For the next few days, the school was filled with chatter (and theories) about what exactly the Chamber of Secrets was, some say it was just a prank, some say is was a way for He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named to get into Hogwarts, and, Amy's least favorite, people were saying that Draco was the 'heir' that they were talking about.

"My first Quidditch match is tomorrow," says Draco while they hide in an arch, "How do you think I will do?"

Amy smiles, "I think you'll do great."

He shakes his head and looks down, "But, what if I don't?"

Amy shrugs, "So? It's just a game."

"You don't understand." he whispers, his head still down,

Amy lifts her hand up and places two fingers on the bottom of his chin and tilts his head up, "Then explain it to me."

He takes Amy's hand from his chin, "I can't." he says almost too quietly for Amy to hear,

Amy's can feel her heart sink, Why won't he let me help him? She thinks,

He's still holding her hand then, with the other hand, he digs into his pocket and pulls out a letter, "It's from my father," he says, "About the Chamber."

Amy's stomach fills with butterflies, "What does say?" she reaches for it, but he pulls it away from her, "What's your problem?"

"Some of it is personal." he straightens up, "I'll read it." He clears his throat, and begins to read: "This should be no worry for you son, you are Slytherin, and pure-blood, but I will tell you that you should keep your head down, and let the heir do his job. Why are asking about half-bloods anyway? Do you have  a half-blood as a friend? what have I taught you--" he stops,

Amy looks down, "Your dad's a little harsh."

"I'm sorry I couldn't get you the answer you needed."

"It's not your fault," she assures him, "Your dad is just trying to protect you."

He lets out a laugh, at least what Amy thinks is a laugh, is was very sour and rude, and walks out of the arch, into the daylight for everyone to see,

What did I do this time? she thinks,

She exits the arch and (not meaning to) follows him in the direction toward the Hufflepuff dorms,

She takes a few steps, then a sixth year Slytherin 'shoulder-checks' her,

She angrily exhales, turns around, and yells, "Is there a problem?"
