids. None of them talk to me anymore,” she whimpered.“Sorry mom, I didn’t mean it in that way”, Achilles tried to console her. “I swear on you I am not hiding anything. If you have any doubt just shoot me,” he added.“Really!” she asked in disbelief.“Yeah,” he replied. Right now he just wanted to get rid of her mother blabbering, and answering her queries was fastest remedy for that.“Umm… Are you-I mean to say- Umm… You know there is nothing wrong if you are- Oh god this is difficult…” she sighed in between her blabbering.Achilles was staring at her with puzzled look. “I will really appreciate if you can wrap it up quickly,” he interrupted. “Yeah, I know. I can do this,” she whispered. “Do you like girls?” she finally asked.“What kind of question was that,” he asked confusion.She closed her eyes for a second, took a long breath and asked him “Are you and victor together? Are you gay?”“What,” Achilles was shocked.“You know we don’t have any problem with you being gay. People have choices and preferences. I understand. There is no need to hide it from us,” she continued her blabbering.“What the hell,” Achilles shouted. “Are you crazy? Are you planning on killing me with embarrassment? From where did you even get this absurd idea?” he bombarded his question. “Oh, so you are not gay. Thank god I really wanted to have grandkids,” she relaxed. “What? Don’t give me that look. You always maintain distance from shewolves in pack. You never date human girls also. You never bring any girl home. You are always with victor, and now when he is away, your wolf is off track. So I got suspicious,” she explained when she saw him glaring. He was struggling to control his temper.“Tell me why you don’t date?” she asked.“Remember, I am Alpha. I have a pack to manage,” he argued.“You can date someone from pack and settle down. She will share your burden,” she replied.“I don’t want to date someone from pack. I have vowed to protect them and dating them felt wrong to my subconscious,” he answered.“Son there is something wrong with your subconscious,” after pause she added “Are you waiting for someone special?” “Jeez Mom. What do you think I am, 12,” he barked.“Ok. Don’t shout on me. You can date my models. Majority of them have crush on you,” she further suggested.“I have standard, I don’t date tramps,” he answered.“Language son,” she silenced him. “What I am going to do with you,” she whispered to herself.“I know this,” he replied. “Leave me alone,” he said with gritted teeth.“Not until you promise me to go on a blind date again,” she demanded.“I promise. Now leave before I tear my office apart,” he hissed while pointing her toward door.“Really!” she was shocked.“Leave before I change my mind,” he threatened “Calm down I am leaving. Here take your phone, you had dropped it near fence during your shift,” and she stomped out of the room.He ran his hand in hairs and kicked away chair near him to blow away some of his anger. He checked his phone for missed calls. There were 37 missed calls from Victor, his Beta and best friend.Achilles and Victor have grown up together, helping each other during rough times. They both have each other back since their infancy. Victor was there for Achilles during his breakdown due to rumors about cheating in Arena, likewise Achilles was there for Victor when his parents died in plane crash. When Inferno pack former beta had retired three years ago, as per there custom that Alpha has the last say over the verdict for Beat title, Achilles had given Victor’s name for Beta title but elders from council was not in his favor. They wanted to choose someone with more experience, so that their pack would not be left in hands of two teenagers. This denial didn’t go well with Achilles. On the other hand Allen Cook, August’s and Brutus’s father, used his influence in council to nominate his younger brother, Spartacus, for Beta. When Achilles’s grandfather informed him about this behind the curtain game, he was furious but he didn’t confront them right away. He and Victor had always suspected Spartacus for starting rumor about his Arena. They both saw this opportunity to settle their score with him.Spartacus was a great tracker and a very polished politician but in hand to hand combat he was no match for Victor. Achilles trapped the council in fiddle that if they didn’t conduct Arena for Beta title, between Spartacus and Victor, he would ban all of the elders who were playing along with Allen for the charge of misleading pack for personal profit. With no other option left they abide and arranged the Arena but kept it secret from pack. Only elders, Cook family and Achilles’s parent were present other than Achilles, Victor and Spartacus.In less than five minutes of Arena Victor had Spartacus on knees, and ripped apart his head before he can even submit. Actually Achilles and Victor have planned that arena with the sole aim of seeking revenge.  