Thirteen

AS I gained consciousness, I felt the throbbing pain of my temple. I remained my eyes closed as I heard a distant clamoring.

"What do you fucking mean she can't go into surgery yet?!"

"Sir—"

"She's a VIP! She's with me!"

"I know Sir—"

"You know but you're not doing something about it! If something bad happened to her—"

Jericho stopped talking because I giggled. Binuksan ko na ang mga mata ko at sandaling nasilaw sa puting ilaw.

As my sight focused, I saw Jericho who looks worried but relieved which made me giggle again. "C'mere." I said as I motioned him to come.

Agad naman siyang lumapit sakin at nag-aalalang tumingin sakin. "Are you okay? Are you still in pain, baby?" He said while brushing up my hair.

I don't know what's the matter with me but I find him funny as he look at me with guilt. Nagtataka naman siyang tumingin sakin at sa babaeng naka-white coat.

She smiled timidly and come close to me. "I'm Dr. Marangal, Miss Barcellano. Are still in any pain right now?" Tanong niya.

I happily shake my head. "The morphine has probably kicked in. Binigyan namin siya no'n para maibsan ang pain na nararamdaman niya at kaya rin ganito ang behavior ni Ma'am is because... she's in drugs." The doctor explained.

"Just please... do something about the O.R." Jericho sighed and the doctor just nodded and left the room.

Jericho once again look at me and smiled weakly. "I'm sorry." But I just smiled at him.

"Nah. It's okay." I said then giggled.

Pero marahang umiling si Jericho at hinawakan ang kamay ko. "No, baby, it's not. You were in so much pain earlier because you have appendicitis and yet I was a total jerk to you." Aniya pero ako nama'y nagulat dahil sa sinabi niya.

"Appendicitis?!" Bulalas ko. "You mean... may bumarang tae sa appendix ko?" Bulong ko sakanya pagkatapos ay tumawa ng mahina.

Jericho was taken a back in what he heard but he still forced to smile and nodded. But I just laughed harder because of that. "Oh my gosh! May tae... sa appendix... ko!" I sobbed as my laugh gets uncontrollable.

But I immediately stopped when I remember something. "Tempura! I smelled tempura kanina but I'm not sure if I was dreaming or not." I salivated just by thinking of tempura.

Si Jericho naman ay bumuntong hininga at nakokonsensiyang tumingin sakin. "Baby you can't eat yet. You're about to go in a surgery."

Agad na nabura ang ngiti ko at naramdaman kong naninikip ang dibdib ko at nagbabadyang bumuhos ang luha ko. "You won't let me eat again?" Naiiyak kong sabi.

Natataranta naman siyang pinahid agad ang luha ko at hinalikan ang pisngi ko dahilan para kumislot ako. "Fuck no baby! I'm so sorry! Hindi lang pwede muna but after this, I promise I'll let you eat a lot of tempura, okay?" Nagsusumaong sabi niya.

Pero umiling ako at umatras sakanya na ikina-gulat niya. "No! You'll treat me like shit again and you'll not let me eat! Tapos mapapahiya ako sa lahat ulit and you will not give a fuck about it!" Umiiyak kong sabi sakanya.

Pilit niya kong hinahawakan at pinapakalma but somehow the pain is unbearable and I have to let it out. "I hate you, Jericho. You don't want me anymore." I sobbed in my hands.

Jericho's strong arms wrapped around me, pulling me close to his chest. "N-No don't say that baby. Don't h-hate me. I want you. I've always wanted you." He whispered in my ears while tightly embracing me and caressing my back.
