 Evangeline's POV:

I looked into his eyes and smiled. His face was different than most men. He lacked a nose and his eyes were extremely deep set. His skin clung to his bones and left the impression that he was a living corpse. His lips were dried up and lacked any color. When I had pulled off his mask off had came his hat and I saw his hair for the first time. It was a rich black and only a few locks. He hung his head in shame. He dropped to the ground and started to sob. He held his head in his hands and rocked as he sobbed. I knelt down beside him and pulled him against my chest, laying his head over my beating heart. He placed his hands on my shoulders and held himself against my heart. I stroked his hair and sang gently,

Heart beats fast
Colors and promises
How to be brave?
How can I love when I'm afraid to fall?
But watching you stand alone,
All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow.

One step closer

[Chorus:]
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

Time stands still
Beauty in all she is
I will be brave
I will not let anything take away
What's standing in front of me
Every breath
Every hour has come to this

One step closer

[Chorus:]
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

One step closer
One step closer

[Chorus:]
I have died every day waiting for you
Darling don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

And all along I believed I would find you
Time has brought your heart to me
I have loved you for a thousand years
I'll love you for a thousand more

When I had finished he was still sobbing.

“Erik, what did I do? Is something wrong?” He shook his head slightly.

“No, no one has ever kissed me and loved me and stayed. I don't want to let you go.” He held me closer. I wrapped my arms around him and rocked him gently. Finally he pulled away. Not completely. Just enough so that he could look up at me. I smiled and held his face still with two fingers on his chin. I leaned down and kissed him again. This time he wasn't in shock and could respond. A moment later I felt his tongue grazing my lip. I opened my mouth obediently and he tentatively slipped his tongue in. I was loving every moment of it. This was a great first kiss for me. He pulled away and whispered,

“I don't know how you love me, but I am grateful that you do.” He leaned in to kiss me again when suddenly I heard a voice I knew all to well say,

“Am I interrupting something?”
