I thought I could talk to animals,
So I made a stop at the zoo,
And I went into all of the cages
Filled with lions and then with baboons..
I thought I could breathe under water,
So I tried it out in my pool.
It didn't end how I thought it would,
According to the snorkelers first rule.
I thought I could be a dare devil,
So I climbed one of the highest plants.
Just as I was about to jump off,
I accidentally wet my pants.
I thought I could sew a jacket,
So I bought a basket of cloth.
It was looking quite good at the start,
'Till I left it alone with a moth.
I thought I could draw a picture,
So I gathered lots of paper.
I drew an eagle that looked like a cat,
And I knew it was a complete failure.
Yet I thought I could write a poem,
And look where I am now.
Keep trying; don't give up,
You'll find where your talents lie somehow.
