Off Limits

Chapter 28

Before you read this chapter please read what I mentioned in italics at the end.

I was in shock to see River fighting with my boyfriend. I thought we talked about this. He was supposed to come to me first if anything happened. The video finished nothing much happened after they just got pulled away by security.

I'm not mad but I'm not cool with it either. I don't even know what's going on I just want my best friend to have a good relationship with my boyfriend. I went to River's room to get an understanding of what I just saw.

I knocked on the door before going in and he said I could come in. He was laying on his bed and sat up to face me. I took a seat on the chair near the desk. It was silent and I wasn't saying anything because I was too focused on his injuries.

I already knew about his knuckles and the only other thing that I saw was a cut on his face. I finally spoke up. "I saw the video and I know that you were fighting with Andre." He just looked at me without saying anything.

"So, what was the reason River?" I added. He sighed.

"You wouldn't understand" he said trying to shutdown the conversation. There's always two sides to the story so I want to get everyone's view.

"River please don't shut me out I'm trying to understand what made you guys fight. I'm not mad and I know you wouldn't fight anyone without a reason."

He looked deep into my eyes for a hot minute. Then he finally came clean. "Well first of all when I woke up this morning I was not in the best mood. I came to school late and because this was not my first time I got a detention."

"So, when it came to lunch time I was little late so the halls were mainly empty. You know everyone was in the cafeteria, outside, or walking around. I saw your boyfriend in the hallway and he was flirting with another girl."

I was shocked. "Are you sure River maybe he was just talking to her?" I asked. Andre wouldn't do that to me and everything is going great between us on my end. So why would he be entertaining other girls when he has me.

"What do you mean? I can't believe your seriously asking me that he was flirting. I was so mad how dare he do that shit to my best friend. I didn't even like him in the first place for you so my anger grew and I started yelling at him. You saw the rest so I don't need to explain."

"River I believe you but I still think I should talk to Andre first" I explained. I know their best friends I want them to go back to the relationship they had before. They were close you know and always used to hangout with each other.

I don't know what happened ever since Andre and I started you know talking River's been weird. I know he doesn't want me to be with him but it's my decision not his.

"Scarlett that's the dumbest idea I ever heard he will just feed you lies and you guys will get back together." How could he say that to me I'm trying my hardest to be the mediator in all of this mess.

"River I have to hear his side of the story I heard yours. It wouldn't be fair and this may all be a misunderstanding that we need to move on from." I feel like he wasn't listening to me and trying to understand from my view point.

"Your not listening to me Scarlett you know what I don't give a fuck about what you do. At the end of the day I know what's going to happen." He rushed out of the room.

"River wait I-". He didn't even let me finish and now I was here all alone here. I tried everything I could to make sense of the situation so we could all possibly get along.

I didn't know what to do so the first thought that came to mind was to talk to Andre. I called Andre so he could explain himself and he decided to come to my place. I only waited for about 25 minutes until I heard a knock on the door.

Andre gave me a smile and started leaning in but I pushed him back. He was confused and I told him I knew everything. The look on his face says it all and I don't think he wanted me to find out. I guided him towards the couch so and we sat down.

I just stared at him so I could see the bruises and he had a lot which meant River went off. I waited for him to speak up. "Lettie babe I was taking to a friend and River came out of nowhere with false accusations then he attacked me."

"River said that you were flirting with a girl is that true. Also don't lie to me I want your honest answer." I hope he doesn't lie to me because I hate liars.

He gulped. " I wasn't flirting with her she was flirting with me and I was trying to tell her I had a girlfriend but then River came."

I thought for a little while. "You see I knew it was a misunderstanding and now I hope he just believes me when I tell him."

"Alright I'll leave you to it. Are we still on for this weekend?" he held my hands.

"Yeah we're cool and you better not be late" I teased. He stood up and laughed. He kneeled down and gave me a quick peck on the lips.

"I have to get going babe I'll see you when we have our next date."I hugged him and and I heard someone clear their throat it was River.

"Alright bye" Andre said. I waved at him and I was nervous to tell River about our conversation.

Andre left and once the door closed River spoke up. "So you guys made up I should of known that you would of believed him."

"River it was just a mis-" he cut me off before I could finish.

He was angry. "No wasn't a fucking 'misunderstanding' he's lying. I know what I saw he was all over that girl and he didn't even push her off." He was frustrated I could see that he was sick of bringing this situation up.

"You know what I'm done trying to tell you. I'll be in my room so please don't bother me for the rest of the day. I don't want you to see me like this."

He walked away from me again and I felt sad like to the point I wanted to cry. I went to my room and the tears were coming. I don't even know why I was crying I just want everyone to be cool with each other.

I don't know what to do or who to believe at this point. Is River telling the truth or is Andre lying? I can't process all this information anymore it's giving me a headache.

I feel like I'm the only on trying.
