A few changes and adapting in the new place where I am. It has not been long since then. The White Palace is a loud one. It is more to say that it is because of the knights of the second prince. When I first came here, I thought the people will be treating me in an unsightly manner but I was wrong. The maids are genuine and their service is not half-assed even though I knew some were spies from the queen. Ang mga kawal rin ay tina-trato ako bilang ang kanilang prinsesa. It seems that this place is not bad at all. Just, I became busy because of the princess lessons.

Bumuntong-hininga ako.

Simula ng nakarating ako dito ay pagod lang ang aking nararamdaman. Mukhang wala silang planong pagpahingain ako. I knew this is going to be annoying.

Pasimpleng tumaas ang aking tingin sa reynang nasa aking harap.

Honestly, I plan to make her feel annoyed at me for her to push the engagement into ruin but it may backfire and put dirt on the di Vonce’s name in the public. She is a tough foe, I know. Kaya naman hindi ko muna siya gagalitin hanggang wala pa akong matibay na ka-alyansa. I need a powerful pawn that can oppose her freely. The crown prince, for example.

“Well, do your best as a princess.” Bumaba ang tingin ko at tumaas ang kilay.

The lesson teachers told me that I excel at it but I am just pushing myself hard to not be burdened for my next lessons. I do not want to raise the difficulty but I want it quickly done.

“I will gladly do so, Your Majesty.” Marahan akong tumango.

I should try my best not offend her.

“It is just a shame that my son is not going home. Was it okay for you?” She nonchalantly asked, there was no hint of concern. Alam kong sinusubok niya lang ako kaya ipinagsawalang-bahala ko na lang iyon.

“The prince may be busy. There are still a lot of time, Your Majesty.” Kalmado kong sagot. Not acting fazed because I really was not.

“Sinasabi ko nga rin na umuwi na siya ngunit hindi siya nagpapadala ng mga mensahe sa akin. I am worried.” I mentally scoffed. Tumabingi ako.

“The prince is strong, as what I know. Maybe we should not worry too much.”

“You are right. Ngunit nag-aalala pa rin ako na baka hindi siya bumalik dito. I thought he might be mad since we still pushed him into this engagement.” My pressed lips against each other of what she said.

She really is testing me.

I heaved a silent sigh.

“Even so, His Highness will come back. It is his duty as a prince.” Her brow raised. I saw her stare from my peripheral view.

“You are so open-minded. It is as if you expected this.” Napapilig ako at sumingkit ang aking mga mata.

“It is just my nature, Your Majesty.” Palihim kong inirap ang aking mga mata.

“I feel like you will be a good princess in the future. You will gain achievements soon. If the crown prince has set an eye on you, it may have been hard to choose a woman for my son.” I blinked twice.

So she has started to talk about Rionsky. Ano naman ang plano niya?

“What an exaggeration, Your Majesty.” Maiksi kong sagot.

“Well, the crown prince is not the type to get a woman. He has such high standards. Baka ang susunod na reyna ay mula rin sa ibang kaharian.” I get what she is saying. Sinasabi niyang huwag akong kumapit sa unang prinsipe dahil hindi siya ang susunod na hari at maging katipan na lamang ng pangalawang prinsipe.

“I hope the crown prince also finds his own.” A smirk formed from the side of my lips.

“About my son, he may act cold to you when he returns. I hope you turn a blind eye.” Pagbabago niya sa usapan. Kaunting napakunot ang aking noo.

This old lady is really annoying with her taking turns of conversation.

I mentally sighed.

Well, I should just endure it.

“As his fiancee, I should be understanding as he gets comfortable with me. It may have been hard for him as well to get engaged with a stranger. The prince needs time.” Agad kong sagot at umakto na nag-aalala.

“For sure, I chose a good woman for my son.” Mahina akong napasinghal sa kanyang sinabi.

Then I will be the judge if the second prince is worthy of me.

