Maggie didn't respond but instead stared at him unblinking. Faolan cupped her face imploring her human side to listen.

"Maggie it's late. You're tired and cold. Let's go back to the pack house. Get a few hours sleep and then we can tackle this in the morning."

Maggie growled at Faolan. Her wolf still wanted to fight him.

Maggie began to shift her weight attempting to stand up but collapsed in her struggle. She was too tired but her wolf wouldn't yield.

"Wait a minute," Faolan grabbed her arm to try and settle her but her wolf trashed away from him with another growl. Faolan stood and backed up to give her more space. Maggie's body shivered trying to shift but she was too exhausted. Even in her weakened state her wolf still fought him.

Faolan tried to approach her again.

"Maggie. Hey. It's me." As Faolan reached for her again, Maggie grabbed his outreached arm and pulled him to the ground. After she climbed on stop and pulled him arm behind him with his face to the ground pinning his arm behind him.

This angered Faolan's wolf. As much as the wolf cared for their mate it would not allow his mate to dominated him. Using his strength Faolan's wolf took over rolling them all until Maggie was underneath. Quickly his wolf grabbed around her with both arms and squeezed hard enough to trap her but not enough to damage.

Maggie went crazy snarling and snapping at Faolan, trying to scratch at anything she could reach. Faolan held on waiting for the woman to calm again. After several minutes of struggling Maggie turned her head to Faolan's shoulder and bit hard! Faolan gritted his teeth as Maggie bared down in him.

In her struggle the woman had marked him.

Faolan wolf preened in pride that their mate would want to mark them first, and before Faolan could stop him his wolf bent them down to her shoulder. Faolan tried to pull back wanting to wait  but they were already marked and his wolf would not tolerate their mate being without one.

Faolan felt as his canines extend and pierce the flesh of the woman's shoulder. The taste of iron filled his tongue but in his chest the the thrum of the mating bond strummed to light.

Upon his release Faolan pulled back and looked down at his new mate cradled in his arms. She stared back at him the gold of her eyes fading into green. Her wolf, content, was retreating control back to her. Maggie closed her eyes and snuggled into him finally resting for the night.

He knew there would be hell to pay in the morning when Maggie woke up and realized what had happened but he was willing to brave it. He was willing to do anything for the sake of his mate.

Maggie felt hungover

Maggie felt hungover. Her body was sore and her eyes refused to open even though she could feel the warmth of the sun shinning down on her. She felt like she could spend the whole day resting from whatever happened the night before, which was just fine with her. The cabin bed which felt tough and springy before was a heavenly pillow underneath her and her nose was filled with the amazing scent of oranges and cedar.

Her wolf was calm for the firm time in years. She too was basking in the comfort they had found. Maggie tried to not let that bother her. She couldn't remember that last time her wolf was so calm and content and she didn't want to think about why but only wanted to enjoy it for what it was. Something about it kept nagging at Maggie and she couldn't ignore it any longer.

With all her will she opened her eyelids. The room she was on was bright and airy...and not her cabin. This instantly sobered Maggie. She sprung in on an instant. Looking around the room she was in she sat in a large luxurious soft bed. The room was filled with tones of grey and tan. Off to the side was a bathroom entry. As nice as the room was she only could think of one thing.

What the fuck am I?!?!

Maggie looked down at her body checking for anything amiss. Gone were her jeans and sweatshirt. Instead she wore a pair of men's plaid boxers rolled up at the waist and a large men's white t-shirt. Between that clothes she was wearing and the scent that followed her she concluded that this was some guy's room. A one night stand maybe?

Maggie checked the rest of herself and paused when she came to her right shoulder. She wore a large bandage taped to her shoulder just where it began to turn into her neck.

Maggie ran to the bathroom. It too was luxurious like the bedroom. She turned on the bright lights and went to the vanity mirror to look at herself. The bandage stared back at her. Slowly she peeled one corner of the tape that held it on and pulled it back to see what lie underneath.
The wound was fresh but it had been cleaned. Two rows of teeth perfectly framed her shoulder. A mating mark. How the fuck did that get there?

Maggie stared at the mark in disbelief and the blood drained from her face. She strained to remember the night before. She was hiding out in the borrowed cabin minding her own business when Baron showed up. Fuck, she forgot about Baron. He showed up with his goons and got all huffy before her wolf let loose. After that everything went all fuzzy. She remembered vaguely fighting the wolves off before she ran towards woods. Then it was nothing but flashes of fur and skin followed by a pair of blue eyes.

Panicked filled her lungs as Maggie realized her predicament. She was trapped now. Once marked, a wolf would never let its mate go. It became an obsession for them. Maggie touched the mark lightly feeling the punctures where they had scabbed over. Touching the mark only made it more real and her situation more dire. Before she could stop it she threw herself on her knees before the toilet and emptied what few contents she had in her stomach.

The one thing she had been running from for the last six years and here she was trapped in it once again. No! Maggie thought. She fought too hard for her freedom she wasn't going to lose it now. She needed to get out and now.

Maggie rushed out of the bathroom and ran towards the door. As she opened it she slammed it again. She recognized the carpet on the ground.  She was in the pack house which was full of wolves visiting for the gathering. If the wolf who left their mark was staying in the pack house he was high up. Running through the pack house would be too risky. Someone was bound to see and report her to whoever. This was her only chance to leave. If whoever marked her realized she was running away their possessive side would take over and it would be even harder to escape.

Instead Maggie looked around seeing an outside door leading to a balcony. She rushed out and looked out seeing she was on the third floor.  Below and around her were other balconies that jutted out from the back of the pack house though the one she was one was the largest.  The balconies were close enough together one could easily jump down to another. That was her route.

Maggie climbed on top of the railing and was lowering herself down so she was hanging from the railing. Her wolf whimpered in her head. She did not want to leave their mate. Maggie didn't care. She was in charge now. She would knock some sense into her other side later. Right now she had to move.

Gently she let go of the railing and dropped to the next balcony and then repeated the process to drop to the ground. Looking at the pack house she saw no signs of movement as if anyone saw her. She managed to escape without notice. A shiver went through her body. Now that shew as out her body could feel the cold that her lack of clothing couldn't prevent her from feeling. First things first, grab some clothes, grab her grab bag and get the hell out of dodge.