Arena started an unspoken rivalry of duo against elders. But their splendid coordination and incredible mutual understanding in running pack patched up all grudges between them. After a while duo earned the respect among the elders council also, but Achilles was still not over it. He still didn’t trust elder’s council and other ranks of his pack for critical issues, specially related to security. That is why when they had spotted traces of trespassing and breach in security in their pack’s outer land, he had dispatched his Beta to investigate it instead of any tracker.37 missed calls from Victor was not a good sign. He quickly called him back.“Where the hell were you man?” Victor barked as soon as he received the call.“Vic I already had a rough day. I am surely not expecting another round of interrogation now,” he said with irritation.“What happen? Everything ok,” Victor asked.“We will talk about it later. First tell me what was so important that you called me 37 times,” Achilles inquired.Victor sighed and answered “There is something very perilous going on. The last trespasser I was following had bought me to this Milady pub near shore, and you know what, he was an agent working for a witch-”“What! A witch,” Achilles interrupted him, “Are you sure?”“She smelled like a freaking decaying body, what more evidence is needed then,” Victor argued.“Ok. What else did you find?” Achilles further questioned.“I didn’t get much from them, that agent just passed some sort of report to that witch and after which they left. I followed them to the back of pub.  Where that witch sliced his throat and then dumped him in dumpster. She just left him there. I searched him for any ID, but there was none on him. Later I followed that witch scent and found her in the market place where I heard her talking on phone, which was actually interesting. From what I heard they were talking about transferring some girl at dawn tomorrow for something important. From the supplies she was buying at market, I have deduced that she is going to use her as sacrifice for some sick spell. That chase finally guided me to shore and there she left for light house in a small boat. I wanted to follow her then, but swimming across the sea to light house in bright day light would have drawn too much attention so I decided against it. I am going there now, it is perfectly dark out. I will update you as soon as I get my hands on that file,” Victor ended.“Wait, I am sending back up. Don’t go in there alone. You don’t know, what surprise they are holding back,” Achilles suggested.“Achilles that girl needs help, I can’t wait for back up” Victor argued.“Listen I won’t risk my Beta for a girl,” Achilles snarled.“Achilles please let me go there, if I sensed that things are way out of order I will back off immediately,” Victor argued.“Why are you even bothering to ask for my permission when you don’t want to abide,” Achilles growled.“Let me do this please. My wolf would never forgive me for leaving that girl in there, when he knows I could have saved her,” Victor pleaded.Achilles sighed and then replied helplessly “At least arrange a boat to cross sea.”“Boat can draw their attention. Don’t worry about me everything will be fine,” Victor reasoned.“Whatever you say,” Achieved sounded frustrated.“Now tell me what’s up with you, your phone was on voice mail and you had blocked me out of link,” Victor inquired now.“I dropped my phone during shift. I was on the edge whole day, so was trying to seclude myself by blocking everyone later,” Achilles explained. “We will talk about it after your return,” Achilles start feeling same uneasiness on remembering that voice and scent.“You are still on edge. Is Athena back on her match making mode?” Victor tried to ease away the tension from their conversation.“Yeah that too and even worse,” Achilles smiled.“So what were her allegations this time?” Victor chuckled.“That I am gay, in relation with you and is trying to hide it from her,” he answered with embarrassment clear in his voice.“Really!” Victor was shocked. “Did this end up in another date for you,” he asked with amusement“Yeah,” Achilles admitted.“So I guessed it right. Oh yeah almighty Victor knows everything,” Victor chuckled. “How’s Manny?”“Something is up with her again. I think that Cook’s pup is somehow involved in it,” Achilles frowned.“Why can’t that family leave us alone?” Victor growled from the other end.“I think they all are fated to be killed by us,” Achilles smirked evily.“Achilles relax,” Victor suggested.“No Victor, I promise you if my suspicion turn out to be true, I definitely will shred that cook’s pup into pieces. I have enough from his family,” Achilles growled murderously.“And I will be with you in that,” Victor agreed.“Hmm. You should leave now, it’s already late,” Achilles reminded him.“Yeah, I should leave. Take care, bye,” Victor replied. After ending call Achilles moved near to window. The stillness of surrounding was giving him ominous sensation as if foretelling about some upcoming hurricane in his life.Plz vote and comment. J