“Thank you, Your Majesty.” I nodded.

“Live up to the name of a princess, Arisia.” Tumayo siya at binigyan ako ng makahulugang tingin. She gave me a smile and turned back with her maids. Marahas akong suminghal ng naiwan akong mag-isa.

The evening, I was seething with annoyance until I slept.

“ady...” I heard a voice. “My lady.” Minulat ko ang aking mga mata. Hilda came in sight. Napabangon ako at tumayo. I tilted my head.

“Hilda?” I yawned and lightly tapped my cheeks to fully awaken my consciousness.

“The second prince is here.” She reported. Napakurap ako.

“Oh.” He is here, she says? That was faster than I expected. Akala ko ay uuwi siya pagkatapos ng isang taon. Seems like he has things to sort out.

Napangisi ako. “It is later than I expected. I will go and meet him. Where is he?” I went in my nightgown at his bedroom.

It might seem unprecedented to go in his chambers with just a thin piece of clothing but I do not want to take my time to dress myself. I need to talk to him and he might be gone when I am late. Isa pa ay ayokong mag-ayos para sa kanya. He only has eyes for Snow and I know he will not look at another woman, be she dirty or not.

Kumatok ako sa pintuan. “Good evening, Your High---” Napatigil ako nang bumukas ang pintuan at dumaan ang hangin. Kaunti akong napa-atras at napatigil nang maramdaman ang malamig na bagay sa aking leeg. I blinked. I peripherally looked at the person beside me who is pointing his sword at me. I pursed my lips. The second prince is giving me a cold look with his beast-like eyes. Blanko siyang tumingin sa akin.

“Who are you?” Tumaas ang aking kilay at kaunting napangisi.

Is he serious? Hindi niya alam ang kanyang ikakasal? Even though he is not interested, he should at least know my face.

“Your Highness, I am Arisia di Vonce, your betrothed.” Kalmado kong sagot. Hindi pa rin niya tinatanggal ang espada.

“What are you doing here?” Seryoso niyang asik. I feel no anger in it. 

“Naririto ako upang makipag-usap sa iyo, mahal na prinsipe. I would appreciate it if you take off the sword from my neck.” Bumaba ang tingin ko sa itim na espada. My eyes squinted when at its shininess.

He has such a good sword yet he feeds it with some random blood. If I were the owner, I will just give the finest.

“Bakit ko naman gagawin iyon?” Mahina kong bumuntong-hininga.

“I do not have the intention to harm you. If I did, I would not have stood a chance.” Silence engulfed us for a while. Napahawak ako sa aking leeg nang binaba niya ang kanyang hawak. I checked to see if blood spilled from it.

It seems there are none.

Kumurap ako at yumuko ng kaunti.

“What do you want to talk about?” Ngumisi ako ng palihim. I looked straight at his brown eyes.

“Then I will be straight to the point, Your Highness. I assumed you do not want to marry me, am I right?” Hindi siya sumagot at arogante lamang akong tinignan. Sumingkit ng kaunti ang aking mga mata.

These royalties, it seems like they have another comparison. Their very arrogance. Mukhang parte ito ng pagiging dugong maharlika nila. “May I ask for the reason?”

”It is none of your business, what my reason is or what I do.” He gave me a glare. He became alert of what I said. Mukhang nakuha ko ang kanyang atensiyon.

Good grief, it seems like he will be hard to deal with.

“You are not wrong.” I scoffed. Simple akong umirap. “And so, I came here to gave you a suggestion.” Kumunot ang kanyang noo sa aking sinabi.

“What is it?”

“Whatever your reason or business is, I will not pry. In exchange, you will also do the same.” Lumunok ako. “Whenever there are important businesses that includes us being together, you should act as a real fiance. For women, that is not my business anymore but refrain from bringing some here. I have my pride as your fiancee, Your Highness. One more, di Vonce is from the aristocratic faction. We can surely support you in full. Matutulungan ka naming kuhanin ang korona.” Suhestiyon ko. Suminghal siya.

