Special Chapter 3
Louisina Jayin
“Sina, once you know he is the right man for you, you should never let him go.” Those were the words I once heard from my mother who fell sick, bedridden, and died later on. What she said to me has been ingrained in my head ever since.
One time when we were invited in a ducal house because of a coming-of-age of a daughter of a duke, I saw him. Swaying blond hair that mesmerizes people and emerald eyes that pierces so innocent at you. How good-looking.
The moment I saw him, I knew it was him for me.
“Nana, who is he?”
“Ah, siya po ang nag-iisang lalake at bunso ng duke ng di Vonce.” My maid who has been with me since I was born answered me with a gentle smile.
So he is a son of a duke, huh? I could care less about that.
“I want him.” These words were innocently spoken yet they can also be a curse. A curse of a never-ending obsession for someone.
“Young lady?”
“He is...the right one for me.” My lips parted as I only look at him. Yet whenever I turn away my head even just for a split of a second, he only remains in my mind.
How laughable for a twelve-year old to say that she already knows the right man for her. But it was my mother’s words. It must be true.
“Magbabago rin iyan sa iyong paglaki.” My maid softly brushed my red hair. Hindi ako nakasagot. Nanatili akong nakatingin sa salamin. My red eyes reflected in the mirror as it fills with obsession for him.
Only the future will know that.
I wasn’t expecting to bump into him in the center. Fate must have done this. Fate is a matchmaker for us.
“Greetings, I am the only daughter of count Jayin from house Jayin, Lousina.” Yumuko ako ng kaunti, kasabay ang pag-angat ng kaunti ng aking bestida. I showed him an elegant form of an etiquette that I learned and trained for a long time just to become a good lady. I smiled.
How was it, Alluis di Vonce?
“It is nice to meet you, lady Jayin. I am Alluis di Vonce. Then.” He nodded. Just like that, he left. I was stunned since no one ever acted this way before.
Why? Hindi ba siya interesado sa akin? Did I not make an favorable impression? If not, then what?
My lips parted. I was about to follow him when I saw a thin cloth fell from his pocket. I picked his black handkerchief. His name is engraved so elegantly in it.
Beautiful.
“Ah, wait!” He disappeared from my sight back then.
When will fate do us a chance again?
“What should I do with his handkerchief? Give it back? Have it as a souvenir?” I stared at his handkerchief. My lips pursed. “It would be a waste if I give it back to him.” Well, I should just keep it. Besides, it makes me feel like I am a part of him and he is a part of me when I have a possession of him.
It was short since I saw him again. We met at a ball hosted by the royal family. It was such an opportunity to let it slip.
“Sir Alluis!” Humahangos akong nakarating sa kanya.
“Lady Jayin.” I cannot keep my wide smile as he said that with his gentle voice.
He remembers me!
“I am glad you remember me.” I simply tucked my hair in my ear.
“It is bad manners not to.” He then bowed and kissed the back of my hand as a greeting. I blushed at that gesture.
