The name 'Bom Jesus' translates to 'Holy Jesus'. This remarkable church is one of its kinds in baroque architecture. Built in the year 1594, it coincides with the same time when Christianity began in India.
The roof is triangular in structure with the carving of initials 'IHS' (an abbreviation meaning, 'Jesus, Saviour of Men'). The interior is marble mosaic that gives it a sombre appearance. On the wall, running from floor to the ceiling is a screen that shows St. Ignatius Loyola protecting baby Jesus.
