Joan is 6
Joan POV
I was sitting in my bed pretending that I was playing piano. I hear the door open, I look over and saw Jane, "oh, Hi Joan. You're normally not up till 8:00." She says and she picks me up.
"What time is it now?" I ask and she looks at her watch
"7:30." She says, I lean my head on her shoulder and she starts rubbing my back. "So I have a fun day planned out." She says and I perk my head up,
"What are we gonna do?" I ask
"We are going to go to the park with auntie Millie and auntie Courtney."
"Which one?"
"Nana bowman." She says and I nod
"Then we're going to go get lunch with auntie Grace, then we're going to get you a keyboard." She says and I perk my head up
"Like a piano keyboard?" I ask
"Yeah. I see you every morning moving your hands around like you're playing a piano, so I figured why not get you one. Then if you learn how to play Christmas songs we can force Cathy to sing." She says and I laugh
"And we might go swimming before getting your keyboard with auntie Vicki but I don't know." She says booping my nose "boop." She says and I do it to her
"Boop times two." I say
"Boop time 6,000" she says
"Boop times 6,000 and Millie dancing in mega six."
"Dang it, you win."
"Click boom, I win." (This was an actual fight me and my friend had) she sets me down and we walk downstairs. She had made waffles, I loved waffles. She hands me a plate and I climb on the chair, she gets a call from auntie Millie.
After breakfast
Jane helped me pick out and outfit and a bathing suit. "Do you think if I get good at piano, auntie Vicki will play guitar while I play piano?" I ask as she carefully brushes my hair,
"I'm sure auntie Vicki would love that." She says and she finishes, "you look beautiful." She says and I smile
"Thank you." I say and she nods
"Alright let's go, we have to go to the park." She says and I run outside to the car, she picks me up and puts me in my car seat and we drive to the park.
At park
I hide from auntie Millie, I see her shoes. I was hiding under the slide waiting for her to find me, she bends down "got ya!" She yells and I screech and run away, I hide behind Mama, wait I just called Jane mama. I shake it off and then suddenly Millie had picked me up and started tickling me, I laugh.
"J-Jane, h-help." I say still laughing and she takes me away from Millie
"You're going to make my daughter dye of laughter." She says
"We die of laughter every time we're with her." Courtney says and I stop laughing and catch my breath. I jump into Courtney's arms. "Hi Joan."
"Hi Courtney. I'm getting a keyboard." I say
"Like a keyboard for a computer?" She asks confused
"No, a piano keyboard. I'm gonna learn Christmas songs and me and Ma- Jane are gonna force Cathy to sing Christmas songs." I say and she laughs
"Cathy's not gonna be happy with you." She says and I nod
"I know." I say and she sets me down
"I don't think I've ran away from a child for this long." Millie says fanning her self, Mama screams and stands up
"What?" I ask running over to her side
"Sorry there was a bee, it scared me." She says and sits back down, I giggle and Millie laughs. "Alright I have to go, I'm stealing Wolfie for the weekend." Millie says
"Tell Wolfie I said hi." I say and Millie gives me a thumbs up
"Bye kiddo, bye Jane, bye nana Bowman." Millie says and we all wave.
"M- Jane I'm hungry." I say
"Well it's almost time to go meet auntie Grace for lunch so we can go now if you want." She says and I nod, I hug Courtney
"Bye nana bowman." I say
"Bye Joan." She says and we go to lunch with auntie Grace.
At the beach with Vicki
I sit down on the sand next to auntie Vicki, "Vicki guess what." I say and she looks at me
"What?" She asks
"Mama is gonna get me a piano." I say, Vicki looks at me shocked
"Mama?" She asks
"Oh no. Did I say Mama?" I ask and she nods "please don't tell her, I don't want her to get mad at me." I say
"Aw, she's not gonna get mad at you. She's be thrilled if you called her Mama." auntie Vicki says
"Yeah but what if she isn't?" I ask
"Trust me, she won't be mad." She says and holds out her pinky "pinky swear." She says and I link our pinkies. "Alright so a piano huh?" She asks
"Yeah and when I get good, I wanna play piano and you can play guitar and someone can sing." I say and she nods
"Sound like a plan." She says, "let's go swimming." She says and I run over to Mama
"Me and auntie Vicki are gonna go swimming." I say and she helps me put on my life vest "thanks Mama." I say without thinking, I go to walk away
"Wait. Did you just call me Mama?" She asks and I turn back around
"Oh no. Jane, I'm so so sorry. I won't call you it again. Ja-" She pulls me in for a hug, I hug her and she kisses the side of my head.
"No, no. I want you to call me mama." She says and I smile into her shoulder.
"I love you Mama." I say
"I love you too. Alright go swimming with Vicki, I'm sure she's waiting for you." She says and I run over to auntie Vicki, who has standing by the water.
"It's so cold." She says and picks me up.
"You were right." I say
"About what?"
"About Mama not being mad at me for calling her Mama." I say and she smiles
"You called her Mama?" She asks
"Yeah. She was really happy." I say and Vicki hugs me
"I knew she would be." She says and a wave splashes is "gahhhh, it's freezingggg." Vicki says and I laugh.