I am not really sure if he agrees to it. Still, I know that there is a slight percentage of it.

“Aren’t you the demanding type, the ones I hate the most.” May nahihintong inis sa kanyang boses.

“This is not a demand, Your Highness. Kagaya ng aking sinabi ay suhestiyon ito at para ito sa ikinabubuti nating dalawa.” I strongly answered. Kinagat ko ang aking labi. “Please take it seriously.” Pagse-seryoso ko. Tinignan niya lamang ako.

“Hey.” I looked at his eyes. “I do not care about your insignificant life. In fact, I can end your life here, right now. They can me give me women as they needed, I kill them all.” Pagngingisi niya. I pursed my lips.

He really has the look of a warmonger. In honesty, he does not fit my criteria of a king at all. He will just be the type to conquer lands and kill people whenever he wants to, then sits at the throne like a madman.

Sumingkit ang aking mga mata.

To say that my life is insignificant. How laughable. Still, I will let it slide and be patient. Just once more, if I cannot make a deal with him, then that is all.

“Then what about lady Ruvia, Your Highness? Hindi mo naman siya nilagutan ng hininga.” Ngumiti ako.

“It is none of your business.” I gritted my teeth.

Lahat na lang ba ng sasabihin niya ay hindi ko na kailangan pang pakialaman? Seriously, he and the queen are so annoying.

“Kung ganoon ay ano ang nais mo upang tuparin ang mga sinabi ko?” I lifted my chin. Napapilig siya.

“None. You should just exist as if you are nothing. Do not show yourself in front of me and mind me.” Napapikit ako at marahang bumuntong-hininga.

“Ano naman ang matatanggap ko, mahal na prinsipe?” May sarkasmo sa aking tono. His cold eyes pierced through me.

“Who said that? Kagaya ng sabi ko ay isa ka lang babaeng walang halaga sa akin. I will spare your life if you don’t cross the line, woman. Just live like a ghost.” Nagngitngit ang aking ngipin.

Alam kong ganito siya kasama sa lahat. Still, I despise being treated as nothing. He really treats my life insignificant!

Napakagat-labi ako at ngumisi. May dugong lumabas mula sa aking ibabang labi. I licked it and tasted my blood.

Bittersweet.

“How cold of you.” I murmured. Sa isang iglap ay hawak niya ang aking leeg. Hindi ko namalayan iyon. He tightened his grip and his fingernails dug through my skin. Napapikit ang mga mata ko roon.

I should have brought my sword with me.

Hilda is outside and I ordered her not to interfere if Heiden were to do something. Suminghal ako. I gave him a teasing smile. His brows furrowed. Marahas niya akong itinulak sa pader at tinanggal ang hawak. Lumunok ako at tumayo ng husto. I stopped my bleeding neck with my hand.

“Shut up. Now, scram, woman.” I was not fazed of his threats. He can do better than that, I know. He can just kill me but he does not want any annoyance.

I tilted my head.

“So that is your final answer.” Pinagpag ko ang aking pantulog. “Okay, I shall do that then. You should also do the same. Do not mind my own business.” I answered in a cold manner. Malamig ko rin siyang tinignan. “Oh, and by the way, I should call you Heiden by now. I will be a princess soon, also your fiancee. I, at least, have that right.” Sarkasmo. Ngumiti ako at sumingkit ang aking mga mata. I walked to the door. “Good night, Heiden.” I faced him before leaving his chambers. Agad na dumako sa akin si Hilda. She attempted to check my small injury but I brushed her off. Tumalim ang aking tingin at napangisi.

Perhaps, I have been too lenient and carefree. I forgot my original role in this world, a doll of the villainess, Ruvia. If Heiden starts a fight, then I shall answer it as well.

Napatawa ako. Napunta ang aking kamay sa aking bibig.

Very well, I shall be his villainess.
